Poor little rich girl Bernadette Chambers is weary of being told what to do. All her life, she’s been instructed how to dress, how to act, and who she is allowed to befriend. However, she draws the line at being told she has to marry a man she’s never met, even if refusing to marry him means being cut off from her family’s fortune. Realizing she’ll need a job to support herself in her bid for … independence, she decides to become a Pinkerton Agent, only to discover she’ll be required to marry a fellow agent (in name only) before receiving her first case.
Park Harrington is a shipping tycoon by day and a Pinkerton agent by night, which leaves him little time for courting. When the oldest daughter of his family’s greatest competitor refuses to to honor their arranged marriage agreement, he despairs of ever finding a suitable woman to lead to the altar. Then he finds out the name of the Lady Pinkertons’ newest recruit is none other than the spoiled, indulged debutante who refused his hand in marriage. He decides to get revenge by requesting to be matched to her for the next case!

I really enjoyed reading this book! It is about two Pinkerton agents that get married so they can work together! I recommend this book to anyone who loves romance books.
Loved Peak and Bernadette’s story!! She wanted adventure, not get married to the man picked out for her since birth! Little did she know what lay in store!!! Great book!!!
This story is a new twist on both arranged marriage and Pinkerton Matchmaker stories. Who knew that all those lessons in social niceties would come in handy working undercover. I found this story to be fun and enjoyed it.
I enjoyed this book. The read was fast and entertaining. Bernadette and Park were engaging characters.
Park was wealthy, but didn’t have what he felt it took to court a woman and make her happy. He relied on the marriage his parents had arranged. When that fell through he just wasn’t sure what to do besides concentrate on his business and his secret Pinkerton job!
Bernadette, the wealthy woman Park had been betrothed to. She was a reluctant bride, and decided to do something about it NOW. Leave and become a Pinkerton agent! How can this be? She knows what she wants and will do what she has to to become a Pinkerton.
Their paths will cross. How will they get through it? You need to read this book… It keeps you turning the pages!
I received an ARC of this book and am choosing to leave an honest review.
Bernadette is furious when she has to marry the man her parents has her promised to when she was just born. She always has done what was expected but this was the end so she runs from home to become a Pinkerton Agent. Park has no time to court a woman but he doesn’t have to, his marriage is already arranged when he was a little boy. Until he got a letter from his betrothed. But faith brings them together, or in this case a case. Will their marriage be a short term or the start of a HEA?
This is a really entertaining story. I loved the determination of Park to make something from their marriage.
I think these characters were among my favorites in the Pinkerton series! Bernadette has been promised to a man she’s never met since she was born basically. Can you imagine? I know that has happened in other countries for hundreds of years but you don’t think it happens in America! Bernadette was the daughter of a wealthy man and he expects her to marry a man that he chose a long time ago to bring together their two families. Bernadette wont stand for it so leaves home and becomes a Pinkerton agent! What gumption – especially at this time period! Then, there’s Park, who’s already a Pinkerton agent but also a shipping tycoon “by day” and when his next case involves human trafficking, he is “ordered” to get married in name only to another agent to crack the case. Well, isn’t it crazy that the agent he has to marry is none other than Bernadette and Park is the man she was supposed to marry in the first place! Boy howdy!!!! What a fun story this is! Love the characters and love the story! Come along for the fun!
