Lusting after one’s employer is certainly not the done thing when you are a governess. But Miss Abigail Adams cannot seem to help herself…Abigail Adams, the resident governess of Hartfield Hall, might appear to be a very proper young woman, yet she secretly yearns for excitement to brighten her mundane life. And what she does want, she really shouldn’t long for—Sir Nicholas Barsby, the … Nicholas Barsby, the indecently handsome, charismatic master of Hartfield.
Sir Nicholas Barsby returns home from a tour of the Continent to discover his widowed sister-in-law has employed a decidedly delectable governess for his nieces. When it becomes blatantly apparent that the attraction is mutual, Nicholas ruthlessly decides to present Miss Adams with a thoroughly wicked proposal.
Abigail is initially shocked by Sir Nicholas’s outrageous and highly improper offer to become his mistress. Having wanton thoughts about a man is undoubtedly sinful but leading the life of a fallen woman is something else entirely. Nevertheless, falling into Sir Nicholas’s arms might just prove to be an invitation too tempting for Abigail to ignore. One thing is clear, whether she’s a governess or mistress, she must not lose her heart…

Delicious, romantic, heartwarming, and all-around wonderful. I can’t recommend this book highly enough!
This was a steamy quick read. I like the budding romance between the couple. I really liked how the character Abigail was portrayed as one who would not be cowed. The romance was a slow burn for me, but once Abigail and Nicholas came to an agreement on their affair the story picked up. The plot was great and the drama was even better.
Abigail was the governess for 2 lovely girls. When she met Nicholas her boss her life will change. Only after a short time back at the Hall Nicholas started making changes. His sweet Abigail will be his.
More prose and less sex description
A bit too graphic.
This story is sex, sex, sex all the way through from the very beginning to the very end. Certainly not for the more prudish reader. Abigail is a nymphomaniac and Sir Nicholas has too much testosterone making him a hot blooded overly male. It has a good story line if you can get past all the sex.
Sweet story with a likeable protagonist
A very steamy and hot 3 1/2 – 4 star read!
An Improper Governess is a quick reading, engaging novella with likable main characters, though I wish there had been a little more substance to them. Abigail had been hired as a governess to the nieces of Sir Nicholas. They meet for the first time when he returns from an extended tour of the continent. Nicholas is immediately attracted to Abigail and shortly thereafter decides that he wants to make her his mistress. Abigail is reluctant at first but then consents to his proposition. What follows is a very steamy and hot but growing romance between the two. Yes, there is quite a bit of explicit sex, but tempering that is the sweet romance between them. Due to some misassumptions, Abigail decides to leave, but Sir Nicholas knows he will not give her up and vows to find and marry her. Thereby, they find their HEA.
This was pretty good, but a little racy.
Not your run of the mill Regency romance. An Improper Governess has more than a few twists and turns to keep you riveted from page one to the end and then be sorry it didn’t go on a bit more. This story has everything from humor to drama all wrapped up in neat romantic package. Surely a prize winner.
Adult language and sex. unrealistic and very simplistic story. Did not enjoy.
Fairly predictable and a little trashy.
it is very Steamy but very good
very god
Great great story. A real page turner. I loved it.
Love Amy Rose Bennett. Will read everything she writes – she has a wonderful way creating prose.
Sweet & strong female lead willing to take what she wants. A sexy rogue willing to take, take, and give. Only complaint – it’s too short.
Loved the female character, very strong. Great read.
This book was certainly steamy! I somehow missed the fact that it was an EROTIC Regency book. Was I surprised! lol
I do recall this book. The heroine was down on her luck and decided to try and be a governess. However, the hero found that he didn’t want her to continue in that position so he asked her to become his mistress. Not what a person who reads 1800’s romance books was expecting. However it came to a better result at the end.
The characters acted like two horny high school kids who couldn’t control themselves. I didn’t enjoy the swallowing scenes. I think the author went too far for the kind of story it was. Should have been dubbed erotica
