Teryn Windhorn, local mage, patrolled an area too large for him to handle. Stretched to his magical and physical limits, the Mage Council demanded he find an apprentice. Still, the past haunted him with the images of a beautiful young woman pressed to far beyond her skills and her teacher who should have seen, her teacher who should have saved her life.Jendaya Carinella lived, worked, and fought … worked, and fought magical beasts alone. It was, after all, what the bastard daughter of a mage, cast off from her own village had to do. Until a magical fight left her wounded and brought Teryn to find her.
Training her became imperative. Loving her, unavoidable. And one act of courage could finally show him the partner he needed. If he can only believe in an apprentice’s touch.

An Apprentice’s Touch by Mary Winter is such a wonderful story that I have loved reading. I can not wait to see what this author will write about next. I highly recommend this story to everyone who lvoes reading about fantasy , erotic and paranormal romance.

Mage Teryn Windhorn has been stretched to his limits guarding the remote villages of the forest realm from the twisted monstrous creatures that wander the forest. Half-mage Jendaya has decided that the guardian mage has been largely absent and takes matters into her own hands to protect her village, which nearly costs her life. When Teryn finds Jendaya, badly injured, he decides it’s time to take an apprentice.
The Apprentice’s Touch is a sexy, magical read. Teryn is brought to life as devastatingly handsome, strong, determined, and everything a reader could want in a book boyfriend. Jendaya is also strong, determined, feisty, and what we expect in a modern heroine. The two work together well and are a pleasure to read about. The magic itself is rather thin and made up mostly of just power blasts. The world around them is a fascinating place. While the villages seem normal and thriving, the creatures in the forests seem to have suffered from some sort of magical cataclysm, twisting them into different types of beasts, most of them unnatural, or at least unknown to our heroine. And the imagination that is put into the different types of creatures and their descriptions shines through. I really wish the author would have elaborated more on the world around them, but we really don’t get much of a whisper about the world outside of Teryn’s forest range. This is erotica. It does have quite a bit of story outside of the sex, so it is balanced nicely. The sex is graphic and there is BDSM (we’re talking bindings and whips). Teryn actually starts off her magic training with sex as submissive (and it rankled with me that he didn’t give her a choice. What if she didn’t want to have sex right then and there? What if the girl doesn’t want to be a submissive? It also begged the question of, what would have happened had Jendaya been a guy that he had found with untrained power in the forest?) Still, I liked the romance between the two, and it was a lot of fun watching Jendaya come into her own, trying to learn from him, though after a while, it felt like the story was spinning its wheels and just going from killing one magical monster to the next magical monster without anything much else happening.
A short well written story that kept me turning pages. This is local mage Teryn Windhorn, and his apprentice Jendaya Carinella’s story there is suspense, drama, danger, evil, magic, and romance. I enjoyed reading this book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
