Event planner Rachel Persopoulos doesn’t have an impulsive bone in her body. The one time she threw caution to the wind, she wound up alone and pregnant, just like her mother before her. Now her life as a single mom only works because of her determined avoidance of anything that isn’t part of her plans. But when her boss assigns her a massive Christmas charity fundraiser, she learns the … celebrity face of the event is the one person she never planned on seeing again.
All-Star catcher Cameron Cole never stopped thinking about the woman who dumped him via text message two years ago—though he never expected to find her coordinating a celebrity bachelor auction. He’d fallen hard for Rachel, and when she ghosted on him he’d told himself it was for the best. He’d been in the middle of a messy divorce—which, yes, he should have told her about, but she should definitely have told him he’d fathered a child!
When he meets his baby daughter for the first time, Cam knows instantly that he wants to be part of her life—a desire which becomes more complicated when he realizes he still has feelings for her mother.
Rachel isn’t sure she can trust Cam again, but if he isn’t the married playboy she thought was using her, could he be exactly what she needs? She wasn’t planning on letting him back into her life, but this Christmas nothing is going as planned…

Oh how I love holiday stories (especially) when the characters are SO surprised that life isn’t always as it seems. An Unplanned Christmas was heartbreaking AND heartwarming, from the very start, because Rachel Persopoulos and Cameron (Cam) Cole both have what they consider devastating personal issues to deal with, from their pasts. It takes most of the story for them to realize that they need to work on their own personal “inside” stories before life can move on…and/maybe for both of them.
I won’t give any spoilers but Rachel and Cam have a child together – Cam has no idea his baby daughter exists until he meets up with Rachel years later. It sounds heartbreaking, and it is, but I loved how Cam persisted in being in their lives again and how much he immediately loved his baby girl. He and Rachel “work” together, too, but it takes time and trust to make it happen.
Great read, truly heartwarming, and a wonderful Christmas in July story!
Her hangup is her dad who cheated to have sex with her mom and never left his wife… Then she gets evidence her new guy is cheating on his wife with her so she dumps him… finds out she’s pregnant … and 2 years later they cross paths again. It is a really good read as to how they unwind his hangups with ‘not good enough’ and her hangups with men who cheat. I like all the people surrounding them.
Removed from my download couldn’t get past the first chapter.
Loved the charters and the way they was portrayed.
When you run into the father of your child who doesn’t know he has a child can you enough trust to believe he isn’t still in love eith his x eife and didn’t lie to you the first time or will history repeat its self and he vhoosed her over you and his daughter.
This book has wonderful characters and a great story line. Recommend
A fun read as the heroine finds her ability to trust. A quick and easy read.
A quick fun read ! I enjoyed it immensely.
An Unplanned Christmas is book three in the Yours for Christmas series by Lizzie Shane. This is a sweet second chance romance. I would call it a clean romance, in that the sex scene is fade to black.
Two years ago, Cameron Cole, an up and coming professional baseball player, met Rachel Persopoulos and fell fast and hard. They spent a little over three weeks inseparable. Cameron failed to let Rachel know that he was technically still married, in name only, the divorce pending. He had fallen so hard for Rachel he was afraid it would scare her off. But she did find out, and it did scare her away. She ended things with a text message. But found out soon after that she would forever be tied to who she thought was a cheater. She was pregnant.
Fast forward two years. Cameron is more successful than ever and has been slated as the headliner celebrity for a bachelor auction for a charity Cam supports. Rachel is struggling as a single mother of an eighteen month old toddler as well as working full time for an event planner. When Cam walks in to the office to be briefed regarding the auction, both he and Rachel are in for quite a surprise when they come face to face.
Rachel has a past, a father who left lasting scars on her resulting in trust issues. She never told Cam about the baby. He didn’t know he had a daughter. When they are forced to spend time together, he gets the opportunity to explain and Rachel learns she had misconstrued the entire situation two years ago. She knows she has to tell him the truth.
