Two wrongs don’t make a right – or do they? Gillian Jameson had lost her world when her husband died. Alone, scared, and desperate for something to fill the emptiness in her soul- she turns to the Pinkerton Agency for help. What she never expected was to be married again, especially to a man like Cade Malone. Cade had a recklessness to him that was born of sheer desperation. His wife and child … desperation. His wife and child were gone. He was running from memories that haunted him with every breath and nightmares that plagued him each night. What he needed was a reason to go on- and it certainly wasn’t in the form of a new partner.
Can two broken souls form a bond between them? Will seeing another person who is struggling to deal with the trauma in their lives be just the thing to help old wounds heal – or would falling for each other simply create another emotional scar that is just too great to bear?

Sweet Historical Romance
Two major losses in their lives bring out two wildcats when Archie wants them to marry, but as usual, devastation proves your true feelings!
I love this “hatred turns into love” type of romance!
We started this story with a different couple who met Gillian and that led to her reaching out to become a Pinkerton. And we finish with another couple destined for the Pinkertons.
Gillian and Cade has to work together as a married couple to try to solve a case. But having another spouse after losing a previous one is hard. But maybe they can stop bickering long enough to help each other heal.
These characters are both hurt and need healing. This emotional story was so good and I’m looking forward to read the other couple’s book.
I love this series because it features strong women who have overcome obstacles to become Pinkerton agents. In this case Gillian’s obstacle is the death of her husband (we can pray she never remembers what was said at that time). When she decides to become a Pinkerton agent she is matched with Cade who is still struggle with the death of his wife and newborn son. Ginny Sterling gives us a story that is touching, humorous at times, dangerous and uplifting. Plus we get a preview of an upcoming couple. Enjoyed this book.
Gillian Jameson and Cade Malone are two grief struck souls. Gillian needs her life to turn around and not be driven by the loss of her husband. Cade still has nightmares about losing his wife and child during the birth.
Jillian finds purpose when she hears about women now being accepted to the Pinkerton Agency as Agents. She knows the requirement of Marriage when she submits her application. But, she doesn’t know that she will be paired with the one man who has done everything he can to avoid this situation altogether. That is until Now! But remember the old addage Oil and Water…
Their case….. adventure…. takes them to Pennsylvania and coal mining. Can they crack the case without losing their control and keeping their cover intact? What will bring about their change…
Once again Ginny Sterling has created the perfect couple. Their personalities clash and mesh extremely well. Their adventure will bring tears to your eyes. First as their tragedies are brought to light you may shed a few sad tears, but as they learn to work as a team and couple, you will shed some happy tears as well.
I received an ARC of this book and am choosing to leave an honest review.
Two people who have lost their spouses and had their worlds turned upside down are hired on as Pinkerton detectives and asked to marry each other for an assignment. Gillian and Cade are not about to fall in love with each other….right? Um…sure! They are together only for an assignment and then never see each other again! Their first few days together are hilarious! They fight like nobody’s business! They are going to investigate life in the coal mines in Pennsylvania but have to pose as a married couple and that’s really stretching things because they can hardly be in the same room together! However, things slowly begin to change when Gillian & Cade meet another couple when they need information. I really enjoyed watching the change come about in this couple. I’m sure watching your spouse die is a hard thing but surely you can find love again! Come read about their adventure!
Enjoyed this book! Gillian is my favorite character with her sassy temper. A fun romance that kept me reading to see if Cade and Gillian would fall for each other. The characters had to overcome their fears and move ahead. This story had so many great things I enjoyed. Ginny Sterling is a master story teller!
