Courtney Baker is ready to put small town life—and the man she can’t have—behind her. Years of secretly crushing on her best friend’s older brother have led nowhere and she’s finally ready to move on. It would have been a great plan had she not drunkenly blurted out all her feelings and kissed him. At least she’ll be able to forget all about it when she leaves town in less than 48 hours. It takes … hours.
It takes a lot to surprise Dean Jones, but a kiss from the girl he’s been secretly attracted to for years does just that. All it takes it one kiss for him to realize he doesn’t want to let her go. But she’s his sister’s best friend and that’s a line he knows he should never cross. Never mind that she seems determined to leave their small town—and him—behind.
When a storm and a broken car stop Courtney from leaving town, Dean sees perfect opportunity to get her out of his system. But can one night ever be enough?

I think this is my favorite Magnolia Sound book yet!
Dean and Courtney have been in each other’s lives forever. He’s her best friends older brother….completely off limits…..or so they both kept telling themselves.
Dean’s always been the fixer…..the person everyone goes to with their problems. What happens when the fixer needs fixed?
Adored this story and watching these 2 figure out what they needed…..together.
5 COURTNEY AND DEAN STARS!! I love these two so much!! I could not put this book down….what a great addition to the Magnolia Sound series. This story will touch all your emotion, which is what we grow to expect from Samantha Chase. You definitely need to read this book and series.
Dean Jones is the oldest of the Jones siblings, he tends to be the most responsible and the one that always cares for everyone else.
Courtney Baker is Scarlet Jones’ (Who is Dean’s little sister) best friend. Courtney is very happy for her best friend who is about to be married and have a baby, but can’t help but wonder when it will be her turn. After losing her job she decides it maybe time for a change.
This was a wonderful Best Friend’s Brother romance. One of my
Favorite tropes. It was a relaxing read with a lot of sweet, tenders moments, but also sexy and funny moments. It had me feeling good and wishing I could go visit Magnolia Sounds. I love the setting and all of the characters, not only the way Dean and Courtney seem to just click, but his brothers, dad and grandpa, they are all great. I am hoping we will see more of the Jones family in future books!! But until than you will definitely want to read And Then One Day!!
And Then One Day is book 4 in the Magnolia Sound series by Samantha Chase. And let me tell you I CAN’T GET ENOUGH OF THIS SERIES!!! I flipping LOVED
Courtney and Dean’s love story! This story is sweet, with some spice thrown in. I am a huge fan of best friends older brother romances and Samantha Chase crafted this one beautifully.
Samantha Chase always writes a beautiful, heartwarming and emotional story with a guaranteed HEA. She’s my go to author when I’m looking for a sweet, yet a tad bit sexy romance. She perfectly nailed the sexual chemistry, banter, everything in And Then One Day. A perfect storyline with characters you’ll ADORE!!
I highly recommend And Then One Day. Another perfect 5 star read from ms Chase!
And Then One Day Book 4 in Magnolia Sound
By Samantha Chase
5 Stars
Wow! Terrific! What a wonderful time spent in the town of Magnolia Sound! Loved every second of it!! Very well written! Love the main characters, Dean and Courtney. They filled my heart with sweet happiness!
“He spends so much time taking care of everyone else, that he rarely does anything for himself,” Scarlett went on. “But he never ever did anything that would hurt anyone.”
“I’ve had a crush on your brother since I was like fifteen years old and you never once noticed. And really, it’s none of your business.”
Very highly recommend! Get to one- clicking!
The fourth book in the Magnolia Sound series is just as delicious as the first three!
Courtney has crushed on her best friend’s older brother forever. Fearing she has no chance with him and having just lost her job, she decides to move away. Dean has always been the cautious older brother. He would never act on his attraction to his little sister’s best friend. But then she kisses him and nothing is the same.
I loved Dean and Courtney’s whirlwind steamy romance. This series is absolutely fantastic and this was a great addition! I can’t wait for more!!
This series is a delight. The other couples stories have all alluded to Courtney and Deans story, but it is finally here and I am so excited! At first glance it seems the standard crush on best friends brother, but we quickly see that there is more to the story as their backgrounds and current life situations are shared.
