Because of Audrey Hepburn, I have foolishly… and swoon-worthy pecs, Thomas conceals an open wound. No matter how hot his kisses or how genuine his affection, he’s still reeling. He can’t move on.
And I can’t risk falling for him. I have a child to raise—a preteen boy who needs his mom to be all there.
But as autumn strips the trees of their leaves, falling for Thomas is exactly what I do. Throwing caution to the wind, I dare to hope for a future with him…
…until the past comes knocking.
Can we handle it or will it break us forever?

I’ve read a lot of books written by Alix Nichols; she has written another excellent book. She is one of my favorite authors.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book. I can’t wait to read more of her books.
I loved the chemistry between the characters.
This is a fun quick read. I loved how both Dana and Thomas had a love they had lost. They were both afraid of what could be, because they felt they were being unfaithful. I really enjoyed the story this book told. I will say I struggled a bit in the beginning. Being set in France the English, and some of the French words felt a little off to me. The more I read though, the easier it became.
An Autumn in Paris
by Alix Nichols
This is a sweet romance in Paris by Dana and Thomas. Thomas is a veterinarian that is new to town. His girlfriend is missing and he thinks she has been kidnapped. After over a year he meets Dana when she brings hers sons puppy to the clinic. This story has sexual scenes in it but the story was good. Dana has a twelve year old son who’s father died before he was born in a accident. I really enjoyed this story and recommend reading this book.
This is a very simple story of two people who lost the love of their lives in very different ways. This is easy to read and is very realistic. The characters are easy to identify with as they are not over the top. There is some drama throw in, but all in all, this is about a growing relationship that grows through many different phases. I really liked the heroine of the story Dana. She is a single mother of a pre-teen Liviu. Liviu’s father died before he was born and Dana has never met anyone that rivaled that romance. Till she met Thomas. Thomas is a veterinarian. Dana took their dog to the vet and that’s where she met Thomas. Thomas has his own story. He is under the impression that his fiancée was abducted against her will and is being held captive. It has been over a year and he still hold out hope that she is alive. These dynamics make it difficult for Dana and Thomas. They don’t want to betray their former loves, but they can’t control what is going on between them. This is a very interesting story with some twists and turns. I enjoyed reading it. I received an Advanced Readers Copy of this book via Hidden Gems and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Dana and Thomas are adorable together. Seeing them heal from the traumas of their past relationships was beautiful to witness. And made the stumbling blocks in their way all the more tragic. I found both Dana and Thomas to be selectively blind to the truth about themselves. (But then again, aren’t we all?) Dana could be strong for her son, a lioness protecting Liviu, but she was often reluctant to see or use that strength for her own benefit. Thomas’s marshmallow heart meant that he sometimes gave too much of himself to projects and people that he probably shouldn’t have committed to. This book is sweet and emotional. And a lovely return by the author to contemporary romance. I loved getting this chance to reconnect with the couples of La Bohème.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.
Another fun and steamy read set alongside our friends from La Boheme.
I just love catching up with Jeanne and the crew from my favourite virtual cafe in Paris, just like those old friends whom you haven’t seen for a while, but fit back into an easy and vibrant conversation with!
Daniela has such a tragic story in her past, and despite a couple of her choices in men, she is a strong and loving mother to her pre-teen son, Liviu and along with Baloo the dog, make up a gorgeous little family. She has great support in Manon, her best friend, and their scene in setting the ghosts of bad boyfriends past to rest is hilarious!! Picture Poopootov cocktails, and yes, they are a thing, because Google said so!!!
Dr Thomas Brousse is Baloo’s new vet, and in an embarrassing first visit, an incident involving the hapless small dog’s claw, Daniela puts more on display than she ever thought possible. While this hot and sexy man’s story isn’t as tragic, love has kicked him to the kerb just as hard, and there’s good reason that he hasn’t considered the possibility to move on, until now…
Told in a dual POV, the plot layout of the book was a little different, but I loved it. Broken into three parts, where we hear from Daniela first, Thomas next, then them both alternatively, I felt like there was more to this story than there has been with previous books in this setting. More rounded, and packed with descriptive writing, it almost like there was more detail in this picture that the author has painted for us.
