All my father wanted was to appease Clan Mackay. Maybe after he made a deal they would stop their raids and maintain the peace of the Laird’s lands and keep the promises they had broken again, and again. But what my father hadn’t bargained on was that Lachlann Mackay, the fearsome leader of the warlike clan at our doorstep, would want a bride in exchange for his peace.A promise is a promise, and … is a promise, and my sister will do her duty to our father, but when she disappears on her wedding day there is only one person who could take her place, but the last thing I want is to be tied to a filthy barbarian for the rest of my life. But if I do not—if I go against my father’s wishes and break the oath that was made, all of our lives are in danger.
Reader beware — “An Unwilling Bride” features lots of plaid, possible historical inaccuracies, a high-spirited heroine facing off against a sword-swinging alpha-hero worthy of some serious swooning, and a dastardly plot that could ruin everything. There is no cheating to be found here, and a Highland HEA is guaranteed.
Inside every history book is a heartthrob waiting to be discovered…

I enjoyed this story though it does not end with this book. Catriona was a strong woman and a bit reckless. She was loyal to her family and did as was expected. Despite a rough beginning, she found her heart taken by Lachlann. He was reckless in his own way but took great pride in his family and their holdings, wanting better for all. Danger, kidnapping, with some fun and loving moments kept me turning pages.
I received a copy of this book through CBR Services, and this is my unsolicited review.
The writing was very good, it kept my attention. It was very entertaining and easy to read. The only flaw that I remember was it was a cliffhanger. I do not like to read or buy them. But to give it it’s due
It was o.k. The characters were well done and engaging. It did have some sexy scenes if that is not your forte.
Catriona MacCullach was the youngest daughter, feisty, stubborn and headstrong. While her older sister, Morag, but she was a lady and did all kinds of ladylike things. She ran the house for her father. While Cat worked outside with the men. They go to a clan gathering and are taken to argyll where the laird is when they are raided by the MacKays. Their solution is to marry off one of the two girls to join the two clans. Lachlan MacKay was the oldest son. His mother was the laird since her husband had been killed.
I highly recommend this novel but probably only those over eighteen.
I received this ARC from the author and voluntarily reviewed it.
I very much enjoyed this book right up until the final pages when I realized that despite this being in the blurb: “a Highland HEA is guaranteed.” the darn book ends on a cliffhanger! To give the author her due, I really, very much, totally want to know what happens next so from that point of view, success! But it did lose that fifth star and nearly another one for that unexpected surprise.
The story itself is a real page-turner, lots of action, lots of intrigue, nice romance aspect, very strong cast of supporting characters. The MCs (especially Lachlann) were well written and complex. Cat… I’m still deciding if she’s headstrong and independent or sometimes annoying, but there were times when I really liked her. The dialogue has just enough dialect in it to make you feel like you are reading a Highlander romance without so much it becomes difficult to follow.
I picked this up on Kindle Unlimited where it is available at the time of this review. I will be continuing on with the series and can recommend it to those who like historical romance with a bit of steam.
Well not even halfway into this month into the new year and already discovered new to me authors such as this one. The delight of a reader is stepping into a romance that is centered back in day with it really taking you there as this one did. This also goes like a war clan story with one wanting something from the other and the real battle will begin. In this it is mainly from one of the characters point of view though but still enjoyable. Cat is a character to be reconned with but the sister kinda leaves her hanging I would say. What happens then is what will be at a bit of a fast pace with us along for the ride to see how this will turn out. Kinda miss the battle of the wills that could of been presented more in this but still a romance to capture a heart.
Despite the unexpected cliffhanger, the potential TSTL issue/moment right before the aforementioned evil cliffhanger, and that it doesn’t make sense that Cat would want to return to her father after his callous betrayal, this was a terrific book full of great characters, even though some of them aren’t worthy of actual love. Family duty, sisterly bonds, trust, intrigue, guilt, abandonment, and love are some of the underlying themes in this well written tale about the mysterious powers of love. I can’t wait to read what happens next.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
This historical romance was really well written, with few if any typos, well constructed sentences, and great pacing. This story took place entirely from the heroine’s point of view, which is different from most of the modern romance novels I have read. The pacing and swift moving plot was one of this novel’s great strengths, and the characterization of the heroine was vibrant and well done. This reader did not get much of a feel for the character of the hero, but that was mostly a function of the fact that we don’t get any of his point of view in this installment. The one nasty surprise for this reader was that this is the first installment of a series that ends on a cliffhanger, and I did not realize that when I was reading this novel. As a general rule I won’t read series that end on cliffhangers, and tend to avoid authors who make a habit of writing them because I want a Happy Ever After ending at the end of all my romance novels. Aside from that, The novel was exciting and well written. I recommend this story for historical romance fans who like cliffhanger endings. An all around good read.

Strong willed, decided and ready to action Catriona MacCullach couldn’t understand how her father could betray his daughters and she was intended to fight the Mackays all the way. But Fate had mysterious ways and the heart was an accomplice. Liked Cat’s character and her inquisitive mind. Interesting Lackland ways. He was not as fierce with Cat as the Mackeys were portrayed. Intrigued with Morag and her expectations. What would she think after what happened to her? A story with feudal struggles, drama, amusing situations, violence, mysterious characters and heated passion. The mystery was not resolved so, the story continues in the second book.
The first book in the Highlander’s Honor series a well written story with a very good storyline the story flowed smoothly from page to page. This is Lachlann Mackay and Catriona/Cat MacCullach’s story of a woman who ends up as a bride after her sister is kidnapped. I want to read the next book. This really is a good story. I like both characters. Catriona is independent, brave, headstrong and her antics are hilarious. Lachlann is a fearless warrior with a soft side when it comes to her, he is so patient with her. I enjoyed reading this, it’s full of drama, adventure and emotion, I was shocked and a little disappointed that it ends with unfinished business. I am captivated with their story and patiently await reading what comes next for these highlanders. I received a free copy without obligation and am voluntarily reviewing.
