Too predictable
I enjoyed the characters. While I was able to figure out who dunit, the author’s writing style is such that I always wanted to finish the books.
Easy read mystery on the Agatha Christi or Murder She Wrote sort of level. Although somewhat predictable there are some nice turns & twists and the characters always seem be be “characters” in these series.
Although it takes a bit to get into the first book due to the long lead to set the stage for the introduction of the plot and who is the heroine, once in, I enjoyed it and the subsequent two books. Good plots.
Just finished book 1 of the set. Now reading book 2. Interesting stories and characters. I was able to identify the culprit early on and there were a couple of places the the story that I found annoying, but all in all a good read.
Barely entertaining, very slow.
I have never read a mystery from the point of view of one of the participants. It was very original. I kept asking myself how this person could be the detective, and in the end he wasn’t (he was only one of the witnesses).
I love Angela Marchmont! She’s a smart, independent woman in a time when few women could be. I enjoy historical mysteries and these are among the best I’ve ever read!
These mysteries have entertained me for the last week and i appreciate the restraint used in language and violence (although they can be threatening). The first book threw me off by being in the first person of one of the characters, but i was thankful it was not Mrs. Marchmont herself and subsequent books have been in nice, comfortable third person. A good read!
Very much enjoyed the author’s style. Prose flowed in easy natural way.
Good stories and a sophisticated heroine
Pleasant but not compelling.

Loved the time period
Kept my interest.
These books were entertaining enough but it felt like a couple steps were missed in the deductive process. They filled several hours pleasurably but weren’t a real stretch.
Downtown Abbey fans a must read
If you enjoyed Miss Marple’s ability to solve crimes you will also enjoy this series. Miss Marchmont’s adventures are an entertaining read.
You will love these characters. You can’t read just one.
Angela Marchmont is a smart, observant woman, willing, but sometimes reluctant to help friends out of a jamb.
