I enjoy period novels so this is already good for me but I enjoyed the characters and being swept into another time. I’d recommend it.
Third story was the best.
I enjoyed these 3 books and plan to hunt up some other of this author’s books.
Interesting main character.
Nice old-fashioned mystery with an intelligent female lead
I really enjoyed the first two books of this series. The third one, however, had one character that really got on my nerves and affected my enjoyment of the novel.
It is easy to read because everything is spell out in huge letters. I’m sorry to say but the writing is a bit sophormoic and the stories are boring. I mean she puts here thoughts in quotation marks. A couple of the characters are interesting. And the murders are well done but the story behind the murders is terribly boring.
I enjoyed the three books in the series. Well done and enjoyed following the heroine in the story
Each of these 3 stories had a different tale to tell and showed a different side of Angela Marchmont. I liked the set of them so well I have already ordered and read the 4th book in the series and will be reading more.
Love the Marchmont mysteries. Looking forward to reading more. England in the 20’s is lovely to read about.
Move over Ms. Marple; Angela Marchmont is my new period mystery-solver. I was blown away at times – I just KNEW who the killer was – only to find another twist in the plot that defied my imagination. I’m a new fan of this series, and can hardly wait to read the rest of these mysteries.
I liked the historical setting & characters-love British who-dunnits!
A bit too descriptive of unimportant where & whens. Like author needed more pages to make up the book.
Old fashioned fun
Three books all we fun to read
Well written. Reminiscent of Agatha Christie, these mysteries are enjoyable and will keep you guessing. The author provides plenty of clues for the amateur “sleuth” to solve each mystery as the story wraps up.
Liked them
OK, bit the main detective is under-drawn; I guessed the solution of the first one I read way before the end; and the second one hid details too blatantly. Despite that, it kept me reading to the end, which is worth a few stars.
Good for fans of Agatha Christie
Angela is a refreshing addition to list of “lady detectives”.
