She’s the light from his past. He’s the one her heart has always longed for. Trained by the best, Christopher Walker has fought hard for his country and even harder to forget the only girl he’s ever loved. He spent countless nights submerged in death and destruction only to find himself clinging to the memories of her when the darkness crept in. When her life is threatened, Christopher will … when the darkness crept in.
When her life is threatened, Christopher will stop at nothing to protect her. Even if it means having to confront his past.
Alissa Malone never thought she would find herself face-to-face again with the only boy she’s ever loved. But she soon realizes Christopher is not the same man he once was. His touch is still electrifying—his voice still earth shattering. But there’s a darkness about him that wasn’t there before. A pain he harbors so deep that she can feel it all the way to her soul.
One fateful moment destroyed his very existence, and only one person will be able to make him realize that what he considers an act of dishonor was truly an act of courage.

This is Book Four in the Acts of Honor series, the spin-off series to Men of Honor. It is not necessary to read all the other books in the series. However, I do highly recommend that you at least read Resisting Temptation, the third book in the Men of Honor series since this is where these Characters story began.

I read this when it first come out. I didn’t know about BookBub back then. Here is my review.
This book will gut you. It will consume you. It. Will. Rip. You. To. Shreds. This series has done nothing but make me think about the sacrifices that our military makes for us on a second by second nature. I just want to go hug every man and woman who has had to deal with things they have done, or things they have seen to protect our country. Yes, it’s a series book. Yes, I suggest that you read the others, but I think you can understand the beauty of this book without having read the other books. But, I ENCOURAGE you to read every book of this series. You will appreciate the book so much more if you do. And hold on to your heart. The last 30% of the book just found me doing that ugly cry thing we do in books. Christopher and Alissa have been in almost every Men of Honor and Acts of Courage book. We watched them fall in love. We cheered for them. We watched them grow up. Now, we get their story. If Christopher were a real person, I’d look at him and say, ” I am so proud of the human that you are.” This boy has been through the wringer. But, knowing he has the love of his family and extended family helps you to know that he will endure. I follow K.C. on Facebook and know the amount of herself that she put in this book. I think she deserves every great thing said about this book. It is a must read. Dual point of view, with a chapter via Cade as well. No cliffhanger.
My poor heart.
I’ve been so looking forward to this book. But my lil heart broke through this book. Christopher and Alissa’s story is heart breaking. I knew it wasn’t goin to be easy but they had to deal with so much. Christopher’s character is amazing this guy is so strong even from a small age this guy has had to deal with some horrible things. But he would be where he is now if it want for Faith and Cade. They have made a better life for him and his sister Ruthie. He couldn’t thank them enough for what they have done. But one person that made his life better was Alissa. They met in high school when Christopher life wasn’t so great but she was the light that he needed. They got closer with more time they spent together. But there were people that wanted to spoil what they had. They came from two different worlds she came from money and he didnt. This just made life difficult for them but they luvd each other they didn’t need people’s acceptance. But Christopher wouldn’t get in the way of Alissa having the best he alway had her best interests though sometimes she didn’t agree with him.
This story was brilliant I was looking forward to this book since Faith and Cade’s book Resisting Temptation. I knew there story was goin to be easy but wow they had to deal with a lot. Even after 5 years apart there connection was stronger than ever. No matter how much Christopher thought it was best to stay away he couldn’t she was always goin to be his one luv and no one could change that. I luv how strong they are together they make a great couple. Alissa would do anything for him she could see he was dealing with something so bad but he had to get her protect him to. He shouldn’t have to deal with his demons on his own but he is one stubborn man.
I would highly recommend this book and series. I would recommend that you read the Men of Honor series first this is a spin off series. You won’t be disappointed there all brilliant book. This author is amazing her writing is flawless. Every book just gets better and better. I was addicted to this book from the start. I’ve been like that with everyone of her books there just so good.
I don’t even know where to start this review but what I know for sure is KC Lynn has done it again with An Act of Courage. This book is so special and so beautifully written that it’s the first book that has kept me up until after midnight in a long time.
I was so excited to read this book but I love how KC takes her time and doesn’t rush her releases she gets the best out of her books and wouldn’t want it any other way.
Now Christopher and Alissa we meet in Resisting Temptation and even though they were not the main characters you could tell that there was something really special about these two and was soooooo happy to get their own book.
Christopher did not have the best role models in his life and was treated pretty badly in his childhood and the only person he felt loved him was his sister Ruthie, that was until the day that Faith came into their life’s and she was never leaving. Christopher then grew up and went into the Navy and left the girl behind that he loved so much.
Alissa was a beautiful, selfless, loving character and was such a joy to read. She loved Christopher with all her heart and when anyone put him down, or told her he wasn’t good enough for her she fought for him and never judged him and went with her heart, until the day he left.
These two were each other’s first loves and really each other’s only loves but it’s a tough road for both of them to find each other again, Christopher struggles with his life after war and what he went through was horrible. I love the relationship that Cade and Christopher have, but by the end of the book and I love seeing it become stronger.
I also just loved having all the other characters popping in and out as well it just keeps this series so bound together. I will admit though just getting Ruthie in another book was awesome and I love that her character had stayed the same and she looked up to Christopher still. Mia she was a bright spark in this book which was fantastic, in a sad book anytime she was there she would make you smile.
I have to say that those lyrics for the song were so beautiful and I can’t get them out of my head they were fantastic. There are some really memorable scenes in this book that I will never forget and I know that I had to put the book down a few times just to pull myself together, just so I could keep reading, but for me again this is what I want out of a book cause I was feeling so many emotions.
Everything about this book was fantastic, I cried, my heart broke into a million pieces and I think with all KC Lynn’s book I feel I lose a bit of myself in there because the writing is so good that I can picture and feel like I’m in the story and there is nothing more than I can ask for in a book and in an author.
This book exceeding my expectations and if you’re looking for a heart-warming beautiful story with drama and some hot hot sex scenes then you really need to read this straight away and please if you haven’t even started this series do yourself a massive favour and drop everything and start now. I really wish I could start KC’s books all over again for the first time. This book needs way more than 5 stars again if I could give it a million I would.
**Music is the voice of the soul**
A heartbreaking, emotional but heartwarming story that will stay with you long after you’ve read it. That’s how good this was! I don’t think all the words could express how much I loved and enjoyed reading this book. I had tears in my eyes but it was so worth it. Definitely worth more than 5 stars for me!
Christopher and Alissa have been together in high school but Alissa’s mother doesn’t approve of their relationship and in the end of some revelations, Christopher decides to do the right thing although it feels wrong. Years later, when Christopher returns from the war, he isn’t the same person that left. But when something happens to the one person that he didn’t want to let go off, it’ll ignite whatever they thought was broken. In the end, sometimes there are things you truly can’t ignore and you have to fight for what you want, no matter what.
“Sometimes, just sometimes, you find the one thing that you didn’t know you were looking for. And when that happens, hold on to it ‘cuz you never know when it could be your last moment….”
You know those authors you love and you’re waiting to read their latest work of art and then you do and you can not grasp how good the book is, you wonder how is this person such a genius.
Seriously Ah-friggen-mazing, that’s what this book is, loved loved loved it. You are always guaranteed an exceptional read from KC. (I had great but the word wasn’t enough)
She pulls at your heart string, how do you write something so tragic emotional and beautiful all at the same time then you’re crying your friggen eyeballs out because it hurts.
It’s truly an amazing love story. There are many funny bits too but I won’t spoil you will want to experience it for yourself.
