The characters in this book are wonderful. They are witty and pull unexpected events. This book is a worthwhile read.
WOW! Great read with wonderful romantic charters. Page turner that I couldn’t put down.
Will try other book of hers
Rosamonde is a widow, who is on her way to her sister’s wedding when bad weather forces her to stop at an inn. She meets Grayson, who has also stopped for the night. Because she has no plans to marry, she agrees to a night of pleasure. Eventually she and Grayson will find that they have something in common
Enjoyed this book, couldn’t put it down
Great story and characters – I was totally absorbed!
Great book. Will watch for rest of series
The humor and wit of the main character was great. Sometimes the story line moved a little slow but overall it was a great read
An Affair In Winter is an awesome historical romance by Jess Michaels. Ms. Michaels has given readers a well-written book. The characters are outstanding. Rosalinde married to get away from her abusive grandfather only to have to return when her husband dies. He hates her and makes her travel with servants to her sister’s wedding. Gray meets Rosalinde at a tavern where they are both taking shelter from a snowstorm. Gray and Rosalinde’s story is loaded with drama, humor, smokin’ hot sex, and a little action and suspense. I enjoyed reading An Affair In Winter and look forward to my next book by Jess Michaels. An Affair in Winter is book 1 of the Seasons Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
Their agreement was for only one night.
Although the plot in An Affair in Winter is a tried but true story-line, Jess Michaels’ writing made this set of circumstances enjoyable and interesting. I was fascinated by both Gray Danford and Rosalinde Wilde. Their damaged characters didn’t know what they were seeking until they found each other. Still, there were obstacles to overcome, including the ones of their own making.
I really liked so much about this book, but I was disappointed by the explicit sex. It was truly unnecessary. Ms. Michaels is a very good writer and her skill truly made their passion for each other come alive. The raw sex was over-kill. I wish these talented authors would realize that a readers imagination is a better conduit for enjoyment then is the explicit word.
I am giving this book 4 stars because I liked the writing, the story and the characters. Without the explicit sex and swearing, this book would have easily been a 5-stars read.
Content alert: There is a significant amount of swearing (d*mn, h*ll, g*d, b*stard & chr*st), as well as numerous explicit sex scenes.
Nice read
I received a ARC copy
Widow Rosalinde Wilde is on her way to her beloved sister’s wedding when an unexpected storm waylays her at an overcrowded inn. There she meets a tempting stranger who sweeps her into a night of unforgettable passion.
Grayson Danford is on his way to break up his brother’s betrothal.
Both Rosalinde & Gray are dismayed to discover they are the siblings of the betrothed couple. However their passion for each can’t be denied even though they are on opposing sides when it comes to the wedding.
A very enjoyable read, the chemistry between Gray & Rosalinde is hot. I’m looking forward to the other seasons
An Affair in Winter is an epic love story. A passion shrouded in secrecy, a wedding arranged by a spiteful, scheming, power hungry man and the hidden secrets he holds within his grasp lead to explosive revelations. Ms. Michaels has crafted a love story that mixes spice with emotion. Like a jigsaw, piece by piece she reveals more about the driving force behind each character. Rosalinde was a person who wanted to be loved and not treated like a means to an end. Her entire existence was center around the charity of her grandfather and his bitterness toward Rosalinde and her sister (who was the only bright spot in a heartbreaking existence). When her sister is forced into an arranged engagement and marriage to appease a vindictive old man, Rosalinde will risk her virtue, heart and well being to make sure her sister finds the happiness she deserves. Grayson is the brother of the groom, Rosalinde, the sister of the bride. A chance meeting, a secret affair and conflicting opinions make for a tempestuous romance filled with unforgettable moments that are as bewitching as they are heartbreaking. My favorite Jess Michaels story to date.
Predictable read. Would not buy the rest in this series or any more by this author.
I did enjoy this, but it was at times unintentionally funny. Sometimes their passion was a bit overwrought, but it was still a fun read.
Enjoyed this book. Will be looking for other books by this author.
I thought it was well crafted and the story held my interest. I don’t generally read this genre of books. In my Opinion, I felt the sex/love scenes were more graphic than they needed to be. Nothing was left to the imagination and I don’t think that added to the story.
Wonderful ! Something every woman or man dreams of! Enticing story that people dream of happening in their life. A dreame for everyone!
Easy to Read, Good character development, interesting hero & heroine. It had enough mystery and twists to be interesting. All in all, a good love story.
Really enjoyed reading this. Very steamy. Love how her giving and openness healed him. Like all the characters. Several typos could use a proofreader. I have enjoyed the “Season” series. Only negative there was no need for the F-word very unnecessary.
