An intimate portrait of the life of Jackie O… wife, a devoted mother, a First Lady—a queen in her own right.
But all reigns must come to an end. Once JFK travels to Dallas and the clock ticks down those thousand days of magic in Camelot, Jackie is forced to pick up the ruined fragments of her life and forge herself into a new identity that is all her own, that of an American legend.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this novel. The author, Stephanie Marie Thornton, did a superb job in telling the story from “Jackie’s” point of view. The book related all of the history as I remembered it. The relationship between John Kennedy and Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy was very interesting.
Very good book. The mystique of JFK, Jackie, And the entire Kennedy family is always interesting to me. The fairy tale was so complicated!
I grew up during this period in history. I really could relate to the events happening. Very interesting read.
I could not finish this book and I cannot recommend!
I loved feeling like I was part of history in the days of Jackie and JFK. I had fun looking up pictures of dresses referred to in the book etc. This has been a great summer read-light, romantic, but with a bit of history.
Nothing new or outstanding in this book.
Interesting viewpoint.
I have always loved Jackie Kennedy and really enjoyed this book. Although it is fiction, so much of it clicks with things I have read through the years.
Well written and holds my interest
Absolutely terrible, I kept reading it hope to find some redeemable value but I didn’t.
Beautifully written!
This is wonderfully written. The narrative is in the first person from Jackie’s perspective. It gives great insight into her frame of mind at different points in her life. It does a good job of not painting any of the characters as pure saints or sinners, but as flawed humans trying to navigate the situations they found themselves in. I rarely read biographies, but this one was a must read!
Insightful and written with an eye towards truth and emotion. Great book!
It was like you were experiencing the Kennedy assassination all over again. Still heartbreaking!
I loved this book, the writing style & the unknown info that was imparted. I had to take a break as we got to the assassination part of the book, reading this as if it were her own words(some of them were) and about the children brought tears to my eyes. I hope the part of her reasons for marrying Ari in the book were the way she thought. I never imagined her having an affair with Bobby, but it did fit & make sense. Throughly enjoyed the book & will look for more from author.
I thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful take on the fascinating life of Jackie Kennedy. This beautifully written and well researched book really humanized Jackie for me like never before.
Bravo! I’ve always admired Jackie Onassis. Ms. Thornton gives us a glimpse into how it might have been for Jackie living her high profile life as First Lady. This novel is a exquisite tribute to Jackie.
Recommend to those who enjoy learning more about America’s icons.
I borrowed a copy from my local library. All views expressed are my honest opinion.
I have just read a book that had me deeply awestruck. Stephanie Marie Thornton wrote “And They Called It Camelot” as if she had personally interviewed Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis sitting beside her with a cup of tea. I had mixed feelings reading this book because of the many hardships Jacqueline went through. I was so angry at President Kennedy for being a playboy that I wanted to jump in the pages to slap the bejeebers out of him. I felt the incredible strength and bravery of Jacqueline as she dealt with the day-to-day emotional pain from her husbands betrayal to the assassination of her husband. The devotion to her children, though, made me so proud of her that it brought me to tears.
This well-written but sad story begins right before Jacqueline meets John F. Kennedy, known to everyone as Jack. Jacqueline loves Jack for his charm, brilliance and devotion to his country. As Jackie whispers, “You are going to do amazing things, Jack… And I’m going to be beside you every step of the way.”
I commend Stephanie Thornton for her extraordinary research to create a stunning novel that will be read by many. Her writing was so brilliant; making the story of Jackie come alive. I’m a historical fiction junkie and this novel ranked high as one of my favorites. This novel is set in my lifetime, too; making it even more engrossing. I enjoyed reading the novel parallel to looking up photographed images giving me a more vivid scene in my mind. I highly recommend this book for anyone wanting a look at the life of the beautiful Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis and why America loved her.
~This book was given to me in a giveaway in exchange for a fair and honest review.~
And They Called It Camelot by Stephanie Marie Thornton is an outstanding, well-written insight into who the real Jackie Kennedy Onassis really was. I have a new favorite book! The author brilliantly captured the relationship between Jackie and John F. Kennedy. Readers will be totally captivated as they get to meet the real, behind-the-dark glasses Jackie as the author takes readers on the magical, enchanting, glamorous and heartbreaking journey into the life of Jackie Kennedy Onassis. Readers will feel such emotion, cry and ache for the strong, independent, yet scared, insecure and sometimes intimidated Jackie felt by certain members of the Kennedy family as well as the many heartaches she silently endured by her husband’s womanizing ways as she is determined to never let the world, anything or anyone get the best of her. Without giving away any spoilers, readers will fall in love all over again page by page with the iconic Jackie Kennedy Onassis. The author has captured and makes readers feel they truly see Jackie for the first time in a timeline that is as close to perfect as you can get. The research in this book is diabolical perfection and this novel is historical fiction at its best. I was captivated from the very first page and was sorry when it ended. I only wish I could have rated it higher than a five as it deserves a much higher rating.
I love any thing surrounding the Kennedys and this doesn’t disappoint.
