An unforgettable novel about finding a lost piece of yourself in someone else.Khaled Hosseini, the #1 New York Times–bestselling author of The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns, has written a new novel about how we love, how we take care of one another, and how the choices we make resonate through generations. In this tale revolving around not just parents and children but brothers and … parents and children but brothers and sisters, cousins and caretakers, Hosseini explores the many ways in which families nurture, wound, betray, honor, and sacrifice for one another; and how often we are surprised by the actions of those closest to us, at the times that matter most. Following its characters and the ramifications of their lives and choices and loves around the globe—from Kabul to Paris to San Francisco to the Greek island of Tinos—the story expands gradually outward, becoming more emotionally complex and powerful with each turning page.

Didn’t live up to my expectations after reading the author’s previous books.
Not as good as The Kite Runner and 1000 Spendid Subs but a different view of life
If you want to understand how people in another part of the world, like Afghanistan live – and have lived – read this book. It
really opened my eyes to what we don’t see on our news – their daily life, struggles, and dreams.
Did not enjoy it.
Another fabulous book by an amazing author!
This book was a very good read. It gave a great picture of life and trials in Afghanistan while also creating a web of interwoven lives. Each chapter was like a new story that left you waiting to see who the new character was and how their life would end up being connected in the web.
Did not finish this book. Lost interest.
Was informative about a country much in the news, but from a point of view of the people affected by the events. Author is an artist with carefully-drawn characters who have realistic, heartfelt motivations . Resolutions are sometimes disappointing, but always understandable. Will read everything he writes when the Kindle price is right!
This is an excellent book and I definitely recommend it to everyone! The interweaving of characters and their development is so satisfying and well done. I feel we shall all learn something about the humanity of the
Afghan people and feel we know them and their struggles.
Interesting story of a family following their lives as refugees to modern day in America.
This author has written some wonderful novels this one’s just as good as the others
A compelling read!
What a journey through cultures, decades, and relationships!
Too many characters, introduced too randomly, too many stories under this one title, too many beginnings, unsatisfactory (for me) ending.
It does not get better than Kalid Hossini.
Another beautiful and emotional story by one of my favorite authors.
An exceptional story – requires attentive reading
