A new Southern Roots standalone… Azalea Barnes has hated Drake Collins since the day he broke her teenaged heart. Fast forward almost seven years later and her libido still hasn’t gotten the memo. Now they’re frenemies… with benefits. Which suits Azalea just fine. She gets what her body craves while keeping her heart safe. Kind of. Mostly. Drake has loved Azalea since the day they met. He …
Drake has loved Azalea since the day they met. He knows that she’s his forever. Too bad she only sees him as a good time. He wants more. Needs more.
If only he could convince her that it’s real this time. He’s more determined than ever to prove to Azalea that chemistry like theirs doesn’t exist only in the bedroom.
The odds may be against Drake, but he’s prepared for an uphill battle.
Please note: This title can be read as a complete STANDALONE.

Swoony doesn’t begin to describe Uphill Battle. This second book from the Southern Roots series will make you want to read in one sitting just as book one did. You can’t help fall in love and root for Azalea and Drake. This pair definitely has some hot chemistry and really enjoyed the push and pull. I did get frustrated with them a time or two and wanted to jump in the book and make them get their heads straight. But who doesn’t love good banter?
Azalea is one hard-headed and hot headed girl, and I loved her! The amazing friendship she has with Myla is one to be envied. With issues from her past, her views on men are jaded, especially when it comes to Drake. So even if she has him right in front of her, it’s hard for her to get past her own insecurities and tries to stay guarded. When she finally comes around, will it be too late to let her true feelings show?
Oh Drake, how sweet are you! Completely hot, and completely clueless where he goes wrong. But he’s just as stubborn as Azalea. Thing is, is that he doesn’t give up easily. With both of them doing the pulling, when is enough, enough?
Biggest problem with these two aside from their own separate issues is their lack of communication. Which I can totally understand with relationships now days. There’s alot of trial and error with them, but I loved watching them slowing figuring it out. Their whole group of characters have their own intriguing personalities that just suck you in and want to get to know them more.
LK Farlow hits her mark again with this story and her characters. Makes you want to jump in and become part of the crew too. I can’t wait to see what she’ll come up with for the rest of these girls from Southern Roots!
