In the 12th novel in the New York Times bestselling Longmire series, the basis for the hit Netflix orginal series Longmire, Walt, Henry, and Vic discover much more than they bargained for when they are called in to investigate a hit-and-run accident involving a young motorcyclist near Devils Tower
In the midst of the largest motorcycle rally in the world, a young biker is run off the road and … road and ends up in critical condition. When Sheriff Walt Longmire and his good friend Henry Standing Bear are called to Hulett, Wyoming—the nearest town to America’s first national monument, Devils Tower—to investigate, things start getting complicated. As competing biker gangs; the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms; a military-grade vehicle donated to the tiny local police force by a
wealthy entrepreneur; and Lola, the real-life femme fatale and namesake for Henry’s ‘59 Thunderbird (and, by extension, Walt’s granddaughter) come into play, it rapidly becomes clear that there is more to get to the bottom of at this year’s Sturgis Motorcycle Rally than a bike accident. After all, in the words of Arthur Conan Doyle, whose Adventures of Sherlock Holmes the Bear won’t stop quoting, “There is nothing more deceptive than an obvious fact.”

Craig Johnson’s Walt Longmire series rocks! I love the humor.
Craig Johnson is like Robert Parker and James Lee Burke. Great ear for dialogue and the back and forth of conversation.
not as good as usual Longmire book, too preachy
I like Longmire.
Anything by Craig Johnson is a wonderful read, in my opinion.
Like all the books in the Longmire series it’s a great read. Always great detective story but the unique character – that you actually care about – make it even better.
Loved it. Can’t wait to read the next one on my list. Wonderful characters and Walt Longmire is my kinda guy.
This is just flat out a great series.
The TV series “Longmire” was based on these books. Good series. But it pales beside the books. They are just plain great. HIGHLY recommended.
Not the best in this series but still better than average and keeps me waiting for the next one.
Walt Longmire series are all winners.
My favorite of a fantastic series.
It’s a Longmire story. Need I say more.
Craig Johnson’s books are modern day mysteries set in northeastern Wyoming. His main character, Walt Longmire, is the sheriff of a county in Wyoming which borders a Cheyenne Reservation. Walt’s oldest and best friend is a member of that tribe. His characters are quirky and well-drawn. I like the history and the descriptions of the area and its residents. The cases Walt and company are called on to solve are complex and they have lots of twists and turns.
By this point in the series the author pretty well shaped the characters and refined the writing to an enjoyable read with a balance of suspense and intrigue. For fans of the Longmire series and/or the TV episodes–a good read.
I love these books as withe the Tv shows except the books will keep you laughing.
I love the whole Longmire series. If you get a chance to meet the author you about go. Funny and witty. Had great stories.
Love Longmeier stories, not that interested in motorcycles…and this was definitely a motorcycle based story.
We found Longmire on Netflix first, so I generally know the stories when I read one of the books. But the writing is so fluid, and so charming that I enjoy reading every one.
What can I say – it’s a Longmire novel!
