André The Marines trained me to set my sights and wait for the shot. For eight years, I guarded my brothers and defended my country. Now I protect my clients. My personal security firm is the best in the business because I leave nothing to chance… until a dark-haired, hazel-eyed spitfire crosses my path. She and her sexy-as-hell striptease were supposed to be a one-night distraction. But too late … distraction. But too late I noticed the branding on her back and my blood ran cold. This woman wasn’t a distraction—she was a death sentence.
Knowing who she was left me no choice. I took her on as my client. But running from her past wasn’t an option.
The Marines didn’t train me to retreat. They taught me to engage.
One shot. One kill.

I don’t write spoilers, which means I’m finding it hard to write my thoughts about Andre without giving away too much. I can safely say that Sybil Bartel delivered another gut-wrenching, tear-jerking installment in the Uncompromising series, which is intimately connected with the Thrust series. I was floored for most of the time. The rest of the time, I was ecstatic. This read is that much of a roller-coaster. Be prepared. It’s is not for the faint of heart and I loved every second of it.
To be honest, I fell in love with Andre reading the other books about these group of ex-marines. His easy smile and gentleness won me over and I eagerly waited for his story. I was not disappointed. The characters are multi-layered and relatable. You watch them evolve before your eyes as it happens with good writing. The setting is breathtaking, as Florida is, mainly the Keys, in my opinion. And the action scenes will keep you on the edge of the seat. The sex scenes are oh-so-hot, just like I expected from this series. As a writer and avid reader of steamy romances, I’m in awe of Ms. Bartel’s talent in this aspect as well.
I’d like to wrap this up with a description of this sweet alpha male, but I’ll let his lady do that because she nailed it. “Andre Luna was scrupulous. His goodness wrapped around you like the comfort of rightness. (…) He held your dignity when you lost it, and he gave direction out of the dark rain of life”.
I recommend this book to readers who enjoy action-packed romance with lots of steam and sass.
I received a complimentary copy of this book, but the decision to post this review was my own.
After hearing about André in Rough, Grind, Talon, and Neil I am happy to finally get his story. André met Kendall in Talon’s book, she was working for him at his surf shop. This book takes place 6 months after the events of Talon. Kendall is in hiding when an MC member finds out who she is. André was present when that happened and now they are on the run. This one has a lot of intrigue and some suspense. Will André be able to keep her protected? Will they be able to find a solution and save her from her past? This is a very good book and can be read as a stand-alone but I would recommend you read them all.
Mm mm. Can’t even say Andre Luna without drooling. Sensitivity, compassion, control, intelligence he has it ALL. By far an ultimate alpha. I will never ever not push these books! Take note ladies, these are the qualities to look for. Andre is the perfect man! For a long time he battled Talon for my favorite and while I adore him Talon is really just too epic to lose. Every time Andre appears I squeal a little!
I swear when it comes to this author’s books, I can’t get enough. I’ve been anxiously waiting for this one to release and it sure didn’t disappoint. After meeting Andre in other books and Kendall too, I was curious to see where things would go in this story. It was one wild, exciting ride. Sexy, hot, suspenseful and at times even funny. Got to thank Talon for the funny bits. I love the way the author produces such intensely protective and amazing alpha males. I think every gal’s dream is to have one of them for herself. I knew something was going on with Kendall from Talon’s book but I never expected what it turned out to be. I wondered how they were ever going to get themselves out of that situation at first. Overall, LOVED this. It has everything in it to keep a reader engaged from beginning to end. I can’t wait for more from this author.

Mrs. Sybil Bartel is an old friend of MB, but rarely I get to read her books. Three and some years ago, I read and reviewed another of her books No Apologies; I mentioned this because, at that time, I said that it seems that Mrs. Bartel found some winning answers to what a good romance story should be, and now I see that, after all this time and several other books, she still can play them “against” the reader.
Do you need a simple story with events that can be controlled entirely by the characters or, despite that you want (at least, I want) a happy ending, a story in which the characters and their love will be put to the test? Hard. If you want the latest, you could try Andre.
When the blood vessel of love is harmed sometimes the haemorrhage could be fatal.
While the main character’s feelings are tested in a more visible and explicit way, his love interest suffers from reasons more profound and harder to understand.
In this story, there are more than one type of love. Different facets and different dimensions of the sentiment will gave consistency to the story and put possible traps in the characters’ ways or, on the contrary, they will offer the chance of survival: physical and emotional.
One of the things that I also liked was the camaraderie among male characters; they are brothers in arms for real. (Could be a preference for a Neil, in your works, Mrs. Bratel?). No one is left behind or one for all and all for one could be their logo. The story could use more action scenes, but, even if our guys could handle more, the author gave us enough for a romance. After all, this is not a story for boys and important is the healing nature of love. Because, isn’t it, love can conquer all.
Maybe one time or twice I was upset with her, maybe at some point I was disappointed with him, but, at the end, I liked the story. Mrs. Bartel made a habit of going “one shot – one kill”. Sounds familiar?
Be loved and Enjoy the ride!

