Wisecracking reporter Dixie Flynn thinks fast and talks even faster―it’s the only way to survive the San Francisco crime beat. When she’s assigned to look into the death of her former lover, artist Diego Chino, Dixie’s instincts tell her there’s more behind the apparent suicide than the police are letting on.Dixie’s canvassing of the Bay Area art district reveals it to be a perfect picture of … picture of corruption, with a handsome art dealer and a reclusive patron in the foreground. After a romantic evening in Chinatown ends in a brush with death, Dixie is more determined than ever to expose the truth. But when a fire in her vicinity turns out to be more than just performance art, it’s clear the perpetrators would rather see Dixie dead than let her destroy their criminal masterpiece.
“Dixie Flynn may be the most kick-ass heroine ever created. Kudos to Grant for giving us the ultimate ‘girl power’ thriller!” — Tess Gerritsen, New York Times bestselling author of The Silent

I almost quit reading this book and I’m glad I didn’t, but Dixie’s Tip: Leave the Dixie’s Tips out! They were annoying and totally unnecessary. Author is an excellent writer and the storyline was interesting. I sure didn’t see the end coming! Looking forward to another book by MC Grant.
I think Tess Gerritsen said it best: “Dixie Flynn may be the most kick-ass heroine ever created.” Angel With A Bullet is Dixie Flynn’s first adventure, but you’ll be so hooked, you’ll want to immediately read the next two: Devil With A Gun and Beauty With A Bomb. Fun, sarcastic, and a real page turner.
I enjoyed this book, the setting and characters.
Interesting characters; I liked the plot development.
Dixie is a 30 something? crime beat reporter in San Francisco. She’s smart, intuitive, persistent, witty and a wisecracker. Of course she has to have a detective friend. Hers is a gruff but caring older guy. You’ll like him too. The thing that sets Dixie’s adventures apart from other journalists with a cop friend that shows up to get her out of hot water is: she takes a lot of physical beatings along the way. The predicaments she gets into are many…producing a lot of nonstop action and close calls. The peripheral characters that probably will appear in every book were also different and likeable.
My only note is the book is written in present tense which is not my favorite way to read. On to book two. Let’s see if the author produces another good story.
Fun book. Some original twists.
Great read. When you think you know who everything switches. I loved the interjection of Al.
dixie is akin to a hard-boiled gumshow PI with a notepad. she has sass and sauce. she’s cheeky and brash. she WILL get her story. then you add in king william, bubbles, baccarat, a new kitten and some riotous neighbors. recipe for a splendid day reading.
Mostly unpredictable. Quite entertaining. Not terribly believable contrived situations.
I enjoyed meeting the character, Dixie. She was witty and the book kept my interest. I will read the second book in the series.
Dixie Flynn is a unique female: a reporter who can be a hard-drinking, swearing, one of the guys, yet traipse around underwear-less and get her story every time!!
Held my interest. One tough woman. Plus it was funny.
Loved this book. She was a tough woman on a mission
Always love to find a new favorite mystery/thriller author.
Great story. Can’t wait to read more.
This one I liked
Fast paced with an offbeat humor
easy to read mystery
Definitely want the next one!
This one is tough for me. It was amusing at times, if a bit twisted (well, murder IS, of course, but there were just some things that were almost more twisted than murder). I had trouble believing in parts of the story line but got a kick out of the characters.
Appealing characters, lively plot and subplot, unique enough to remember. I’d read more by this author.
