An Invisible Thread tells of the life-long friendship between a busy sales executive and a disadvantaged young boy, and how both of their lives were changed by what began as one small gesture of kindness.
When Laura Schroff brushed by a young panhandler on a New York City corner one rainy afternoon, something made her stop and turn back. She took the boy to lunch at the McDonald’s across the … lunch at the McDonald’s across the street that day. And she continued to go back, again and again for the next four years until both their lives had changed dramatically. Nearly thirty years later, that young boy, Maurice, is married and has his own family. Now he works to change the lives of disadvantaged kids, just like the boy he used to be.
An Invisible Thread is the true story of the bond between a harried sales executive and an eleven-year-old boy who seemed destined for a life of poverty. It is the heartwarming story of a friendship that has spanned three decades and brought meaning to an over-scheduled professional and hope to a hungry and desperate boy living on the streets.

I read a review of this book, and you know how some books just sort of drag you in, well, this book did. In fact, I read an excerpt of the book before I purchased it, which I usually do on other books I buy, and if the book passes my “High Standards” (which means I can justify spending the money on the book because it seems to be a decent book …
An amazing true story of faith, hope and Love.
I loved this book.
I simply could not put it down.
I was half way through the book,
When I had to leave.
But I refused to leave without this book.
Besides I got a discount
You can’t pass that up
I’ve read this more than ten times and will never get bored of it. It is a very inspirational story
This book was a wonderful story of a unique relationship that had no real reason to develop. Except for an “invisible thread” that continued to pull them together.
I fell in love with the people in this book, and found myself relating to Annette. It’s a testimony that tells the truth about life, love and what is most important.
It was, at times, …
I was drawn to this story about an unlikely friendship between two very different people, because I’ve had a few similar relationships, myself. The story itself is heart-warming, but I especially liked the down-to-earth way it was told–without sentimentality or sensationalism. The truth is that ordinary people can have extraordinary friendships …
I loved it, I got the book then read it twice before I could put it down. If you’re looking for a inspirational book with meaning this is definitely the book for you.
Excellent true story well presented.
Loved this poignant book from beginning to end. Thought provoking and inspiring.
I found this book highly inspirational and something sorely needed in today’s world; a motivation to do the right thing and always see the best in people.
GREAT HEARTFELT STORY
It is a very inspirational book and it shows how kindness goes a long way.
Page turner! Couldn’t put it down. This was our book club selection and everyone finished it in record time and all liked it!!
I think this true story is wonderful because it is true. But I have to admit that I didn’t love the book. Laura did a wonderful thing and I can’t say enough how amazing she is. I think it would be nice to hear this story in person.
Very unusual concept but I enjoyed this book.
I read this book in a single day (I have kids and a husband, but I couldn’t put the book down. I didn’t even look up to see if they managed to make meals).
Love a good true story.
A great true story about how a simple gesture can change a life.
Amazing.