Andre has been such a rock in all the other books so it was no surprise that he was still such a good guy. That being said, it wasn’t as steamy as some of the others and frankly Hero kind of stole the show as the hot good guy. Hope his story is good.

Kendall Reed (Decima Stephens) is on the run. She’s being hunted by her lunatic father. Escaped from the compound she was born and raised in, now they want her back, but she helped the FBI with information and she knows capture or return is a death sentence. She’s been hiding out with a biker friend, but he’s been compromised, so he’s turned her protection over to Andre. Kendall looks at the world a little differently because of her upbringing, but she knows she wants Andre. Problem is, she’s so screwed up in the head … and she knows she has an expiration date. It’s going to be soon because she can’t hide form her father forever. Too bad she can’t just hope for a while that Andre might actually be able to save her.
Andre Luna owns a private security company. He is former military as are all of his employees. They all have particular skill sets and he vets each of his clients before taking them on. He doesn’t like to deal with drama and potentially over dangerous cases and he won’t knowingly put his men in danger – not any more than comes with the job anyway. But Kendall gets thrown in his lap and as a favor he takes her on. He knows there is a hell of a lot more to her story than he’s getting, but he never dreamed it was as deep or serious as it actually is. He’s only got one choice now to save the woman he’s falling for … and it’s going to involve several of his combat friends. They’ve only got one chance and if they screw it up, Kendall is dead.
Full disclosure – this book contains a LOT of language. About half of it is cussing in Spanish, the rest is just bad words and graphic descriptions involving sex, lust, and death. Not saying I don’t read such books, but I felt this had more than “average”, so I wanted to mention it. At one point, even Kendall asks Andre if he thinks it’s any different cussing just because he’s doing it in Spanish. I’m sure it was meant as a joke or dig at Andre, but I was like, “I know, right?” I enjoyed this book, but had a difficult time because of the content. Andre is what I typically look for in an Alpha lead. His heritage comes out a lot in his dialogue, speaking Spanish rather frequently, but mostly in universal terms that anyone would recognize (at least in my opinion). His strong Alpha presence and Cuban heritage makes him a likeable, if not lovable character. He has skills, he knows it, and he uses them. And that’s hot! Kendall was a little different. Her mind is seriously warped. Almost to the point that I didn’t like her. I tried to be empathetic toward the character and found that I liked her a bit more when taking into consideration her circumstances and the crap she had dealt with. However, with the mental issues – you will notice it with some of the things she says – I revert back to “real life” and know that, as a couple, they would have one helluva long road ahead of them. But this is fiction, so it’s all sunshine and rainbows if we wish it, so OK. She’s also almost a contradiction of herself, exhibiting moments of extreme strength but cowering in fear at other times. I guess, in the end, I never really got a handle on her character and ultimately liked her, but didn’t love her.
I think I would read another book in this series because obviously the female leads won’t be the same character as Kendall, and I did very much enjoy Andre’s character. Additionally, Ms. Bartel did a good job with the secondary characters in the book. Both Andre’s team and Callan were developed to a point in which I’d like to read more about them. And I’d like to see where Ms. Bartel goes with other characters that don’t come from the same background as Kendall. Overall, I am always drawn to the romantic aspect of the story and for me, I was satisfied in that respect. I just regret not being able to connect with Kendall more. The story was somewhat harsh in both language and content and was just a bit too much for me. Maybe I am just too used to military reads glamorizing so much of the death and destruction. Others of you might read this book and react differently. Something like “hell yeah, finally, something I can sink my teeth in to”. But for me, I am fine with the romanticized versions. Despite my issues with this book, my strong like for Andre gives me pretty high hopes for the other books in the series. I’ll be sure to let you guys know what I think of them.

Kendall Reed has a past that she wouldn’t wish upon another soul, it has left her scarred beyond repair and riddled with memories she wish would just go away permanently. She is constantly looking over her shoulder waiting for it to finally catch up to her and make a reappearance, and when it does she is sure it will be something she never recover from. But in all the times she has imagined it she never thought she’d have a sexy protector standing beside her to face it head on…
Andre is a man of many talents, one of those being a protector, and his newest client may just be the hardest one he has come across to protect, and possibly the most beautiful one too. He met Kendall a few months ago, things didn’t go well, and since then she is all he has been able to think of, unfortunately she belongs to someone else, and he can’t bring himself to cross a friend to be with her. But sometimes things aren’t quite what they appear to be…
Andre is a sultry, dark, and emotionally rich read that will shake you to your core, and leave you breathless. This is by far one of the best reads that I have settled down with in quite a while, from the moment my eyes landed on the first page they took a hold of me, made my emotions started to swirl and even a day later and it still has me rattled! Ms. Bartel really did a number on me with this one, it had emotional depth, intense dark moments, an action packed story line that kept me teetering on the edge of my seat, and scorching intimate moments that left me with a permanent blush! I have been dying to get up close and personal with Andre since our first meeting, there was just something about the man that drew me in, and I have to say I’m beyond happy with what I discovered, he surpassed all my expectations!! Highly recommend this newest offering in The Uncompromising series, it’s sure to keep you captivated from start to finish!
