Lady Martha and Lord Weston set out to deceive London society, but when the plan goes awry, they must turn to each other. Lady Martha has had to live in the shadows of her older sister, Lady Edith, her entire life. However, that has never stopped Martha from wanting what is best for Edith. When Edith is determined to wed Lord Hobart, Martha is distraught. Something is not right about that man, … about that man, and Martha believes he is hiding something sinister.
Lord Weston has been dreaming of courting Edith, and when he returns to London after an extended stay at his father’s estate, he is finally ready to ask Edith to marry him. However, he learns that he has competition: Lord Hobart.
Martha and Lord Weston both want to stop the potential betrothal between Lady Edith and Lord Hobart, so they agree to a plan they believe will solve the problem. However, when they start developing feelings for each other, it might be too late.

Each of these four stories contain elements of love, mystery, and HEA. Whether it’s a young woman losing her place in society, a man who must marry a wealthy woman to save his family heritage or a young woman trying to discover who her real family is, there is something to love in each of these sweet clean books. Highly recommend!

This book showed me that time and circumstances changes everything. Feelings and emotions evolve and no one will stop if they want it bad enough.

It has a perfect pace, edge of your seat non stop squirming. This a gripping story that had me hooked certainly turning pages.
Another sweet and well written historical romance. True to the time periode. Likeable characters that has to change their minds and take a chance to get their HEA. To find love when not expected.
A mix of a lot of emotions and twists. Enjoyable read.
Sweet story, clean writing, great characters, and I loved the suspense! A tale of two sisters- the beautiful, but finicky, selfish and prideful Edith, and the quiet, loyal, down to earth, dutiful Martha. They were less than a year apart, but their father did not treat them the same. He spoiled Edith and relied on Martha. In her first season (which should have been Martha’s as well, but she had to tend to her mother), Edith fell in love with Lord Weston and swears she’ll be true to him… And then she fell in love with Lord Hobart while he’s away. Weston returns and tries to win back Edith with Martha’s help by pretending to court Martha. Instead, Martha falls in love with Lord Weston. Will the better and kinder sister win by his heart, or will he fail to see what’s on the inside? I just wish it was a bit longer to be able to do a bit more with the characters.

Joyce Alec has delivered another wonderful book. This one is about two sisters, one who is beautiful but selfish, Edith, and the other who is kind hearted and has a beauty within, Martha. There are also two men involved, one with a hidden past and one who does not know his own heart.
I thoroughly enjoyed the story and wanted only happiness for Martha. She is more beautiful and stronger than she thinks.
This is well written and had me quickly turning the pages in hopes of a happily ever after for at least two of the characters.

This is another court the sister to get the diamond with the sister’s permission. Of course, he sees that the sister has substance and his original object just wants the attention. This plot is the overlaying plot of the sister’s suitor, Lord Hobart, who is the real mystery. I loved this story, because I feel the gentleman has his eyes opened to what real and true love really is.
I enjoyed reading Lady Martha and Lord Weston’s story a well-written book that kept my interest throughout. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was a sweet story of heartbreak and betrayal. Lord Weston went home to take care of his sick father and manage the business. He had asked Lady Edith to wait for him. After over a year he returned to London and Lady Edith and saw her walking with Lord Hobart. Will he be able to make her fall in love again? He asked Lady Martha, her younger sister, to help him make her jealous. Will it work? I loved this clean ,well written story of love and romance.I highly recommend reading this book. I was given a copy of this book and this is my honest review.

This book is impossibly good. It is a heartwarming tale of love and romance. It is definitely a keeper. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book in exchange for a free copy.
This was a sweet short romance about a young lady that goes out of her way to make people comfortable. Lady Martha was a down to earth young lady that typically fades into the background while her sister gets the limelight. I really enjoyed Lady Martha’s heart and compassion. The deception of Lord Weston and Lady Martha in their relationship was great. I liked how the characters interacted with one another. I felt their pain as they each hurt another person without meaning to. Without giving anything away, Lady Martha certainly blossomed in the story. I was standing in the background doing a fist pump for her. The story is short which did not allow for much development of the characters. This book was more of a happy-for-now kind of book. Overall, a good story to pass the time if you enjoy sweet, clean romance that cheers on the “ugly duckling.”

A lovely, family-friendly Regency romance with well-developed lead characters who struggle with what, exactly, is the correct thing to do.

The wonderfully written storyline hooked me right from the very first page and the characters were so well developed that I felt like I was peeking through a window watching as the story effortlessly unfolded between the characters!
The Earl of Winchester had already spoken to Martha about making certain that Edith remained within the bounds of propriety while they were in London, which is why Martha was alarmed at Edith’s writing a letter to Lord Hobart that she would be in the park tomorrow afternoon. Since she was supposedly “in love” with another man, Lord Weston, and swore to remain true until he returned, Martha saw this letter as a potential indiscretion.
Edmund, Earl Weston, heir apparent to the Marquess of Dunlop, was at last returning home to London. He had been running the estate as his ill father was recovering. He now looked forward to seeing Lady Edith again and continuing their relationship. His carriage turned into St James Park on the way to his townhouse. Then he sees a familiar face — Edith is walking in the park and conversing and smiling at Lord Hobart! He finally requests Martha’s help to earn Edith’s affections back by pretending to be courting Martha. But when do they realize they have stopped pretending?
I really enjoyed this well-written book. Martha’s selfish and arrogant sister had no consideration for Lord Weston and the promise she had made to him to wait. Martha and Lord Weston’s plan seemed like the right thing to do, to pretend that Lord Weston was courting Lady Martha in order to make Lady Edith jealous. Will the couple’s real feelings enter into the deception? Will they find out that maybe their “fake” feelings are not so fake after all? Grab your copy of this lovely book and see if justice is served and genuine goodness rewarded!
Edmund, Earl of Weston is infatuated with Lady Edith after briefly meeting her in London and corresponding with her by letter when he was away in the country caring for his ill father. He doesn’t realize that Edith is fickle, selfish, and self centered. Her sister Lady Martha has made sacrifices for her by taking care of their ill mother while Edith had a London season and standing in her shadow looking out for Edith rather than her own best interests. When Edmund asks Martha for a pretend courtship to make Edith jealous she jumps at it to have a small piece of the attentions of a gentleman. Edmund was blind to Edith’s faults and selfish in using Martha to make her jealous. Martha let her family walk all over her. Martha and Edmond becomes friends and she comes to truly care for him and want him for herself. Can she put aside the needs and wants of her sister to achieve her own happiness? Will Edmund come to appreciate Martha’s beauty within before it is too late? Nice clean Regency romance.
True love can hide! A great regency romance! Learning the difference between true love and a crush can be hard and confusing. Trying an end play can get you what you didn’t realize you wanted. A great read!

The story of two sisters. The oldest arrogant and a snob. She, and her father, thinking the younger sister should cater to her every whim.
I enjoyed this book. The story line was good. Even though you felt like you would like to strangle the sister for her being so mean mouthed to her sister.
Read it for yourself and I know you will enjoy it also.

I really enjoyed the interaction between Martha and Edmond, her sister was horrible. Dad was just oblivious to what was going on, Martha did more than I would have done. I only wish the Author had continued to see what the sister and dad’s reaction to the turn of events.

One of the main reasons I really enjoyed this book is the flow of the conversations between Lady Martha and Lord Weston. The writing has that edge to it that just makes the difference between ok books and ones that make you actually laugh out loud.
I have three sisters, so I also can relate to the love/unhappy relationship that can definitely occur between sisters. I am happy that Martha had enough and took action!
