Great characters and setting, and an intriguing mystery with a twist in the tail.
Kept me involved right through, excellent series I have purchase sequels
A good plot, I love British mysteries, They are more thought provoking and lrss violent than American mysteries..
Just didn’t capture my attention so I couldn’t put it down.
Good book with a lot of twists but I did suspect the actual guilty person.
good how dun it
Easy to read but predictable
Liked it
Very enjoyable English mystery. No offensive language or sex, which is a plus for me. Fairly good plot, satisfying ending. I like both the main characters. Could have been 4 stars except even though I enjoyed it, nothing really popped out to make it exceptional.
Not very interesting story or characters. Gave up after about fourth of the way through.
As I liked this book, decided to try book #2!
Great story and characters.
Good cozy mystery.
I enjoyed it.
An English mystery with unfamiliar terms but a good story.
What I liked the most were the language, the characters, and the banter between DI Brock and DS Poole. Worth looking at sequels.
I found this book a perfect COVID-19 era way to relax at the end of the day. Whether among the “good guys” or the “bad guys”, all the characters were memorable as well as believable. Sure good guys Brock and Poole have some personal problems. Who doesn’t? But they handle it in their own ways and don’t drag down the plot with a lot of personal angst and melodrama. This raises my hopes that subsequent books in the series won’t deteriorate into soap operas with a few bodies tossed in to market them as mysteries. They already are far too many such books out there.
The plot was creative with many twists and turns, and surprises right up to the end. Even when I thought I knew who dun it, I couldn’t figure out why. But I never felt sure until the author pulled all the threads together at the end in an intelligent and satisfying way. I couldn’t ask for more at a time when intelligent and satisfying endings sometimes seem so elusive in the real world.
quit 1/4 in. Just couldn’t get into it.
Great story and a wonderful partnership between the two major characters.
I was sorry when the book was over, can’t wait to read the next one.
enjoyable read, the strory flowed without any of the characters doing heroic deeds . was well worth my time in reading it
