Heaven help us. They be angels. The soulless be banished angels.Evangeline had a lot riding on her shoulders. She was a Chronicler of lives, charged with keeping track of the war between the hunters and soulless on earth. Even more than that, she would be the mother of the next generation of Chroniclers. But that meant she’d have seven births. Lord have mercy. Seven! What man wants that? He had … that? He had to be a strong faithful man, one who’d believe in her, believe in her destiny and be able to help her nurture and protect their children. Help her protect the records in her care. She thought she’d found him once, but she’d been mistaken. A mistake that could cost them all their future.
Devlin was still pissed over Evangeline’s rejection. Pissed she thought his being a hunter meant they couldn’t be together. She couldn’t get past the fact he hunted and killed the bloodsucking soulless. So what if they were angels. They weren’t angels anymore, in fact, they’d been kicked out of heaven and now preyed on humans. The only good soulless was a dead one. Why could she not see that? He stayed away from her but continued to keep an eye on her. But the minute her life was threatened by one of those bloodsuckers nothing was keeping him from being by her side. Not even when he thought she’d been promised to another. Another who’d breed seven brats on her. To hell with that. He’d kill him first.

How could two completely opposite people be fated to be together?
For Evangeline as a Chronicler she’s tasked with keeping track of the war between the fallen angels (soulless ones) and the Hunters who protect the humans from them. Many times Chroniclers remain neutral in the war, but Evangeline and her aunts believe that the fallen can be redeemed. Especially since it’s happened once already. She will bear the next generation of Chroniclers and believed she had found the one who would stand by her side with loyalty and back her on her beliefs…until he proved differently how wrong they were for each other.
As a Hunter, Devin’s mission is to protect the humans from the fallen angels. His goal usually ends up with them dead, as he doesn’t believe too much in the fact that all the fallen can be redeemed. For months he had believed him and Evangeline were working towards something special between the two of them until she flat out rejected him for his job and beliefs. While he doesn’t believe that Evangeline’s views make her gullible and naive, he does see the potential danger so he’ll protect her from the fallen and from herself if necessary.
This was the first book I’ve read in this series. So trying to kind of figure out a bit of the history was a little more harder and took me a bit longer to figure out. But this book does not lack adventure and action to keep the reader invested and interested!
What a great read very well written and amazing story line. I was drawn in immediately and held till I finished the last chapter. There is a lot of action, and the characters are fiesty. Can’t wait to read more
this was a really great book! packed with alot of action. she is next in line to have seven children. first she must find a father who can handle the job. he is a soulless hunter. he wants her bad but she keeps rejecting him. can these two ever get together? read to find out.
Evangeline has to deal with a lot. First, she’s in charge of writing down the info on the war. Second, she has to have seven kids. OUCH!! Devlin wishes Eva would be with him, but she dislikes his job as a hunter. She’ll choose someone else. There’s only so much a man can take.
If you didn’t know it, there are those who hunt fallen angels that now have no soul, but there are those that are the one that record their war called chroniclers. But they are the ones that believe the fallen called be saved through love. Not the hunters though, they believe those angels are soulless creatures that deserve to die. A story about those that have a belief that all can be saved, yet another who doesn’t feel that way. I was never a fan of books like this one but I enjoyed reading it. LaVerne Thompson can bring a story to life, where the impossible is possible, where there are wonderful characters who are brought to life right in front of your eyes.
An interesting paranormal romance about angels, soulless, hunters and more. I really enjoyed the concept and the overall story. It was a little hard for me to get into though. The characters didn’t really grab me. I did like the concept though.
A second book in the series of fallen angels, the hunters, and chroniclers who record their war. A hunter falls for the chronicler who is to lead the next generation of chroniclers. Their love seems forbidden, but was fated and can’t be denied. This is a full-length story with complex plotline, well-developed characters and an interesting twist to paranormal world where angels have fallen and have turned to soul-less creatures, but can be redeemed through love. The book can be read on its own, but reading the first one in the series will give more insight to the whole story. A definite happy ending, but has a cliffhanger for the next in the series.