I only have one issue with this book. I can’t fault the plot, the world building, the character development or the relationships between them. The humour and the steam heat are absolutely spot on as well. I love them. I just feel that early in the book, as the story builds, I’m reading a lot of detail and can visualise the scenes in my head as I’m reading. The heated chemistry between our characters was palpable, and then, in the last fifth of the book, the crux of the story happens, and all is resolved quite quickly, and tidied up in the epilogue. Nothing is missing, except that I’d like to see as much happening around these events as we see around Thomas and Daniela first meeting and getting to know each other. What should be anguishing for our characters was wrapped up quickly and very tidily. It was still a fabulous read, I just wanted, well, more.
Ahhhh, Manon. She is such a great friend and supporter to Daniela, and we heard quite a lot from her in this book. I’m hoping that this could be the set up to Alix Nichol’s next book, ‘cos she has some unresolved issues going on, and that issue has just stepped back into the wonderful setting of La Boheme. I can’t wait. 4 Stars.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review….
This was a fun, solid read by Alix Nicols. Daniela or Dana and Thomas were interesting, well written characters. I would have preferred an alternating POV through out the book, but the book is a quick, funny at times, surprising at times read. I liked the development of the H/h relationship, overall a good read.
I came to the end of this book and very reluctantly closed my Kindle cover. It is one of those stories that jerks at the heartstrings and tugs at one’s emotions. The author brings out the full ambiance of Paris in autumn, the pathos, the nostalgia and the uncertainty of romance. I loved the main characters with their humourous interaction and the slow build up from friendship to lovers. Dana’s heartache and sorrow stem from past experience, whilst Thomas’ loss is more recent. However, as they approach one another cautiously, they discover in each other not only a deep attraction but also a meeting of their souls. Typical of preteens, Liviu rounds the story off, bringing laugh-out-loud moments and some levity. The book is very well written, emotive and draws the reader’s interest from the opening pages, right through to the end. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
This is a wonderful read which will have you wanting there to be a happy ending. Being in Paris can be good for love and it may help her get over her broken heart
I received an advanced copy and I enjoyed it so much that I want to review
There are three different divided sections in this book. It beginnings with Part 1 Daniela who is often called Dana. Part 2 is the voice of Thomas; his point of view. There is also a Part 3- which is BOTH of them each sharing their P.O.V.’s back and forth. I found that was different but I did like it.
Dana’s son, Liviu had such an unusual name. Well at least to me an American reader. It also caused me to wonder about what the right pronunciation of his name was. And so I went and searched it and came up with several choices. Liviu also has a dog; a fluff ball named Baloo who helps introduce Dana and Thomas originally. Dana left quite the first impression…..*sigh how embarrassing and surprising.
Thomas was quite the guy. He was funny, loyal to a fault and he was a softie when it came to both animals and people. He is a regular “Marshmallow Man”.
The relationship between Thomas and Dana was being slowly built but not in a way that was painfully slow. As a reader, they exposed me to differing cultures, and some slang in languages. It was a fun trip and I also ended up feeling like I had taken a romantic European trip from their adventure. I also felt like the emotional parts of the story was handled well and felt realistic. But not only was there emotions but the story made me smile more than once. Some of that humor was provided by Liviu but Dana was no slouch when it came to witty humor.
I really liked that Liviu was part of this story because he also added so much. His interactions with Dana and Thomas and even his grandmother were an enjoyable, believable thing. So suited to his age and you got a pretty good look into his personality.
Manon, a woman friend of Dana’s adds some color and humor to the story. She was a great friend. She also added a HUGE misunderstanding on the part of Thomas in the beginning. It makes me smile again just remembering it.
I thoroughly enjoyed Dana’s Romanian mother, Ioana, the times that she showed up in the story. She was kind of flamboyant in a good way. I think Thomas put it best. He realized that the way she dressed matched her personality. That was so discerning of him and kind too.
Yes, the main characters do get together for world rocking sex. And of course that is before the past shows up to rock their worlds in an unexpected not quite as good way.
Epilogue anyone? Oh yes, I always want one of those. And Daniela provides a good one from her P.O.V.
It was kind of nostalgic to have some time spent at La Boheme since I have read some of the other books by Alix Nichols that featured it.
I just have to add how attractive I thought the eBook cover is.
I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader Copy of this book and these are my honest thoughts about it.
Another great series in the making for Alix Nichols. I recieved a complementary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review – but I would gladly pay full price for it. The writing is fantastic and this book hit me harder emotionally than her others. The writing style grabs you right away and keeps you hooked until long after the final page.
This is a highly entertaining read and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a wonderful read on a long weekend.
