First published by St. Martin’s in 1958, Robert Traver’s Anatomy of a Murder immediately became the number-one bestseller in America, and was subsequently turned into the successful and now classic Otto Preminger film. It is not only the most popular courtroom drama in American fiction, but one of the most popular novels of our time.A gripping tale of deceit, murder, and a sensational trial, … sensational trial, Anatomy of a Murder is unmatched in the authenticity of its settings, events, and characters. This new edition should delight both loyal fans of the past and an entire new generation of readers.

This book was recommended (I thought largely on the strength of its angling-obsessed protagonist), so its fame and subsequent success on the silver screen rather passed me by.
Still, I prefer not to read reviews beforehand, so that was fine. It is described on the cover as ‘The Original Classic Courtroom Thriller’. I would say ‘drama’ would be …
Already reviewed it.
Loved reading this book. Hated for it to end. I couldn’t put it down once I started reading. Wish there were more like this.
Mr. Traver’s book is an all-time classic which we all should read and enjoy. Simply terrific entertainment.
I appreciate Book Bub offering this. I thought I had read this classic during my college days but had not. No matter what you usually read if you will enjoy both the story and the author’s unique but very readable style
GREAT BOOK! Memorable – There is a reason this is a “Classic” – it’s fantastic!
Still a great read and addition to any library!
Too much courtroom drama at the end. I finally skipped ahead 20 or so pages to the verdict. The last chapter, is a treasure
THE classic courtroom novel. Written by a former Michigan judge, there’s not a false beat. And yes, this was the basis for the iconic black and white movie with James Stewart, George C. Scott, Lee Remick, and Ben Gazzara, and oddly enough, Duke Ellington and his band.
