Although I recommended this book, I didn’t give it five stars. I couldn’t completely identify with any of the characters. The plot is excellent, but with one character mentally ill, and the other two very shallow personalities, something was missing. The story is entertaining, but not satisfying enough for 5 stars.
This story started slow, gripped me as it moved along, but the ending was not all that remarkable. The premise was good and I enjoyed the psychological drama, and the cagey therapist.
What secrets do you keep? Money opens a portal into a scary world of jealous possession for one young woman in need. Her journey brings into focus her closely held past guilt and pushes back the walls of her moral ethics.
The book is always better, so snatch this one up before it becomes a movie.
I’m in the middle of reading this book right now and I can’t wait to finish my obligations so that I can get back to it. The scenes, the dialogue are so well-written that they feel very real. I don’t know what will happen next or how this could end.
This psychological journey builds and builds and builds.
It kept me on the edge!
Another edge of your seat psychological thriller by Greer & Sarah.
This story is totally uncanny, unique and makes you wonder, ponder, and question what would you do if faced with this situation.
Julia and Barrie did a fantastic job narrating these characters.

What an interesting book! Kept my attention the entire time and had me on the edge of my seat. I didn’t know what to expect on the next page. Outside my norm but I’m glad I tried it!
It kept me in the edge of my seat and although I thought I had predicted the ending … I really hadn’t. This book keeps your attention to the end. Topic is interesting also
Lots of great twists in this one. Love the 2 POVS in alternating chapters – great seeing scenes unfold in different ways.
I loved this book so much! When a young woman down on her learns of a paid college study, she decides to sneak into the study. She has no ill will, but the money would really help her out. Soon, the study gets very personal, but since it’s anonymous, Jessica Farris doesn’t see a problem with going forward. When Jessica is chosen to be a part of a follow-up “special” study that pays even more, she decides it’s probably worth it. However, things quickly start unraveling.
This book had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I was uncomfortable for Jessica from the beginning when she had to deep dive into some of the darkest aspects of her life. These characters were so likable and as someone who lives in New York and has struggled with money, I identified with Jessica. I was sucked in from the very beginning, and it was probably one of my favorite books of the year.
Devoured this in half a day, couldn’t put it down.
Jess needs money so enrols in a psychiatrist’s warped experiment.
When things spiral out of control, it’s riveting to see how she extricates herself from the clutches of Dr Shields.
A real page turner!
An Anonymous Girl is a 3.5 star story. Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen have the psychological thriller formula down. It’s fresh, not completely unbelievable, and has just the right amount of twists. Jessica Farris, a young makeup artist, sneaks into a high-paying “morality and ethics research project” being conducted by Lydia Shields, a psychology professor at New York University. Soon, their relationship becomes muddled and toxic. What is Dr. Shields after and how far will Jessica go to please her? And will morality and ethics play a role in their ultimate conflict? (less)
Well written, hard to tell what is going to happen next until near the end. In some places it’s hard to recognize which character is speaking, but it all works out.
An Anonymous Girl is the thriller that will mess with your head. From the first chapter I knew I was in for an amazing psychological thriller!
The story is based on Jessica Farris. A makeup artist in need of money she finds out about a study taking place that os paying $500. Although she isn’t invited to join she finds a way to participate in the study. Jessica soon finds out that the good doctor in charge of the study seems to know a little too much about her.
I loved this book and thought the way the author revealed the doctors thoughts as well as Jessica’s throughput the story worked really well. I haven’t read a story this good that I couldnt put down since Gone Girl.
Readers of psychological thrillers will love this!
Didn’t think the ending was realistic.
A great read, intense about manipulation and guilt. Jessica feeling guilt for leaving her sister in harms way, the manipulation of a psychiatrist who’s jealousy overcomes her reasoning. The ending was a little disappointing but it would’t stop me from recommending the psychological thriller.
I could not put the book down, a twisted thriller which leaves you wanting more.
Jessica slips in a study for morality. Even though she is compensated for her time some things just aren’t as they seem. This story is full of relatable situations and has you eagerly turning the pages until the end to see what happens next.