As with all SC stories I was swept up in the community and characters life’s. Courtney is shown to be more loud and the life of the party and Dean is shown as more then just the strict secondary father figure. Their time being an HGTV couple was so fun and one I think we all have thought about! While it is not Scarlett and Masons story they still were featured prominently as her wedding and pregnancy take a starring role in some of the new couples milestones. There are some great lessons to take from this story (and series) about love, communication, and family. All of the characters are vivid and I can’t wait to see more of them, especially Dean and Scarletts dad and grandpa. They have won my heart in these last few stories! I feel as though Magnolia Sounds and its residents would be a delight to visit.
Thanks for the chance to read this book and share my opinions!
Another visit to Magnolia Sound! This magical town and it’s citizens have become like family, just like other series by Ms. Chase. We’ve fallen in love with Mason, Scarlett, Susannah and Colton, Mallory and Jake and of course, Sam and Shelby. This is the love story of Courtney and Dean.
We’ve watched Courtney as everyone around her found their HEA. She has been the fun friend, the girl who loves having a good time and encouraging others to take a risk on love. It’s not so easy when she’s trying to make a life for herself as others are moving on. She feels like she needs a clean break and the stars align for her to get that break. But before she can reach the city limits, the stars decide to sparkle in a different direction. And with a little help from their friends, the stars start to sparkle in Dean’s eyes. But Courtney has always had feelings for him and he was a little too off limits. He was her best friends oldest brother. He was older and more mature. And he never even looked her way.
Dean doesn’t know what’s happening. All of a sudden, his little sister is married and pregnant. His brothers are acting crazy toward his sister’s best friend and he’s getting all kinds of thoughts about her himself. Seems like the planets are off the axis and everything is off kilter, including himself.
I’ve loved getting to know and being a part of this series. The characters are not perfect. They are truly flawed humans who are just living their lives and falling in love. I truly enjoy seeing the couples from book to book and watching them grow and change. And knowing the HEA are going to be there helps me enjoy the trip.
I really enjoyed this book. I liked how the book started off and watching Courtney and Dean ‘watch’ each other while they didn’t want the other one to know. I did enjoy these two and the will they – won’t they. I was glad when they finally decided to take a chance, even though they tried to keep it a secret, however someone is always paying attention and it never stays a secret very long as we find out. When Scarlett came up with her plan, while it was good in theory, I knew in the end that someone was going to get hurt and unfortunately it was Courtney. I did appreciate Dean and the extra mile he went to make sure Courtney knew he was all in with her and the ending with these two and the setting, perfect. I also enjoyed the new addition we got to meet in this book, a great part of the story. My favorite line from this story was, ‘I think this was the most perfect day ever.’ I can’t wait to see who we get to read about next in this series.
Samantha Chase mixes up equal parts family, friendship, romance, ads sprinkles of humor and the result is a delicious romance you won’t be able to put down.
Dean and Courtney were a couple I wanted to root for. I’m a sucker for the brother’s best friend trope so I was all over this story. I found Courtney a bit immature when it comes to heroines, but hey, we all have our moments and he character grows and learns. Dean was as swoony as they come. I wanted to just wrap him up and tell him it was all going to be okay and to go get his girl. Thankfully these two get it together and find their HEA.
BFF’s sibling romances are my all time favorite romance trope. Even if you yourself never crushed on your siblings’ bestie (or your bestie’s sibling), doesn’t just the thought of something slightly forbidden, but not in an icky way, make you want to know more?
Courtney definitely knew what she was doing when she started crushing on her friend Scarlett’s older brother Dean. That man made me need to fan myself in more than one occasion! Yes, he was also sometimes frustrating, as those brooding, not-great-with-words types are. But dealing with Courtney, who was both impetuous and flighty at the story’s beginning, couldn’t have been easy.
Thankfully, the each got out of their own way! I did have an issue with two secondary characters, though…Mason and Scarlett, our couple from book three. Pregnancy turned her into a needy shrew and him into a lap dog. I wanted to strangle her for her treatment of Courtney. In fact, I might have had to take a long break from that friendship for my own sanity.
