Even angels have their demons Jordan Reiss is well aware that if she was on fire the entire town of Oak Creek would probably go inside and make a sandwich. She can’t blame them. Her father scammed half the town out of their retirement funds, and then she… options and just wants to be left alone to live on the fierce Wyoming land she’s missed so much during her six years in prison.
Former Navy SEAL Gabriel Collingwood’s callsign may have been Angel, but he’ll be anything but to protect his sister. Especially from a pretty ex-con who has somehow weaseled her way into a job at his sister’s new bakery.
He doesn’t trust Jordan, even with her big gray eyes and quiet smile.
But when someone decides its time for Jordan to leave Oak Creek—preferably in a body bag—Gabe will have to put his distrust aside. Jordan needs her own guardian angel. And he happens to be one.

ANGEL is a stand-alone steamy romantic suspense, set in the LINEAR TACTICAL series. Meet the former military men of Linear Tactical, and the women who bring them to their knees: The strongest fall the hardest.
A “less-steamy” version of this book (same great story but with toned down language and sensual scenes) is available on Janie’s website ~ If you like the heat level of Janie’s Harlequin Intrigue books, you’ll love the “less-steamy” version of the Linear Tactical series!

A very easy read with action from page one. Jordan is the type of character that you want to see happy especially after all the negative she has had in her life. Gabriel is her catalyst.
Truly enjoyable read.
I love the relationship between the characters. A strong, headstrong woman and a alpha male.
I have been impatiently waiting for this book and boy was it worth it. Janie is certainly one to watch out for in the suspense world.
Each book in this series has flawlessly tied together and keeps you on the edge of your seat, rooting for all involved.
I’m usually all about the heroes in my romantic suspense, and don’t get me wrong, Gabriel Colingwood (aka Angel) certainly delivers in the brainy, protective hunk department. But in this book, I think it was Jordan, the heroine, who really spoke to me. Probably because I’m a shy introvert I could relate to her. Not that I’ve been to prison or accidentally killed anyone! Jordan Reiss isn’t shy, exactly, but she is such an outcast from the world that she is very cautious about sharing her feelings and trust because she’s been so beaten up by life. And yet she keeps fighting–to do the right thing, to be a good friend, to not cause anyone any pain. I understood why she subverted her needs and wants to keep the chaos out of her life. That makes when she does stand up to protect her friends and go after what she wants such a powerful moment.
Gabriel is so protective and supportive of her and that makes him so endearing. Of course, the fact that he’ll take a couple of bullets for her and get down on his knees to beg forgiveness when he’s hurt her are strong, heroic moments.
There was one element I wanted more information about because it was an important motivator for a choice Gabriel made that I felt was out of character for him. It all turned out fine, but I just needed more to justify it. (no details because of spoilers)
All in all, I am loving Janie’s Linear Tactical series. The heroines are strong and interesting, and the heroes are downright sexy and the protectors you want on your side in a romantic suspense. There are always hints to upcoming books and characters that aren’t enough to take away from the main story, but that whet my appetite for the next book. Can’t wait for GHOST!
Jordan’s life had been horrible so far. She was raised by her father after her mother died when she was a young girl. Then, when she was a teen, her father swindled the people of their small town out of their money and disappeared. After a terrible accident, Jordan wound up in jail. When she was released she went back home only to find everyone hated her, making her life miserable. The sad part was that the poor woman thought she deserved to be treated badly by them. She was thankful that a new person in town gave her a job in her bakery. But the owner’s brother was very protective of her and didn’t want Jordan working there. The more he got to know Jordan as a kind, thoughtful woman, the more his attraction to her grew. It wasn’t long before he was protecting her from the people in town. I loved how the Linear guys and their women were there for Jordan.
I liked Jordan and Gabe. Jordan was a wonderful woman who handled the things life threw her and still stayed kind to others. Gabe was great but if he would quit jumping to conclusions he’d be even more appealing. Their relationship and the struggles that Jordan faced kept me turning the pages and hoping for a happily ever after for these two. Angel has an absolutely wonderful ending. I sighed as I turned the last page.
I was given this book in consideration of my honest thoughts.
Loved, loved, LOVED this book!
I was so excited to see Jordan was going to get her book and Janie Crouch seriously outdid herself with this one. I loved Gabe and how protective he was of Jordan. I was hooked from page one and stayed up all reading Angel because I just could not put it down.
