Amish Front Porch Stories by Wanda E. Brunstetter, Jean Brunstetter & Richelle Brunstetter contains eighteen short tales of simple faith and wisdom. These short stories take us to Amish country where each woman is going through a struggle. I like that each story teaches us a life lesson. Simple Actions takes us to Berlin, Ohio where Anna Hostettler lives next to Lucy who is a chronic complainer. What is the best way to handle Lucy? Cardinal at the Window in Seymour, Missouri has Esther Stutzman struggling with depression while being overwhelmed with raising her seven children. How can Esther find joy once again? Nina’s Struggle has Nina Miller uncovering the truth about her father. I enjoyed each of these uplifting stories. We get to see these Amish women have problems just like us. Just because they choose to live differently, does not mean they do not have struggles. Depression, loneliness, pride, feeling awkward, lacking confidence are problems all of us face. These stories allow us to learn a new way to overcome these various issues. There is a scripture that go along with each story. I found myself writing down many of them to contemplate later. I feel that Amish Front Porch Stories would make a lovely gift especially to an individual who has trouble overcoming depression. Finding joy in a humdrum life can be hard, but there were some great tips provided. You can read one, two or all eighteen of the short tales in Amish Front Porch Stories. I enjoyed these well-written, heartwarming tales. This is one of those books that I will be find myself visiting often.
This book left me contented and inspired to be more understanding of those around me. My plan was to read a story a day but once I started reading I could not put it down. A few stories left me wanting more just because I fell in love with the characters. My favorite was how each chapter ended in a bible verse.
I look forward to buying this book as a gift for several readers in my life.

Amish Front Porch Stories
by Wanda E. Brunstetter Jean Brunstetter, and Richelle Brunstetter
Amish Front Porch Stories are filled with thoughtful, encouraging, inspiration and a scripture verse, with situations that can apply daily lifestyles. This is a wonderful collection of stories; a collaboration from three-generations of Brunstetter woman, each of the stories are unrelated and are about the length of a short chapter of a novel. Ms. Brunstetter was the first Amish author I ever read, and I have enjoyed reading her work, she has a simple and peaceful way of discussing the context of her stories, with love, gentleness, and moderation; a message to share with her readers. Ms. Wanda E Brunstetter has become one of my favorite Amish authors, I enjoy reading and becoming inspired by her books. This collection contains stories from everyday life amid the Amish characters portrayed. Most come across as quite simple and ordinary, but a few are more memorable. I prefer longer stories with more plot, but these do highlight some interesting characters. The people in the stories seem realistic but their conversations sometimes sound contrived rather than smooth flowing. We don’t need so much “told” in dialogue. I received a copy from Netgalley. All opinions are my own.
“Amish Front Porch Stories” is the Brunstetter family’s collection of short stories with the themes of the spiritual fruit mentioned in Galatians 5. Good job of covering broad topics, which include Alzheimer’s Disease, family relationships, and decisions about whether to stay iwth the Amish faith. Personally, I appreciate that the stories are wholesome and not political! There is something in this collection for everyone!
this is a collection of 18 short stories of faith and wisdom, set in amish villages.
As says Galatians 5:22-23 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance:
against such there is no law”, the book is divided into 9 chapters, which are the fruits.
Well written, the authors make the readers think about important topics, with simple stories.
The stories are inspirational, God and family centered, lovely. I enjoyed very much reading them.
New York Times Best-selling Author Wanda E. Brunstetter, her daughter-in-law Jean Brunstetter and granddaughter Richelle Brunstetter all team up to present a novel packed with 18 short stories of the Amish lifestyle. The nine fruits of the spirit are each presented as separate chapters of two stories each. Perfect for quiet, peaceful reading on the front porch, AMISH FRONT PORCH STORIES is also great for lunchtime reading or when just a quick break for reading is needed. I recommend this book to readers of short stories and especially fans of Amish novels.
Simply delightful! Amish Front Porch Stories is written by beloved author Wanda Brunstetter with her daughter in law, Jean Brunstetter, and granddaughter Richelle Brunstetter. Seriously, the Brunstetter women have the art of telling simple, stories down to a science.
Each story, written by alternatively by one of the Brunstetters, focus on the simplicity of Amish life while, at the same time, reflecting that despite the seeming simplicity, the Amish experience life as most of us. The caveat, however, is that God-focused simplicity is applied to everything in their lives, that creates a much different perspective than many of us “Englischers”.
Because the book is a compilation of short stories, one can sit down for a few minutes of refreshing reading. It can be read it it’s entirety or by story should one choose to read something else at the same time. It’s a Storybook!
I highly recommend Amish Front Porch Stories.

