NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • “Good unclean fun . . . [a] convoluted, scandal-greased, exposed-backsides-of-the-rich-and-famous story . . . told in a confiding, breathless undertone.”—Entertainment WeeklyJules Mendelson is wealthy. Astronomically so. He and his wife lead the kind of charity-giving, art-filled, high-society life for which each has been carefully groomed. Until Jules falls in love … groomed. Until Jules falls in love with Flo March, a beautiful actress/waitress. What Flo discovers about the superrich is not a pretty sight. And in the end, she wants no more than what she was promised. But when Flo begins to share the true story of her life among the Mendelsons, not everyone is in a listening mood. And some cold shoulders have very sharp edges. . . .

One of Dunne’s best. He has a great way of fictionalization true crime.
great entertainment
Scandals, gossip, and drama in the high society in the LA of the early 90s at its finest. This novel has all the elements that put a book into my personal hall of fame of favourite reads: humour, sarcasm, chic, crime, love, and drama. The writing is as sophisticated as its characters—a cast that includes the almighty wealthy couple facing …
Best book I’ve read in a while. I felt as though I got into each and every character’s mind and could feel what they felt. One minute I liked a certain character but in the next, I was shocked at how their mind worked and what they did. It was interesting to see how different segments of our society live. A real page-turner.
A good read
This was a re-read for me. I had first read “An Inconvenient Woman” when it first came out.
Because I read all of Dominick Dunne’s books at that time—and thoroughly enjoyed them—I will probable re-read them all!
Like a 1940’s movie
I would love anything else by this author!,
I must say this of Dominic Dunne and his every writing: the gossip is delicious! It’s a frozen strawberry dacquiri on a hot summer afternoon – an enormous watermelon warm from the giving earth, with sweetness running down your face, soaking your shirt. You want to savor every drop and read his every word, for he is there. He is lives in the …
I thought this book had an interesting plot with a lot of twists and turns, and I liked the author’s writing style.
Exciting and based on a true event. One of those “I don’t want to put it down” books.
put this book on my favorites list. awesome story
Dinner is always good and this is no exception.
Sad commentary on the rich. Money truly can be the root of all evil.
Dunne presented a convincing account of an “inconvenient woman”. Jules is beyond wealth and leads the life of the elite. When he meets and falls in love with Flo March, a waitress/aspiring actress, his life begins to come apart at the seams. I felt compassion for Flo and revulsion for Jules and his wife. The ending is not pretty. It is not tied …
