From Wall Street Journal and Amazon #1 Bestselling author Terri Osburn comes a new installment in the Shooting Stars series.Veronica Shepherd thought she was fine. She thought she was over her ex-husband. But now said ex-husband is marrying his high school sweetheart–the only woman he’s ever really loved–and Veronica is not taking the news well. In fact, she’s spending Christmas Eve drinking … Eve drinking herself into oblivion, and into the arms of one sexy bartender.
Based on his childhood alone, Cameron Rhodes should either be in prison, in rehab, or six feet under. Instead, he’s spent the last twenty years building a life that no one could have predicted. Now, to his own disgust, he’s been named one of Nashville’s most eligible bachelors—mostly because he’s one of the wealthiest men in town. A rich mortal among the stars.
Cam’s life is turned upside down when a beautiful woman passes out in his arms. With nothing but a dead cell phone and a useless coat check ticket to go on, his only option is to take her home and let her sleep it off in the safety of his apartment. What follows is an adventure he never saw coming.
Before the ball drops on New Year’s Eve, Veronica and Cam will pretend to be lovers, become real lovers, and consider the possibility of becoming so much more.

‘Among the stars’ is the fourth book in the ‘Shooting stars’ series and unlike the other books, this one is a novella length story. Perfect, if you want a great and quick read. You don’t have to read the previous books in the series to read this one. It can perfectly be read as a standalone Christmas story.
For the readers who have read the others book in this series (like I did), they will be happy to know that this story is about Veronica Shepherd, Ash Shepherd’s ex-wife (Ash is the main male character in the third book ‘Wishing on a star’). And in this story we get to see him marry his sweetheart Jesse. A little bonus for the readers of this series.
Veronica and Ash may have been divorced for many year and still be good friends, even so when Veronica hears the news of Ash’s wedding plans with his girlfriend Jesse, she still feels sad and upset about it. Not because she wants him back but because of the fact that he’s moving on and she’s still single at 34 years, no husband or children to call her own. So she does the one thing that you can do in that situation and that is going out on girls’ night. Never expecting that she would meet someone that night, someone who will turn her life upside down.
Just like the other books in this series, I enjoyed this story too. I had it on my TBR pile for some time now because of the Christmas theme in it, I decided to wait until the ‘winter/Christmas’ season to read it. (I prefer to read my Christmas stories during the cold winter days).
‘Among the stars’ was, like mentioned before, a novella length story, so things processed quickly between Veronica and Cameron ‘Cam’ (it all took place in one week) but I liked it, the storyline felt believable and the story was well developed and good paced. We got to know Veronica and Cam pretty good, their past and their present life. It certainly helped that we got both POV’s in the story. Both main characters were great. Both were intelligent and good people. Cam was respectful, honest, trustworthy, responsible and hardworking. A gentleman with a good and protective heart for the people close to him but also to strangers in trouble and a very good boss to his personnel. But he was also emotional closed off (because of his difficult childhood). Veronica was a strong, independent businesswoman, who also worked hard but who was also a bit of a free spirit, she came from a loving family and was looking to have one of her own. Something that Cam wasn’t looking for. He was so used to being alone that he thought that that was what he wanted but that all changed when he met Veronica and felt for her.
From the beginning you could feel an attraction between Veronica and Cam and it was lovely to see it grow during the story. It was a light, emotional, sweet, sexy read. Veronica’s family was interesting and it was lovely to see Ash and Jesse prepare for their wedding.
‘Among the stars’ was a lovely ‘Christmas’ story and I really hope that the writer will write another book in this series soon.
I enjoyed this short romantic fake relationship story. I’m glad that Veronica was able to find her HEA. I enjoyed these characters & the fast connection made.
A fun quick Christmas in July romance. A fake relationship develops after Veronica is feeling sorry for herself when she finds out her ex husband is getting married, and has a pity me party at a local bar when she drinks herself into oblivion. What’s the bartender to do but comes to her rescue, and takes her home. Cameron, is known as the most eligible bachelor but is unable to open his heart. The next morning when Veronica wakes up, she soon schemes up this fake relationship to last through the holidays, not expecting real love to develop.
Loved this book , a fast paced story full of emotion and romance. The perfect read for the beach, to finish in one afternoon. This book is part of a series but can read as a stand alone.
Among The Stars: A Novella is book four in the Shooting Stars series by Terri Osburn. I have read the first two books in this series and fell head over heels in love with them. This novella can most definitely be read as a stand alone. The third book is about Ash and his story which would have added some back ground for me for this one but not having read it didn’t detract from my love of this book at all. And I did love it.
Veronica Shepherd and Ash have been divorced for years and have become best friends since. Everything was fine until Ash connected with his previous love, his true love. And now he’s engaged. It shouldn’t bother Veronica. She wasn’t carrying a torch for him. But somehow, seeing him so happy with his fiancé did bother her.
It’s Christmas Eve and rather than sit around and feel sorry for herself. Veronica decides a night hitting the bars is the medicine she needs. So she calls up a friend and off they go. But somewhere along the line, the friend hooks up with someone and Veronica is on her own. She ended up at Rhodes Tavern with the sexiest bartender she’s ever seen. Except now she’s seeing two of him, and they look a little blurry. She’s obviously had too much to drink.
Cameron Rhodes is the owner of the Rhodes Tavern. Cam might not have had a very good start in life. But he has fought and scraped himself into a very wealthy man, a good life. The beautiful woman in front of him is obviously intoxicated. When he attempts to help her to get home, she literally passes out in his arms. With no identification, his only option is to take her to his place for the night where she’ll be safe.
The next day, Christmas Day, Veronica convinces Cam to become her fake boyfriend for the afternoon, which soon morphs into needing to keep up the ruse for the entire week, until New Years. But fake soon turns to real feelings as Veronica and Cam get to know each other. Veronica has a way of getting behind all the walls Cam has built up. When she gets him to smile for the first time, really smile, getting him to do it more immediately becomes Veronica’s main objective in life. Is it possible that they won’t have to say good-bye at the end of the week? That this, whatever it is, could continue?
I loved this. For a short book, it held so much! I loved both Veronica and Cameron. Not having read the previous book, I had no connection to Ash. So all of my loyalty went to Veronica. And wow, the chemistry between the two of them was jumping off the pages. It was so obvious to me that Veronica and Cam belonged together. I enjoyed this so very much and hope you do as well. Better yet, check out the whole series. I have a feeling you won’t regret it!
