I couldn’t put this book down! Literally finished it in 24 hours. A hot and steamy read and with a navy seal too??? Can you say: gimme, gimme!
Love this series. Navy seal to the rescue.
Highly recommend this series.
I had such high hopes when I requested this book from NetGalley. A great romantic suspense with Navy SEALs? My catnip. Unfortunately I was disappointed in the execution, silly names, and frankly, the sex scenes.
The pros: Just as I was about to give up on this novel, the adventure and mystery aspects got better. Flipper saving the day was fun and sounded sexy. I got a satisfying HEA, unfortunately I was only satisfied because the book was over at last.
The cons: I hate to give a scathing review but this book just didn’t do it for me and it started with the sex. Now don’t get me wrong, I enjoy gratuitous sex scenes, graphic sex scenes, sweet sex scenes, believe me I’ve read it all. What I don’t enjoy, is comical sex scenes (in a bad way). I don’t really even know how to explain how weird it is except to leave a few quotes:
“His mind and body were in sync and a rare sexual aura was overtaking him.”
“He knew she was coming again and, dammnit to hell, so was he. Marveling at such a thing, he tightened his hold on her.” Yup, the hero just came twice in 5 seconds. I’m pretty darn positive that’s not possible.
More cons: Swan (yes that’s her real name) has three godfathers that are only distinguished by a number (Godpop 1, Godpop 2, Godpop 3) which makes everything confusing because they are all characters in the book. It made their characterization hazy at best. I need actual names please. This is a very short novel. Less than 300 pages, and we were reminded of two things, Flipper (yes, he has dolphins tattooed all over him) is a SEAL and Swan is drop-dead gorgeous. The constant talk about Swan’s beauty made it seem like she had very little depth. I have many other critiques but I will leave it
Overall, this author was new to me and maybe her writing style just isn’t for me. If you can suspend your disbelief for a while and let yourself get lost in a truly fantasy/unrealistic love story, then by all means pick this one up. If you’re looking for any correlation to real-life romance, or even relatable romance, this one is a skip.
**I received an ARC of this book in order to provide an honest review**
Awesome characters and suspenseful storyline!
The only thing I liked about this story the hot & steamy scenes. Everything else in this story fell flat for me.
Toss Up-
I thought it would be a great action adventure/romantic love story. But it wasn’t. It was slow and the sex scenes were weird and there was still no action at 40% of the book. Hope others have better luck.
*******5 Rip-Roaring Flipper and Swan Stars*****
This has been on my TBR too long. I loved it! What an awesome read! This is related to the Westmoreland series and I really, really, really need to read about them. Lol. In this particular story we have Swan Jamison and David Holloway and Holloway is a SEAL tasked in proving Swan’s innocence. The story flowed beautifully and the sex scenes were incredibly hot! I loved how the two of them fell in love and understood that Holloway had to keep, what he was doing a secret. Though Swan was upset with him, she later understood why. David never gave up on them and when it came to talk he was completely honest with her about everything and his feelings for her(swoon).
Just a great story, there is nothing that I did not like about it. It was just perfect!

I won a copy of this book from Goodreads. I was not required to give a favorable review. This was a wonderful story on how the closeness of SEAL team members pass on to the family members of lost members and current team members. Flipper is going on leave like the rest of team when he is called into his CO office, he is being as a favor to check on his CO’s godchild who is being looked into selling secrets. Her father was a fellow team member who died and he and his two other buddies are her Godfathers. She has no other family since her mom passed and her father’s family disowned him when he married her mom. Now David has been asked to find out what is going on. Little did he know that he was going to meet the love of his life in Swan. First he has to clear her.
Brenda Jackson does not disappoint! The characters are believable and the setting was real. Thanks Brenda!
A riveting, spellbinding, seductive story with a touch of suspense, and an abundance of romance.
I have said it before, and I do not mind saying it again, Brenda Jackson is a masterful storyteller who seducers the mind while twining the tale of intriguing, lovable characters who are finding their soulmates, finding their destinies, and willing to fight for the love growing in their hearts, minds, and souls. I absolutely love her stories and the mix of the sensual, the sweet, and the dash danger.
David Holloway, well, he is as honorable as they come, a SEAL in a family of SEALs. His brothers, his father, they all are part of the elite group of military, and they serve with pride and with love for their country. On a mission from his commanders David, aka Flipper, meets Swan Jamison, and the attraction is immediate, sizzling hot, smoldering even, and the last thing the mission needs.
Swan Jamison is not looking for a man, especially not interested in a military man or interracial dating. She is a beautiful, smart, talented lady. The jewelry she makes, the way it was described, made me want to travel to the Keys and find if there is a real-life ‘Swan’ out there… Swan has been used before, she has been betrayed, and rejected by her father’s family. She does not about give her heart lightly, but there is something in David that makes her trust him, something that makes her open her heart to him without reservations.
I love how Swan owned who she is, stood for what she believed for, and had an open heart to see the big picture in the case of espionage David was investigating. I respected her hesitance with David because of how her own relatives had acted, and I appreciate that the author brought up the interracial dating, and the problems, from her point of view.
There is so much story, emotion, and passion fit into the category length novel, that it all took my breath away while reading it. Just a perfectly and delightfully steamy, adorably sweet, absorbing and alluring tale to escape with. Loved it!
