A delightfully accessible paranormal romance. Violinist Raven need some help with her family’s magical violin, as she is desperate to use it for an important upcoming competition. Her grandmother recommends visiting the warlock whom she helped raise, Thornwood. Even though he is a recluse, Grandma believes that he will help her granddaughter. When Raven goes to Thornwood’s home, it is a bit scary, dark, and mysterious. Few have seen Thornwood as he doesn’t leave the house. Rather than help her with a violin, Thornwood put the spell on her and takes the violin from her.
Why doesn’t Thornwood leave his home? Why does he want the violin? What sort of magic does it have? What other forces are at work? What evil will be confronted?
The author does a good job writing Raven’s emotional turmoil throughout the book from the opening scene to the end. I could appreciate how much the violin meant to her. Thornwood is a very complex character, and watching him grapple with his warring desires made for a good read.
If you enjoy paranormal romance with well-drawn characters and a plot that keeps you turning the pages, you might enjoy this book.
Wow. The series get better and better.
I was actually thinking that something else was going to happen in the book and with the violin. I was wrong. I still wonder if my path would have worked, but I am not the characters and they dictate their story.
I am so happy that there will more of these books. I thought it was a trilogy and was sad when I started reading the book for that reason. HOORAY HOORAY. the other characters are getting their own stories too.
I can say that the book can be read by itself. there are enough small references that you would not be lost to what is going on the current story. I do highly suggest that you go back and read the others. It may come in handy when the next one comes out. I know because the references refresh my bad memory about what has happened and the characters, especially why I really like this series.
This my honest and freely given review. I did receive an ARC copy.
