Lord Ancrum has not behaved well in the past and is trying to do damage control to his reputation. A notorious wealthy widow, Lady Starling, asks for his help, and he agreed to do so despite his feelings for the quiet wallflower, Miss Lydia Whitaker. Afraid of becoming a spinster, Lydia is determined to become more visible. However, she is unprepared for the world she about to enter, where nothing is as it seems.
This book is a sweet historical romance set in the Regency era. It is part of the Brides of London series. This is a very fun and enjoyable book. The characters are well developed and complex, complete with strengths and weakness. The narrative is great, helping to develop the characters and giving details into the time period in which the story takes place. The storyline flows smoothly and the author expertly weaves together mystery, emotional drama and romance into a tale that captures your interest until the end. I liked the characters and how they grew and changed as they came to terms with their negative pasts, fears, and internal struggles while trying to find a solution to the untenable situation placed upon them. If like me, you love a historical romance with mystery, and is clean and wholesome, then you will. be sure to enjoy this wonderful book.

For the adolescent or adult reader the story changes. The story is slow with a twist. Super clean there is almost only a kiss.
A romantic who done it. very sweet. Extremely entertaining and enjoyable. Really well told. The ending was reminiscent of Sherlock Holmes. Delightful.
This was my first book by this author, and I really enjoyed it. Lydia is a wallflower whose parents could care less about her. She decides to make her last season different by coming out of her shell and engaging people in conversation. Lord Acrum is in need of cleaning up his reputation, with which she decides to help him. Fate has other plans for these two and situations arise that play havoc with their situation. It was fun to see it all played out. This book was a nice read with some light mystery in it. I have already downloaded another book from this author.
Regency Romance
I like Lydia and in many ways I understand her desire to hold to the background in life.
I appreciate that Joyce Alec writes “sweet” Regency novels, that is to say, one’s that do not have explicit content while still maintaining the romance and emotions that draw the reader in.

Just OK. This book is well written and it is historically ok, though the pacing often lags and the plot seems to be too simple for a full novel. Mostly, I could not identify with the characters. They both are intent on fitting into society despite some minor obstacles. in short, I found both H and h are boring.
I like a happy ever after kind of book and this has that . Its a easy read don’t have to think kind of book . Although the male character seems to take a long time to figure out the twisted ideas of one of the ladies
in this book .
Realistic characters
poorly written, characters constantly made idiotic choices
clean
Well written. Nice characters who are well described. Would have liked more depth at times.
Engaging, enjoyable and recommendable read.
Lord Joseph Ancrum made a fool of himself the previous Season due to a drunken wager and wants to repair his reputation and find a wife.
Lady Lydia Whitaker is a wallflower who prefers keeping in the shadows away from her mother. This is her third Season and her mother doesn’t help her. Lydia decides to make this Season different, to speak to the other ladies and to the gentlemen, and even dance. She gives herself a makeover and is transformed!
When Lord Ancrum and Lady Lydia meet, she accepts his offer to dance. Two days later, Lord Ancrum accidentally knocked Lydia over in the street, not stopping to help as he had an emergency. Will there be another scandal, so soon?
The following evening, Lydia and Joseph meet at a dinner party and they realized he was the one who knocked her over. He apologized and she asked him to help her in society and show her some attention in public.
She later overheard him defend her strongly to her father, and told him he didn’t need to help her anymore, but he found he truly wanted to help.
At a ball, Joseph told her to stay away from Lord Paulson. She asked for his help, but then didn’t want to be told what to do? That doesn’t make sense. Anyway, Joseph found Lord Paulson dead on the floor, and from a misunderstanding, Lydia was found alone with him. He lied and said he had just proposed to her, but it wasn’t the truth.
There’s a lot of mystery, scandal, and lies to get past. Will they end up together?

This is sweet, romantic and heartwarming. Joseph is chivalrous, loyal and a bit naive. Lydia was quiet, timid and caring until she finally realized that unless she took her future into her own hands, she would remain an unmarried slave to her parents forever. One night she took the initiative to meet new people at the ball she was attending, which eventually led to her introduction to Joseph, the Earl of Ancrum. After getting to know each other a little, they agreed to help each other resolve their issues, his redemption from the faux pas he committed during the previous season so that he can then find himself a bride, and her need to be introduced to acceptable men so that she might find a husband. The more time they spend together though, the more they admire and care about the other. So when Joseph is asked by a lady of a certain reputation to help her with the man who is blackmailing her, he hides it from Lydia, knowing that it won’t help his reputation, and therefore hurt hers. Helping the lady turns out to be the best and worst thing he ever did. They have a sweet rapport with each other, and both are likable and sympathetic characters that I enjoyed reading about.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.
Another great book by Joyce Alec. Lydia’s parents are uninterested in her as she must deal with romance, murder and of course bad parenting. Joseph, Earl of Ancrum befriends Lydia and together they embark on an adventure you don’t want to miss.

I enjoyed this new regency romance from Joyce Alec. It’s a fairly quick read that is well written and captivating. This is a very interesting story about bad decision by gentlemen have lead him to have a rakish reputation and a wallflower, almost spinster, with terrible parents. Both trying to find redemption and romance. I like Lydia and Joseph’s story! It’s a good read that I could not put down. They do have to overcome some hurdles, scandal, deceit, deception and more before they get their happy ending.
Miss Lydia Whitaker has no help from the “home front”. Her mother is a selfish, controlling woman who simply wants Lydia to remain a spinster, stuck with waiting on her parents until their deaths. Her father, Lord Templeton, behaves in a cruel manner and simply ignores his daughter.
Determined to leave behind this loveless existence, Lydia sets out to transform herself into a woman who can win the admiration of a gentleman who will provide a life containing some measure of love and happiness.
Joseph, Earl of Ancrum, is determined to recover his reputation that was damaged in last year’s season. But can he avoid the snare set by Lady Starling, a young widow who has a terrible reputation?
Can these two people thread their way through the strange customs of the British ton and find their way to happiness?
This book is another hit from the “pen of Joyce Alec.”
Good storyline, however, it is so similar to another book. The ending was the same except the names were changed.
An Earl’s Redemption is an enjoyable Regency romance from Joyce Alec. Lydia Whitaker has the most appalling parents ever! She decides she will no longer be a wallflower. Lord Ancrum needs to repair the damage he did to his reputation the previous season. These two meet and decide they will help each other. This story also has a manipulative young widow, a blackmailer, murder, and the usual gossip and betting of any season. There is a lot to keep the reader interested in this book.
An Earl’s Redemption by Joyce Alec is a great read. interesting, sweet and easy to read, well written, great characters with great chemistry, another great book by the author, well done!

An Earl’s Redemption and a Lady’s Salvation
This is the story Joseph, Earl of Ancrum and Miss Lydia Whitaker. She is the daughter of Lord and Lady Templeton two or the most self absorbed and useless parents I’ve read about in a long time. The Earl is trying to restore his reputation which he had tarnished last season through a drunken wager. Miss Lydia is seeking a better future for herself since her parents never seen fit to give her a proper season and introduce her to society. And then we have Lady Starling a viperish hussy manipulating Joseph for her own gain. There is also Lord Paulson a sort of ton puppet master. Those to me are the standout characters. There are also Lord and Lady Irwin who appear at the beginning of the story and then disappear. I thought their characters had more potential. Lord Irwin being Joseph’s friend and Lady Irwin befriending Lydia. That’s as far as I will go for tear of spoilers. I wish it had been longer. Joyce Alec is a wonderful story teller and An Earl’s Redemption is worthy read.