Another awesome Linear Tactical romantic suspense. Ms. Crouch does an excellent job building the main characters and story line. It’s also enjoyable to revisit characters from previous Linear Tactical books. Jordan made a mistake and paid with six years of her life. Gabe is a SEAL who wants to protect his sister and he worries Jordan is a threat. This can be read as a stand-alone but I’ve enjoyed reading the books in order. I received a complementary copy of this book but chose to write a review. I look forward to reading future books by this author especially in this series.
An excellent addition to the series. I loved every minute of it. There were times I just wanted to smack Gabe upside the head but he made it right in the end so I can forgive him. I’m now wanting Dorian’s story because I have to know why he’s being hunted and by whom.
I really enjoyed this story! It was a fantastic read and pulled me in from beginning to end. This book can be read as a standalone though if you have read the previous book, you will have already met and started to get to know the characters. Jordan has had a rough time of things and she is trying to put her life back together. She loves the property that she is on but the town hates and she understands why. She made a mistake and she is paying for her father’s betrayal on top of it. She wants to right the wrong that she can but it is not an easy journey. In walks Gabriel, who doesn’t know know everything but what’s on her record because he is not living in Oak Creek. He is drawn to Jordan but doesn’t know what to do about it at first and wants to protect his sister. He figures out that she is not a bad person and starts to trust her but they still hit some bumps in the road. Jordan believes that she deserves how the town treats and doesn’t want to rock the boat or let people know how bad things are. She really touched my heart throughout this story. She is such a good and kind person and all you want is for other people to see it. There is plenty of action and intrigue in this story to keep your attention as well. The sex is explicit and blended into the story well. It doesn’t play a huge role in the story. The sexual chemistry between Jordan and Gabriel play a large role than the sex does as it helps to continually bring them back together. I absolutely adored this story! It had a great pace and flow to it that made me want to keep reading and not put it down. It’s written really well and I can’t wait to read the next book in this series! I highly recommend it.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
I volunteered to read and review an advanced readers copy of ANGEL .
I’ll start by saying I honestly think this story is fantastic . Love me some suspense/romance and I love this series and the characters are wonderful . Jordan Reiss has a tragic past she’s still struggling with enters Gabriel Collingwood aka guardian angel . together they are the perfect pair .
The chemistry between them is smokin’ .
Gabe is truely Jordan’s angel .
This is an emotional and beautiful story .
It’s some what heartbreaking at times .
I highly recommend this story . I truely enjoyed reading this story from front to back .
I read, I cried, I loved. If you have read the previous books in the Tactical Series then I am sure you have fallen in love with Jordan like the rest of us. If you haven’t read the previous ones, your in luck, you can read this as a stand a lone. It is also your lost, because of the previous members stories that you have missed out on. Go get them. Gabriel needed to be smacked upside the head several times, but most men do 🙂 Jordan had strength, compassion and endured more than she should have. I like the surprise thrown in there when we find out what all Jordan can do and when we find out what that dollar amt on her frig was for. There is a lot of action in this one and my throat tightened and tears slipped down as Jordan kept on enduring, and the ending…..well done Janie Crouch, well done. I requested an arc, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Wow wow wow wow wow….what can I say except for WOW. This story had me in tears too many times to count and on the edge of my seat with the suspense and a few times chuckling out loud. The fourth instalment in the Linear Tactical series DOES NOT disappoint and we final get Jordan’s story, the shunned woman in Oak Creek.
Jordan made a mistake and has paid for her crime but the town doesn’t forget and has her paying for her father’s sins as well by shunning and banning her from almost every business in town. Gabe has his own reasons why he doesn’t trust Jordan and only wants to protect his sister but when he sees what she has to deal with, he goes into protector mode and it doesn’t help that he is drawn to the woman as well. When Jordan’s past catches up to her, will Gabe be able to accept and trust her with everything.
Oh my my my my my my what a read with steam, suspense, heartache and heartbreak, and some twists and turns I didn’t see coming. These two lit up the pages and I loved loved loved Jordan, the strong, resilient, kind and compassionate woman who does not deserve the punishment she is receiving from the town and the people living in it. I shed so many many tears with everything she goes through and her strength to get back up day after day…WOW. Gabe aka Gabriel and her guardian angel, was a bit rough and stubborn but his protector mode and fierceness in protecting Jordan…melt an iceberg…hot. I LOVED how it all played out between them, the blind trust and faith he finally gives Jordan when she needs it the most and how it all ended with everyone. This series keeps getting better and better and I can’t wait to see how the author tops this one.
