“Honest and moving . . . Her painful tale is engrossing.”—Washington Post Book WorldFor most of us, it was just another horrible headline. But for Deborah Spungen, the mother of Nancy, who was stabbed to death at the Chelsea Hotel, it was both a relief and a tragedy. Here is the incredible story of an infant who never stopped screaming, a toddler who attacked people, a teenager addicted to … people, a teenager addicted to drugs, violence, and easy sex, a daughter completely out of control—who almost destroyed her parents’ marriage and the happiness of the rest of her family.

An unbelievable story – every parent’s worst nightmare, but the family was inspirational, and even the daughter had redeeming qualities. I wondered what she could have become if she had gotten help early on. The psychiatric help available at that time was beyond useless. I can’t believe they withheld a diagnosis and lied to the parents. How …
Insightful to parenting troubled children.
with a mother like her, no wonder Nancy ran
I could not put this book down. I felt a connection with the mother because I am going thru some of the same issue that she dealt with for years. I know her daughter is at peace now. I will keep the family in my prayers and hope they work outs the rest of there differences.

Such a sad story.
Compeling!

I thought it was unreasonable for them not to seek other opinions when their daughter was so obviously in need of much help. She instead allowed her to totally take control of the family and catered to her psychotic whims. Nancy totally tore that family apart and affected all of their relationships. She should have had very intense therapy and …
Excellent writing and nothing was hidden by the author. So sad that she was writing about her own daughter. I remember, vaguely, the story of Sid and Nancy. Tragic!