Can’t wait to see what comes next for these characters… hopefully we won’t have to wait too long!
Happy Reading…enjoy!
The storyline was well written and the characters were so well developed that I was totally captivated throughout the entire book! I look forward to reading more from this author!
I really enjoyed reading An Autumn in Paris. There’s humor, a bit of mystery – which will make you eager to reveal the plot or characters, drama, and sweet romance.
I liked how Dana and Thomas’ relationship blossomed. I loved the dynamics between Dana, Thomas, and Liviu. I love, love Liviu.
I did, however, feel that the last 10% was rather weak: a weak plot twist and a rather rushed ending.
Lovely read with wonderful characters set in autumnal Paris. Single mother concierge Daniela is stuck in the past and just managing financially when she meets her dog’s new vet and tries to resist their attraction to remain loyal to her son’s father’s memory. The vet also has a past he can’t seem to leave behind. With tentative steps and a few nudges from family and friends both are tempted to take a chance with a new romance. The small town community spirit of their friends and neighborhood haunts gave the story a cozy feel. Ah, Romance in Paris, who can resist?!
An Autumn in Paris is a great read. sweet, steamy, delightful and touching story; well written, great characters with plenty of steam. a must read! loved it! I received an ARC copy and I am giving my honest and voluntary review
An Autumn in Paris. Alix Nichols returns to romance in this book and it is a wonderful and decidedly satisfying hot story, she says, fanning herself! Dana is a single mom still emotionally committed to her son’s dead father. Thomas is a veterinarian still engaged to his missing fiancée. But the attraction between them is so strong that despite their best efforts they cannot seem to stay away from each other. But fate has a way of throwing things off balance and the path to a happy ending seldom is easy. Can these two survive the barrier placed on the road? I absolutely loved this story and always enjoy visiting France reading Ms. Nichol’s books. Characters are well defined and the author’s command of English grammar is better than a lot of American authors. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book. Most highly recommend.
After taking a divergent track with another genre, Alix is back to her romance roots with a simple, sweet story.
An Autumn in Paris focuses on single mom Dana and new-to-Paris vet Thomas. Both of them feel tied to another but are falling slowly, inexorably, hopelessly for each other. He ticks all of her boxes–treats her well, enjoys spending time with her son, and cares for her pet. She ticks all of his–trustworthy, gorgeous without flaunting it, and genuine. They enjoy each others’ friends and families and find spending time together easy and fun. Rather than a race to the end, this story slowly meanders, just like I imagine the Seine does, to its’ conclusion.
I loved how they met over a rambunctious pet at a vet appointment. I enjoyed the misunderstanding that allowed Thomas and Dana to spend time together so comfortably. I appreciated how normal, relatable characters they were and found it easy to root for them. I did find the end predictable, maybe from reading so many mystery books, and even with the slight curve ball was able to guess the ending. However, this did not detract from my enjoyment of a nice story with a happy ending.
I urge you to Step into An Autumn in Paris on a blustery, rainy day and enjoy losing yourself in their slow slide to coupledom. It is an easy, fun read I am sure you will enjoy.
Thomas and Dana’s tale of broken souls finding solace in one another is a beautifully written read full of marshmallow hearts, wit-filled banter, passion, chivalry and a side of hormonal teen knowledge thrown in!
Following along on their journey to happiness was a bumpy ride, riddled with self-doubt, heartache and challenging pasts, keeping me glued to my Kindle swiping pages, wanting to know how the perfectly imperfect characters would get their well deserved HEA.
I enjoy Alix Nichols contemporary romances, and was excited to get my hands on this book! While unique in its own right, ‘An Autumn In Paris’ is a touching, steamy, smile-filled swoonfest, that I could not help but love, and suggest checking out for yourself!
I loved Dana and Thomas’ story! Both characters have pasts to overcome. I enjoyed the banter between Dana, Thomas, Liviu, and Manon. It was great seeing the characters from La Boheme! This story was full of heart, family, overcoming the past, passion, and love. Can’t wait for more from these characters!
Emotionally stirring!
Dana and Thomas, two lovely people who are trying to restart their lives but their pasts keep hitting them between their eyes.
Alix Nichols has brought us, what I think is her most emotionally stirring story yet and I loved ever second of it.
I hope you decide to read it and join me in recommending it to others.
I read an Advance Reader’s copy and my review above is voluntary and unbiased.
