Always like Nero Wolfe. Rex Stout always creates great characters and uses wit and psychology to solve his cases. A modern day Sherlock Holmes.
Nero Wolfe and Archie Goodwin always manage to thwart the bad guys and save the day
I’m a mystery buff, but, surprisingly I hadn’t read any Rex Stout Nero Wolfe stories. I stumbled upon “And Four To Go” by accident and it proved to be a wonderful introduction. The really good news is that there are lots and lots of Nero Wolfe novels–if just finished reading “Fer-de-lance,” the first in the series–and I plan to read them all. …
It was nice to visit an old friend. Haven’t read any Rex Stout in a lot of years. These four stories were used like a breather between full novels. Maybe considered dated, but I enjoyed each one.
There are some forty or so Nero Wolfe books. I’ve read them all at least three times and recommend every one of them. They are great fun.
Classic Rex Stout in easily digestible form. It’s not the mystery, it’s the experience of keeping company with Nero Wolfe and Archie Goodwin that makes his work so endearing.
I am a big fan of Nero Wolfe, and this book did not disappoint. I love the way he stays true to the series as well as his creation of the main characters.
You cannot go wrong with a Rex Stout mystery. Four of them constitute a bonanza! The genius, Nero Wolfe, weighs a seventh of a ton and prefers to spend his time growing orchids and planning gourmet meals with his live-in chef. But inevitably someone ends up murdered and Nero must put aside his pastimes and direct his legman, Archie Goodwin, to …
Rex Stout was a master of mystery. Although Archie and Wolfe did not seem to age, they always stayed current with the times when the stories took place.
I haven’t read a Nero Wolfe book in 30 years. Very happy to return to reading this wonderful character. I like short stories because the ending comes sooner ! These short stories were typical Nero Wolfe and I enjoyed them.
Rex Stout does not fail a quick read that entertains – great for a rainy weekend
I have read Rex Stout’s stories several times over @ different points in my life and each time is enjoyable – the right touch of eccentric behavior, right touch of story line and the story sells itself without excessive violence or sex.
Set of four Nero Wolfe mystery stories. As always once you have read the solution it is clear how he solved it. If you have read any Nero Wolfe stories, you know how this book is written,
I just love Rex Stout. Wish American TV would produce series based on Nero Wolfe and Ellery Queen.
This collection of four short stories featuring Nero Wolfe and Archie Goodwin is great if you’re looking for a quick mystery. Because of the length there are fewer loose ends to keep track of, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that you will figure out the villain because Stout doesn’t always play fair. It’s not uncommon for Nero Wolfe to have a …
Rex Stout’s books are great!
Rex Stout could actually write. Great book.
Four Nero Wolfe/Archie Goodwin novelettes – typical but enjoyable. Rex Stout nearly always satisfies – I’ve been reading these for over 60 years.
I just love Rex Stout’s Nero Wolfe books – the top mysteries I’ve ever read and its fascinating to see how the author works out having Wolfe solving the mystery without him ever leaving his New York City brownstone. Gives a good idea of what life was like in New York City in the 1930’s and 40’s. Nobody writes like Rex Stout – informative, …
Great book and highly recommended
