An unforgettable novel about finding a lost piece of yourself in someone else.Khaled Hosseini, the #1 New York Times–bestselling author of The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns, has written a new novel about how we love, how we take care of one another, and how the choices we make resonate through generations. In this tale revolving around not just parents and children but brothers and … parents and children but brothers and sisters, cousins and caretakers, Hosseini explores the many ways in which families nurture, wound, betray, honor, and sacrifice for one another; and how often we are surprised by the actions of those closest to us, at the times that matter most. Following its characters and the ramifications of their lives and choices and loves around the globe—from Kabul to Paris to San Francisco to the Greek island of Tinos—the story expands gradually outward, becoming more emotionally complex and powerful with each turning page.

There were a large number of characters, but they all tied together to make an incredible story. The book painted a vivid picture of a country in turmoil and how difficult that is for the people living through it.
Better than “The Kite Runner,” which I also loved.
One of those rate books that changes the way you see the world. A must read!
Very engrossing and inspiring.
I’m sorry I could not get past the first couple of chapters…very depressing. Not my cup of tea…
Loved all three of his books!
Powerful, related short stories of Afghan families from the 1960s to the present, showing the difficulties of solving their political problems and the tragic impacts on their lives
Always a beautifully told story! Story about the complexity of war-torn peoples and communities.
Excellent story telling!
The relationship between the two women in the story is truly inspirational
Very good, but the content makes it difficult to read.
Beautifully written
I really like this author. The Kite Runner was a wonderful story and I loved
Following Jewish families in Poland before, during and after WWII
It’s Khaled so come on. It’s good
not as good as his first book
I read this book a few years ago but I remember that I enjoyed it. I also enjoyed the author’s other book “The Kite Runner”
Extremely descriptive of different times and places. The story is interwoven and moves around, introducing characters so that you need to focus a bit on who’s who. The ending ties everything together well. No happy endings here but then that is part of the poignancy. Characters are very well drawn, I enjoyed this one as I have others by this author.
No words can describe how much I love this book. Khaled Hosseini writes in such a poetic way that just flows. The interconnections between characters and their stories is a work of genius.
This was a good book. It didn’t live up to his first two books. But it is worth the read.
