Jericho Buchannan knew this day was coming and dreaded it with every fiber in his being – he was going to be shackled into a loveless marriage with a woman he’d never seen before. Another great book by Ginny Sterling! The characters were fun and had me laughing throughout the book. I loved the plot with the bad people they were trying to catch and all the humor of the train ride. The romance was thought out and fell into place making the reader feel God had his hand on their lives. If you like romance, danger and humor you will love this book.
Was given a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.
I enjoyed reading this book! Both the girl and the boy were betrothed and were running away from the marriage to be Pinkerton agents! I recommend this book to anyone who reads romance!
Clementine is betrothed but doesn’t want to get married to a man she haven’t met. She wants her independence so decides to become a Pinkerton Agent. Jericho is on his way to accept his first case as a Pinkerton Agent. And then their adventure starts.
I really loved this story, it’s different and unexpected than other stories in this series. Looking forward to read Cade and Gillian’s story when it gets released, will be firework.
Clementine Fenton has been betrothed to Jericho Buchannan most of her life. The wedding was set to take place as soon as she turns 21, however without her knowledge it has been moved up! Her parents have grown tired of listening to her hopes and dreams and complaints about marrying a man she has never set eyes on. She wants a challenging life full of adventure. Finding an article about the Pinkerton Agency hiring women, she decides to sneak away and
capture a spot in this esteemed agency. Embarking on a Journey she will never forget!
Jericho Buchannan also has wanted a life of adventure and is headed to Denver CO as well, having just been accepted into the Pinkerton Agency himself. He has coerced his parents into delaying the wedding one month to give him time to report for his first case. Without knowledge of each other including looks, the two board the exact same train. Jericho is immediately attracted to the beautiful “Liberty”. They strike up a conversation and when disaster strikes in the form of a derailment orchestrated by the Jesse James Gang, they form a unlikely team and discover who each other truly is.
They team up as a married couple to solve a case directed by Archibald Gordon. Can they work together and complete the case? Will their marriage be annulled at the completion of this case?
Peculiar circumstances indeed drive this book forward and the characters will reach out to you and keep you reading. This book has a little twist with the couple already betrothed to each other before they meet. It makes it a fresh and exciting read!
I received an ARC of this book and am choosing to leave an honest review.
Clementine and Jericho are such a fun couple! When they first meet, they don’t know that they are actually the ones that are betrothed to each other and left their homes to get away from that betrothel! Their parents set it up when they were children and neither one wants to go through with it so they set off to do something more exciting and “accidentally” meet during a train wreck/robbery and as fate would have it, sit next to each other! However, things are not all roses and butterflies! Clementine is way ahead of her time, I believe, as she is very independant and once she finds out, she doesn’t want to “just get married” because she wants adventure and wants to be a female Pinkerton agent! It’s a new “trial” thing. Jerico was so fun and supportive at the same time. How he loves to tease Clementine! I enjoyed both of these characters and the people they meet along the way, especially the people they have to investigate as detectives. It’s a great book all the way around!
Sweet Historical Romance
As much as I’m enjoying these books they’re starting to “wrap up” a bit of easy to me.
There was so much talk about her knives in the beginning but then she doesn’t use them in the case. Why mention them at all? I do love the premise of this one, though! Two people escaping an unwanted betrothal to a stranger use the Pinkertons as their means of escape.