Neither Cam or Rachel ever really got over the other. What they shared was strong. Now as they attempt to learn how to co-parent, the feelings have a chance to grow again, strengthen. But Rachel still has to learn how to trust, how to give in. Every time she starts to let down her defenses just a little bit, something will remind her of her childhood and those walls slam right back up. How can Cam convince her that he would never hurt her? That she is all he ever wants?
This was such a sweet story. I loved Cam. I REALLY loved Cam’s family, especially his oldest sister, Carly. She was hilarious with her over sharing and her blunt way of letting her brother know what he was doing wrong. I clearly understood Rachel’s reasons for feeling the way she did. Still, I did struggle a little bit with her keeping the knowledge of the baby from Cam and I got a little frustrated at how hard she tried to keep herself from falling for him again. But, of course, with the magic of Christmas at hand, she figured it all out in time. This book had the sweetest epilogue. I have not read the other two Christmas books in this series but if this one sounds good to you, then you definitely should check those out as well.
An Unplanned Christmas is book three in the Yours for Christmas series. This is one of my favorite kinds of stories. I loved their chemistry, and I just couldn’t put this one down. It’s a must-read!
Rachel and Cam became involved years ago but she left without telling him about their child when she felt he was lying to her. Now, they are brought back together and the secret comes out and truths are shared.
Christmas is the season of miracles and I enjoy romances set during this happy time of the year. I really liked how Cam stepped up when he found out and wanted to do the right thing. I thought they made a very good couple and a sweet family.
I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received.
Rachel and Cam had a quick fling 2 years ago. But when she found out he was married, she took off and ended it by text message. So when Cam enters her life again as part of a work project she’s determined to do her job and not get involved. But for Cam, she’s the one that got away and he’s never gotten over her. Rachel’s mom and grandma also feel that she needs to come clean on a secret she’s kept from him for almost 2 years. She does just that and as they learn how to deal with things, they both fall all over again! Very quick read and great story by Ms. Shane! I read an ARC and am voluntarily leaving my review.
Fantastic holiday story with just the right amount of sass and attitude!
Being a single mom is tough enough. Making it all work out takes planning, determination, and usually help from family and friends. Rachel Persopoulus has those things down to an art form, which makes her job as an event planner fall right into place. Until she gets assigned to an event being hosted by her child’s father, the man who doesn’t know he has a child. Finding out he was married sent her running away before she knew she was pregnant. After that revelation, she didn’t want the same problems with men that she’d seen with her mother and grandmother and decided she was better off without him. She might not have a choice now about telling him but does she have to have him in their lives? Time will tell!
I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an unbiased and honest review. No compensation was promised or received for this review.
A baseball player, a secret baby and a second chance romance, all rolled into one…could it be anything less than a 5 star read?!
Button up and schedule-oriented Rachel did one crazy thing in her life, and ended up with a baby…and the daddy didn’t know it. Fast forward a couple years, Cam, the baby daddy, not only find out about his daughter but is all-in from the start! In fact, it was easier to fall in love with him that it was for this reader to like her!
Lizzie Shane took two totally opposite people, threw in an adorable baby, a huge extended family and the magic of Christmas…and produced July 4th fireworks! From the dialogue to the setting, this Christmas romance is sure to be a favorite for many a romance lover! Don’t worry about reading the first two books..this is a stand-alone. But go back and grab them, and any other Shane book you can find. She’s a must read author for me!
An Unplanned Christmas is an adorable romance with both the second chance trope and the secret baby trope working for it. The characters are incredible (yea, sexy baseball player!). Not only is Cam sexy, but he ends up being an incredible man who is made pretty mushy with love for both Rachel and their daughter. Rachel is very controlling in the single mom kind of way. Cam is determined to get her to loosen up and he does it in a gradual way so as not to antagonize her too much. It’s really cute! It’s super hard for Rachel to give up being in charge all the time. Can she do it in order to have another chance with Cam?
I found this story to be very entertaining and enjoyable. I could sit and read about Cam all day long. Yes, he has his stupid man moments, but they all do. I loved him anyway!
I really enjoyed reading this book!
