Baby I’m Yours: A Small Town Accidental Pregnancy Romance (Angel Sands Book 5)
4 stars
I purchased a copy of the novel Baby I’m Yours: A Small Town Accidental Pregnancy Romance (Angel Sands Book 5): Harper and James by Carrie Elks and this review was given freely.
An attraction at first sight romance with an unplanned pregnancy, two emotionally scarred characters, and their wonderful supportive group of friends. The sudden loss of her dream job leads Harper back to Angel Sands, her friend Caitie, and a alcohol involved encounter with a stranger who just happens to be a friend of Caitie’s family, the grieving widower and orthopedic spine surgeon James Tanner
I read each of these stories when they first came out. They are connected by the characters resident in this small coastal California town, but each romance is complete in its own book with an HEA and no cliffhanger.
Let Me Burn
Fireman sparks a flame for Ember!
4.5 stars
Lovely, well-written small-town romance with two of the nicest and most caring people you’d want to meet. The town denizens provide a friendly, supportive backdrop for the romance. Both H and h have past relationship baggage to overcome and the slow and gentle pace of small-town life give them a great environment to heal and move on.
This novel was a clear standalone but I look forward to more in this new series about the residents of Angel Sands. I loved the Shakespeare Sisters season-themed romance series also by this author. She knows how to write a series with connected characters but without cliffhangers!
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
She’s Like the Wind
5stars
Loved this well-written romance for cafe manager Ally and her new boss Nate, a single dad with a troubled teen daughter. It had medium steam, some tear jerker moments, realistic interactions with teen Riley, and kept me wondering when or if Ally would get the HEA she so deserved. I really like the residents of this small coastal town and how supportive they are. Looking forward to the next in the series.

Sweet Little Lies
4.5 stars
I really enjoy this Angels Sands series. Each romance novel is a standalone about a different couple, but they are all interconnected because they feature the residents of a small coastal California beach town where “everybody knows your name.”
This time single mother Brooke, working hard to raise and support her eight-year old son Nick while studying AND deeply involved in animal welfare volunteerism (whew, where DOES she find the time!?) is surprised by the return of her high school crush who left Angel Sands with his hard working single mom in the midst of their teen romance. His bad boy brother Jamie is a fly in the ointment threat to their reunion. The family dynamics made this a very good read. Expect some steam, but it does not by any means drive the plot.
Plenty of good friends, tense family discussions, cute times with a well-written boy and romance, with a bit of urgent drama and a joyful conclusion: this story is a good one, something I expect from romance author Carrie Elks.

4, 5 stars for the box
(I have read the three books in this box separately before the box came out.)
If you’re looking for sweet, light summer stories about friendship, loss and love that all take place in a small beach town then you have to try this box.
One of the things that I love about the ’Angel Sands’ series is that the stories are more than just romances stories. It’s also about friendship, especially the friendship between the three women Brooke, Ember and Ally. It‘s wonderful to see how they support each other throughout the series.
BOOK 1: LET ME BURN – 4,5 stars
‘Let me burn’ takes place in a small beach town called Angel Sands in America. A town where both Ember and Lucas were born and grew up in. But where Lucas left their little town to be a firefighter in a big city, Ember stayed in Angel Sands and became a schoolteacher. Both may have gone to the same high school when they were younger but they never connected with each other. But now years later, that all changes when Lucas comes back to Angel Sands for a long holiday. Both aren’t looking for love or a relationship but life can be unpredictable and sometimes you will find love when you least expect it. But can love be enough to overcome distance and hurt from Ember’s past?
One of the things that I loved in this story was the slow pace in which Ember and Lucas’s relationship developed. They went from strangers to friends to lovers and I loved every minute of it. Lucas is really the guy that every woman dreams of. He’s a hardworking man with a good heart, intelligent, respectful and there when you need him (and he also has a great body!). I was so happy that Ember met him, because he was just the guy that she needed even if she didn’t know it. Ember was also a great character, she’s an intelligent, strong woman with a big heart. Lucas and Ember were just perfect for each other. And then you have the second characters, Lucas and Ember’s best friends, they were also very likeable characters and great friends.