*I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
This is book 4 in the Linear Tactical series and it features Gabe and Jordan. I absolutely love Jordan. I think she is a brilliantly written character that makes me want to FIGHT FOR THE UNDERDOG! She is so incredibly strong to put up with so much and believing that she deserved it was much too tragic. It warmed my heart to know she had a few good friends who believed in her. Gabe and Jordan’s romance was beautiful but had its share of disasters that made me want to strangle Gabe. These two set off enough sparks to catch my Kindle on fire!
The suspense was great! Of course the characters were amazing and the story line was perfectly paced. I can’t wait to see who Ghost’s ghost is! Awesome book in an equally awesome series!
I knew what Jordan wanted with $ 622,000 dollars, I just knew it. She is something else, even after how everyone has treated her. All she has been through. I feel bad for her and really angry at the people in her town. Really good story. Exciting, scary in some places, so sweet in others and a man that will take on the town to help her. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a honest review.
I love this series. I’m not sure there’s anything that would make me not love it. (Please note, this is not a challenge to be taken in earnest.) Jordan’s kind of been a staple in the background of all the other books so far, so I was really excited to see her get a story of her own. And what a story it is. She needed a miracle to break through the grudges the townsfolk were cherishing, but she didn’t just get a miracle – she got her very own guardian angel. I had a feeling that Gabe was going to be something special when we met him. I didn’t realize how much more there was to the man than the corporate shark and overprotective brother. I also wasn’t expecting the emotional impact this book had on me. The same scenes in Violet’s book were powerful, but the didn’t leave me bawling like a baby the way they did from Gabe and Jordan’s perspectives. I don’t know what’s coming next at Linear Tactical, but “bring it on!”
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.
Emotional rollercoaster
Angel is a strong addition to the series. It is more than a romantic suspense. It is a story about betrayal, heartbreak, misconceptions, forgiveness and trust. Not all characters are perfect. Real characters have their strengths and their weaknesses and that is definitely the way these characters are portrayed. This story is an emotional rollercoaster that you won’t want to get off of.
Intrigue
Family
Steamy scenes
Drama
Trust
Romance
Insecurities
This book has it all and then some. A suspense filled love story filled with drama and the realization that the bone-deep trust we have in those we truly love can get us through anything.
4.5* ARC Review – Great continuation of the Linear Tactical Series
Being part of this author’s ARC team is a great pleasure, because I get to read and review these books before they are released! This book is an excellent part of the Linear Tactical series and the characters had been introduced in the prior books. In fact, I have been waiting to learn more about Jordan’s story and once she met Gabriel, I knew that would be a great combination. Although you can read them as a standalone, if you like one, you will probably want to read the others. As the series continues, I have gotten more invested in these characters and their stories. Also, I am a big fan of this author, as she has a true gift for bringing all of these interesting characters together in this small town in Wyoming. The other part that I truly enjoy about this series is that the books overlap in time, so it’s not like the one couple is complete and then we move on to the others, they are getting together while things are going on with prior couples. It makes the stories more realistic to me.
In this book we learn a lot more about Jordan’s story, even though we had met her as early as the first book in the series. This book concentrates on her story and Gabriel, who is the brother of Violet, from the prior book, Shamrock. As they get to know each other, mainly due to Gabriel’s insistence, they realize how much they have in common. They share an interest in cyber security and coding and that just adds to their personal attraction and chemistry. Jordan is very private and closed off, so it makes it difficult for Gabriel to get to know and trust her. It felt like they have a few too many misunderstandings because of this, but it did add a challenge to their relationship. Overall, it is a great story and just adds to the Linear Tactical series!!
You’re going to need tissues . I can’t tell you how much I love this series or how waiting for the next one is torture. These guys are awesome and the woman are amazing. Then she throws in kids that are adorable. Suspense, love, sexy time and a lot of emotions. Great flow and pace. Great dialogue. Gabe and Jordan are amazing together. Gabe does mess up, but at the same time I remember he is dealing with his own stuff and fresh from a betrayal by someone close to him. The way he treated her when he thought she betrayed him was not ok, but you get where he is coming from. This story is about Jordan AND Gabe but Jordan’s issues are more out there, Gabe’s were less expressed and you could almost forget that he had problem and hurt too. I received a free copy for an honest review.
Loved this book so much – the series just keeps getting better and better! Have started out being an ass but eventually came around. Jordan has had a hard life and is afraid of being vulnerable and opening herself up. What a fantastic book – you need to read this right away.
