“A hauntingly beautiful story of rescue and rehabilitation….[A] gorgeous tale of redemption.”—Susan Richards, New York Times bestselling author of Chosen by a Horse
“I could not put this book down.”—Stacey O’Brien, New York Times bestselling author of Wesley the Owl

For weeks he and the staff at Sarvey Wildlife Care Center tended to the grievously injured bird. Miraculously, she recovered, and Jeff, a center volunteer, became her devoted caretaker.
Though Freedom would never fly, she had Jeff as her wings. And after Jeff was diagnosed with stage 3 non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2000, Freedom returned his gift. Between sessions of debilitating chemotherapy, Jeff went back to Sarvey and began taking Freedom for walks that soothed his spirit and gave him the strength to fight.
A tender tale of hope, love, trust, and life, this moving true story is an affirmation of the spiritual connection that humans and animals share.

Great true story if an eagle and his “master”. Easy to read and very informative!
Loved it…..we have a ‘resident eagle’ at our home on the river……they really become a part of the family…..he comes at a whistle when we present him with fish.
We’ll written and informative with all the ‘First Nation’ background.
Eagles are remarkable animals.
I learned a lot about what it takes to help hurt animals return to the Wild. They have eons of knowledge and instincts that need to be preserved and used. No wild animal should ever be tamed . They need to return to their environment with all the necessary skills to survive snd thrive.
I loved this book. It transported me back to nature and those who appreciate it. I loved the struggles and the victories. Thanks so much for an enjoyable read.
I met the author in person along with Freedom, the eagle at a bookstore, a few years ago. What a majestic creature and such a heart warming story.
Absolutely loved this book and so grateful you shared your story with us. Thank you for being a Godsent to these beautiful animals and all wildlife.
I loved this book. The love and trust this man built with the eagle was phenomenal
People think animals have no feelings especially birds to their human caretaker, very moving
wanted more about the development of the eagle and that friendship, not about author’s cancer and philosophy
Fantastic. You will be moved.
LOVED it…wishing I had an Eagle of my own. I’ve always loved them and regret that I am not in an area where I could spot one now and then. The highs and lows in this biography made it a real opportunity to feel up close and personal with the love and care given to the Freedom. Can’t imagine a more precious friendship <3
A good read for those looking for something showing an emotional connection between humans and wild creatures.
It literally took my breath away and brought tears, too. Loved it!
I loved this book. True story especially for the times we are going through now. Learned about eagles. Was inspirational. Have been recommending already. I will probably get a hard copy to add to my permanent library.
this book was so inspirational for me. I volunteer at an animal shelter so I could relate to much of Jeff’s story. Freedom the eagle was a bonus as I learned more about him. Personal writing and informative as I learned so much and came to love all the animals. Highly recommend this book.
Wonderful heartwarming book.
I needed this book at this time and it hit the spot.
shows what a strong bond can form between man and creatures.
This is a beautiful story. I’ve gifted it to seven others so far. Thank you. I’m hoping I can make it to the salmon feeding area during next year’s festival.