But these 5 stars are for Dean, Courtney and especially the always wonderful storytelling of Ms. Chase. Is it any wonder that her books are constantly on the top on my wish list and to-be-read pile. I’ve said it before, but Magnolia Sound is a great place to visit!
Who hasn’t had a crush on an older guy? Who hasn’t had a crush on a best friend’s brother? Courtney has done both with the same guy, Dean. She can’t do anything with it though since her friendship with her best friend is more important. Until she is ready to move away. Then all bets are off and she goes for it, even if it’s only a kiss. Dean has been keeping an extra eye on Courtney as well. But his cautious nature makes him take a back seat and observe.
I loved how they navigate a semi friendship that has been around forever into more. Dean has been thrust into adulthood way too soon and as a result, he does take things too slow. Courtney is somewhat the opposite. She doesn’t always think about things first but she makes decisions from her heart. Dean balances her out and visa versa. Both of them have life changing decisions to make and they must find it in themselves to consider not only each other but themselves.
Courtney has crush on her best friend oldest brother for a long time, but now she starts new life.
After loosing her job, her parents renting the house, she decide to move to big city, just after she gets to kiss Dean.
Will those to find happiness?
Love this book, Dean and Courtney are awesome.
Courtney and Dean’s love story in And Then One Day, book 4 in Samantha Chase’s Magnolia Sound series, is an emotional and heartwarming tale of family and finding love when you think no one has noticed you. Courtney Baker is tired of not being noticed, especially by the man she has always wanted; her best friend’s older brother, Dean Jones. When her boss retire puts her out of a job, Courtney thinks this is the perfect time to move away from small town life; which she will do shortly after her best friend’s wedding. Everything would have gone smoothly if not for Courtney drunkenly blurting out her feelings and kissing Dean. At least, she believed, she would be leaving town in a couple of days so it shouldn’t matter. Dean is shocked by this kiss, only because he’s also been secretly attracted to Courtney, for years. But, she’s his sister’s best friend and that’s a line he knows not to cross. Driving through standing water puts her car out of commission, causing Dean Jones to come get her and tow her car. This gives him the chance to keep her in town for a little while and maybe enough time for him to get her out of his system.
I loved Drew Jones!! He was kind, caring, dependable, and take charge. Being the eldest, he became a caretaker for his younger siblings, especially after the death of their mother. He didn’t worry about himself or what he wanted; he dropped everything when they needed him. The biggest problem was one night with Courtney would never be enough for Dean. Not sure a lifetime would. Courtney needed to feel loved, especially from Drew. She especially needed to love herself, before accepting the situation she was in, job-wise at least. One Day they were friends and then another day they belonged to each other.
Ms. Chase wrote a wonderful, heartwarming and emotional story that is not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with sexual chemistry, amusing banter, and endearing characters giving Courtney and Dean the love and happiness needed for them to have a forever life together. I highly recommend And Then One Day to other readers and look forward to reading the next book in this series.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
And Then One Day
Magnolia Sound # 4
Samantha Chase
In think we’ve all read a best friends romance, this one would be one my favourites. Dean Jones is the sexy mechanic that has sprays been the family man, but not in the daddy way. After the death of his mum he became the one his brothers and sister came to to fix their dramas. And as an adult is still the same… but one night, one drunken comment will change forever.
Coutney Baker has always been in love with her best friends brother. Courtney and Scarlett have been friends forever, they dreamed of loves, marriage and have babies together. Now Scarlett has her forever with a baby in the way, and Courtney is unemployed, homeless and ready to leave Magnolia behind for a new start. Leaving her long time love behind.
After a drunken confession bought in by alcohol with Dean, and her true feeling known she’s in even bigger trouble. A night of pleasure with him is the perfect non perfect goodbye. But yet again nothing goes to plan and Courtney finds herself broken down again heading back to Magnolia… Nothing is going right, but Dean has a helping hand ready for her. Another passionate night, more feelings and no way out Courtney is drowning…
But Dean is the one holding the secrets, ones keeping Courtney in Magnolia, ones she has no idea about. Needing to find his footings and the lies eating away at him, will Courtney forgive and forget or will he lose everything he didn’t know he wanted !
