I love all Cynthia Ruchti books and don’t know how I missed this one! She is a word-smith, and not one word is wasted in this story! It starts with a girl turing down her soon- to-not-be fiance in front of the whole family, but it has a happy ending! I promise!
What a winsome story of healing and redemption through a clan living out their faith during Christmas week. There are a lot of relatives to keep track of, but keep your eyes on Katie and Micah as Katie works through her messy genealogy. A highlight is a Christmas play written and carried out by young granddaughters of the patriarch, who has his own crisis during the week. Just delightful.
A warm story of four generations of a loving family spending Christmas together. Micah is a patient, caring man. Katie feels she doesn’t have a chance at a happy marriage since no one in her ancestry has had a successful relationship. You will love the story of the Binder family.

“She said no?”
After embarassing herself and the man whose heart she holds dear with a public “no” to his marriage proposal, in front of his entire family no less, Katie Vale wonders if she needs to end this Christmas vacation before it has a chance to begin. Micah’s noisy, comedic, loving, hugging family is so opposite to her own experience that she is shocked when they take her answer in stride and act as if it’s only a temporary blip on the “made for each other” radar. How can she possibly explain?
If you are searching for a witty, authentic, inspiring family Christmas story, look no futher than “An Endless Christmas” with the Binder family, for no one leaves the cottage in Wisconsin without being thankful for every minute spent in the company of those they love; “in it for the long haul. No matter what.” Endless. All because of a baby in the manger.
An Endless Christmas is a heart warming novella. Ruchti reminds us of the hope we have in Jesus. It will cause your heart to hope again. I read this novella in one sitting.
Recommend to readers who enjoy inspirational, Christmas novellas.
I borrowed a copy from my local library. All views expressed are my honest opinion.
Katie Vale goes with her boyfriend of ten months to his grandparents’ cottage in the Northwoods of Minnesota. It is her first time to meet Micah’s parents and extended family. The first night they are there, Micah proposes. Though Katie loves him, she has some relational issues to resolve stemming from her dysfunctional family, so she says “no.” Despite that, the Binder family embraces Katie into their fold. During their stay, Katie is exposed to a family who loves, shows grace, and lives their faith. This is an excellent book for Christmas reading, or really for any time of year. I highly recommend it.

Christmas books are not my thing. So when I got Cynthia Ruchti’s newest novella, An Endless Christmas (Worthy Publishing), I was a bit confused as to why I had agreed to be part of this blog tour. As the stories’ Binder family let’s go of Christmas traditions each year to just live and enjoy each moment, I’m glad I let go of mine of not reading Christmas stories.
Only grandchild of a large family, Micah Binder, invites his girlfriend to his family’s week long Christmas festivities in northern Minnesota. As if staying with your boyfriend’s family for a holiday week, in a tiny technology free cottage in freezing cold Minnesota for the first time wasn’t stressful enough, Katie gets proposed to immediately upon walking in the door. She tells Micah NO, in front of his entire family. The novella follows Micah and Katie’s journey as she toughs out Christmas week and becomes acquainted with his family. Seemingly perfect, the story just brushes over the little facts pointing out the Binders’ flaws but never really telling you what they are. The story runs similar to this, a little rough around the edges, lacking in some basic plot building, but magical when all is said and done. It is cheesy in all the right ways. As I was reading I was picturing a made for TV Christmas movie and wanting a family holiday of my own like that I was reading. So much seems to go wrong throughout the week, but the way the family bands together and accepts one another’s differences (and they are wide) is beautiful. I found myself thinking about their story long after I closed the book. If there were a follow up novel or novella I would definitely read it. I guarantee you, you will find part of yourself somewhere in these pages, and I hope when all is said and done…you yourself will celebrate an endless Christmas.
And shout out to the author who lives in a pretty cool state! 😉
An Endless Christmas will be released TOMORROW October 13, 2015. I strongly encourage you to grab yourself a copy of this quick read!
What is your favorite Christmas tradition? I’ve always loved putting out the nativity set!