BOOK 2: SHE’S LIKE THE WIND – 4 stars
After reading and enjoying the first book ‘Let me burn’ I was curious about Ember’s two best friends Ally and Brooke and their romance story. ‘She’s like the wind’ is the story of Ally and Nate.
Ally never expected that she would fall for her new boss Nate but that’s exactly what happens. Nate may be older than her and be a single father of a teenage girl, those things means nothing when their eyes meet. The only reason why Nate moved to the small beach town ‘Angel Sands’ was to make a new start for him and his teenage daughter Riley. Since losing her mother and moving in with him, things have been difficult between them. Nate hope that a change of scenery will be good for the both of them. He never expected to fall for a younger woman who works for him but that is just what happens. But his feelings aren’t the only thing that he has to consider. How will Riley react when she discovers there is something between him and Ally? Will he have to choose between Riley and Ally?
I enjoyed this book. It had the perfect blend between a light read and an emotional one. I liked the interaction between Ally, Nate and Riley. The fact that Ally could relate to Riley because of her own similar childhood experience, made that Ally had more understanding and patience with Riley and her teenage behavior. But it also meant that Ally had to deal with own feelings of her own past. I found it very interesting to see how experiences of the past can help you to help others but it can also hold you back to live a happy life. And that communication is very important in every relationship.
The story is told in both POV’s and it was fun to see Ember, Lucas and Brooke again. After hearing a lot of Ally’s father in the first book, we finally get to meet him and hear his side of the story and his reasons of why he did some things.
BOOK 3: SWEET LITTLE LIES – 5 stars
Sometimes you start a book, thinking that you know what the story will be about. But then the story surprises you in such a way, that it leaves you unbalanced and curious for the rest of the story. And that’s what ‘Sweet little lies’ did to me and as a reader I couldn’t have been more happy about it!
I don’t want to give away too much of the story, but I can tell you that it’s indeed a second chance story. I love those. I liked how the story was told, how slowly you get little bits of Brooke and Aiden’s past. So you can understand why they broke up and what happened afterwards. The story was writing fluently, very easy to read but it also had his emotional moments. It’s told from both POV’s.
I liked both main characters very much. Brooke is strong in her own, gentle way and Aiden… well, Aiden is a bit more intense but also strong and protective of the people that he loves. They are both very caring people with a lot of love to give.
Let Me Burn
I just fell in love with both Lucas and Ember’s characters. While both of them have issues they are dealing with, that doesn’t stop them from being attracted to each other, especially the more they run into each other. There were also a number of interesting secondary characters and I couldn’t help but laugh out loud at little Carter’s antics.
She’s Like the Wind
After reading the first book I was curious as to Ally’s story and her relationship with her father, and the author did not disappoint. As they say, there are two sides to every story and there were some aspects that I wasn’t really expecting.
While Ally is trying to deal with the fact that her father has sold the café, she’s unprepared for the attraction she feels for her new boss, Nate. The more time they spend together, the harder it is for them to ignore their mutual attraction. But the question is whether Nate will want to develop a relationship with Ally given he is dealing with his somewhat troubled daughter Riley. This story will take you on an emotional roller coaster – from the thrill of new love, to heartache, to an appreciation that family can be more than just your blood relatives.
Sweet Little Lies
What a wonderful second chance romance. I’ve loved getting to know the residents of Angel Sands, especially the three female friends. In this book we get to read Brooke’s story – her past history with Aiden, how Brooke became pregnant, and the challenges she has faced raising her son on her own. It would seem that someone comes from a family with money would have no worries but that certainly isn’t the case for Brooke. And when Aiden returns to town, Brooke has some big decisions to make.
This story didn’t exactly end the way I was anticipating (love that in a story!). As with the other stories, the author makes you feel as if you are right there in Angel Sands and are personal friends with the characters.