Courtney was even more awesome than I had hoped! Meeting her in Mason and Scarlett’s book as Scar’s best friend gave me high hopes for this spunky, take-charge gal. She turned out to be a well-rounded character that had plenty of self-doubt to go with her sass. She was easy to relate to, especially as she hunted for a job – she wanted to do what she loved and what she had worked hard for, not just something to pass the time.
Dean, oh Dean. Always the serious one, Courtney basically has to smack him upside the head to see what’s right in front of him. He can’t believe his little sister’s best friend has had a crush on him for years – and not only did he not know about it, but apparently he was the only one who didn’t catch on!
How these two handle their newfound mutual attraction was not always great. Sometimes being too worried about what the world thinks makes you forget to live your life. Something they have to learn the hard way. I loved how close Courtney is with Scarlett and getting to see Dean interact with Mason showed how the family has come around. Dean’s relationships with his brothers caught my attention too – I can’t wait for Hunter’s story!!!
This was another great addition to the Magnolia Sound series and I can’t wait for more of this town and these families!
Reading a Samantha Chase book is like visiting familiar friends. If you’re into the Magnolia Sound series, you’re going to love this one. If you haven’t read any of them yet, you’re in for a treat! You can start with And Then One Day because it’s a standalone … and Ms. Chase’s writing is so good that she brings you up to speed with the series even if you start beyond the first book.
The synopsis gets it right … Courtney and Dean have been secretly crushing on each other for years but haven’t told anyone … not their family or friends .. even Dean’s sister Scarlett who is Courtney’s best friend. This book is about both of them giving into what they can no longer deny … but it’s more. Characters are what Ms. Chase does best. Courtney is at a crossroad in her life. Her parents are finally enjoying retirement and are leaving town for an extended period of time. She’s lost her job as the only dentist has retired … on top of that, it seems that her love life has flatlined. She thinks her only option is to leave town … permanently … and she puts plans in motion.
Dean is his family’s rock. He is so busy solving everyone’s problems that he doesn’t spend anytime on himself…. including romantically. His business is going well, working for his father, but life isn’t as exciting as he thinks it should be. He’s the emotional support for his brothers (Nate and Hunter) and sister Scarlett.
When Courtney takes a chance at Scarlett’s wedding, things get bumped up a notch … and when Court’s car breaks down on her way out of town … but things really get ratcheted up when Dean is the one to come to her aid.
And Then One Day (Magnolia Sound Book 4) And Then One Day is everything that Ms. Chase does so well. Characters that are real, a town (Magnolia Sound) you’ll want to move to … full of people that you hope are hiding out in your town, and scenes that you wish you were a part of. Her writing gets better and better!
Download this book now. You’ll be glad you did … but make sure you have plenty of time to read because you’re going to want to barricade yourself in a quiet room and binge read And Then One Day.
I received an ARC. This is my honest reviewSamantha Chase
And Then One Day is book 4 in the Magnolia Sound Series by Samantha Chase. Another awesome book written by the amazingly talented Samantha Chase. Every time you think her books can’t get any better they do and this one was no exception. I loved reading about Courtney and Dean, meeting up with characters from the previous books again. A great storyline, awesome characters, funny, romantic it really keeps you engaged. I absolutely loved this book. I am anxiously waiting for the next book in this incredible series.
From heart tingles to heartaches, Magnolia Sound is the premier destination for swoonworthy romance. Samantha Chase started something special with a little slice of heaven, irresistible characters and tempting storytelling. From heroes that dare to dream to heroines determined to make their mark and emotions that will forever endure, Magnolia Sound just keeps getting better. And Then One Day, let’s readers revisit own friends while finding new ones. Court and Dean turn what if into a sentimental ride into forever. A heartwarming love story that’s been years in the making.
Such a sweet read. I couldn’t wait for Courtney and Dean’s book since I sensed the chemistry in In Case You Didn’t Know. This book didn’t disappoint. It may actually be my new favorite Magnolia Sound book. This book just seems so real and I love how Courtney was the one to make the first move. Dean is the caregiver of the whole group but he finally found someone to look out for him as well. I loved updates on Scarlett and Mason and getting to know Hunter and Kyle better. I hope those 2 each get their own books as well. And updates on Courtney and Dean starting a family.