What a perfect book for anyone who loves inspirational stories! This book is a compilation of 18 short stories, themed around Biblical faith and wisdom. There are two stories for each of the following themes: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance. Readers will connect with the struggles of the fictional Amish characters, and the resolutions to each story leave the reader with hope and encouragement for how to resolve their own struggles. Each story also ends with an inspirational Bible verse that is relevant to the story’s theme. The front cover illustration of two front-porch rocking chairs is perfect for this book, because it truly is an ideal book to sit on the front porch with and read while you sip a glass of tea or cup of coffee! It’s great for a guest room bedside table or coffee table, too: anywhere you like to have a book that you (or anyone) can pick up and read even for just a few minutes. It leaves you feeling good in your soul! My favorite story was Unexpected Joy. The setting was in a town only about 40 minutes from where I live! I loved the reminder about how focusing our attention on the simplest of joys can truly be a gift and can bind up our wounds, no matter how deep they are. What a hope and encouragement for the sometimes cruel and painful world we live in today! Each story in this book has a unique lesson that will touch your heart and inspire your thoughts. This book was provided to me by Barbour Publishing. I was not required to leave a positive (or any) review. Opinions and ideas expressed in this review are my own.
Front Porch Stories is an inspirational collection of eighteen short stories that read like devotionals. Using the fruits of the spirit as subjects, the stories teach lessons of love, joy, patience among many others. They have a scriptural reference included with each one.
I found the stories thought provoking and encouraging. They are short and perfect for a time of devotion. All issues are relevant with life today even if it wasn’t necessarily relevant to mine.
The writing style is smooth and each story flows from beginning to end with ease. I was drawn in and felt some of the raw emotions that burdened the characters, also. How many of us have been over tired or had someone grate on our nerves? This book gives examples how to biblically respond to such situations.
I loved this book and plan on gifting it to some at Christmas. The stories are unrelated except for being part of the fruit God gives us. I highly recommend it and encourage you to get a copy for yourself. A small group could study one or two chapters a week and glean much encouragement.
This gets a high 5 out of 5 stars rating from me. A copy was provided by the publisher but these are my own, honest words.

Amish Front Porch Stories by Wanda, Jean, and Rochelle Brunstetter
I loved these stories of faith, hope, and love, written by the three Brunstetter women.
Having read so many of Wanda Brunstetter’s books, as well as all the books the three have written together, I knew I would love this book and was so excited to get my hands on it. These 18 short stories centered around the fruits of the spirit, were so enjoyed, easily read, and brought out encouraging words and thought provoking points.
This is a book you don’t want to miss!
I received a copy of this book from the publisher, but was not required to give a positive review. This is my honest opinion of this book.
This book is an easy-to-read and enjoy collection of stories that I found very encouraging. Each story has its own characters and situations that are easy to relate to: everything from having too much pride to not handling frustration in a productive way. Faith and scriptures play a part in each story and dealing with the situation presented. The collaboration of stories from Wanda, Jean, and Richelle shows that talent for writing and storytelling definitely runs in the family. I really loved this short story option as I could read one story at a time as I had a free moment, and then be able to think on the lesson shared. Very pleasant, heart-touching read!
If you are looking for stories that captures encouragement, forgiveness, hope and unconditional love, look no further. Each story is unique and flows so gracefully that you feel a sense of peace as you read them. It is easy to picture yourself sitting on the front porch with Amish neighbors and friends as you share your struggles and accomplishments.
The stories are short but so relaxing to read. It was hard to pick out one story over others that I liked. Each one had different topics but you can easily relate to them. I loved how the stories help readers understand that the Amish have similar problems like us. Sometimes we can think that the Amish are different and in some ways they are. When it comes to matters of the heart, we all go through similar feeling and realize that God needs to be a part of our lives to help us get past the mountains that block us from our faith.
I love that the chapters are divided into topics like peace, love, joy and other very familiar subjects related to the Fruits of the Spirit. I loved how the stories helped me see where I am struggling and it encourages me to seek God more. This book is one that should be placed on your bookshelf to read again when you need an encouraging word. I felt like I walked away with a renewed sense of purpose and peace knowing that God is right there to lift me up.
I received a copy of this book from the authors. The review is my own opinion.
Inspiring short stories by Wanda, Jean and Richelle Brunstetter. They are about Love, Peace, Joy and Faith. They help in dealing with some everyday situations we may face. Easy reading
‘But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.’ Galatians 5:22-23 NIV
The cover of this book suggests front-porch sitting and visiting with friends and that is just what this book is about. Fictional friends, family, and neighbors are given the chance to help others by listening, sharing advice, and offering help and support as they try to live by the fruits of the Spirit that are mentioned in Galatians 5. Amish Front Porch Stories is a collection of eighteen heartwarming and entertaining short stories that remind readers of the special Christian qualities that we all should strive to attain and maintain.
Wanda Brunstetter is known for her wholesome books about Amish life and Christian living and she has contributed ten stories to this collection, along with eight more that are written by her daughter-in-law Jean and her granddaughter Richelle. All of them feature a relevant and familiar topic: infertility, feeling overwhelmed during child-rearing years, getting along with others, loneliness, and aging are just a few mentioned but I feel sure that everyone reading this collection will find at least one story that seems to be written just for them!
This is the perfect book to have when reading time is limited and it is a must-read for fans of Amish and Christian fiction.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author and Barbour Publishing but a review was not required. These are my honest thoughts.

A wonderful collection of short stories by three generations of Brunstetter women, Wanda, Jean and Richelle. Each story can easily be read in one sitting and will touch your heart and soul with a special message. Wanda Brunstetter once again collaborates with her daughter in law , Jean and her grand daughter, Richelle to bring us 18 inspirational stories in their newly released book. Amish Front Porch Stories.
These wonderfully written stories are based on the Fruit of the Spirit, as found in the Book of Galatians.
They are stories of wisdom and the lessons that we learn in life.
One of the stories is about a neighbor, who is a chronic complainer, a young mother, who is struggling to raise her young children, a young girl and her dog.
A story of a prideful woman, and her prized quilt.
At the end of each of these stories is an appropriate Bible verse chosen for that particular story.
