I enjoyed reading this Amish religious fiction book that included some romance and lots of suspense! I really liked the main character Katie and her determination, courage, and strong conviction to help others-especially her family. Adam was also a great character as he struggled to discover himself as a person, forgive and forget the past, and protect those around him.
Easy to read, great characters, suspenseful plot! I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.
Amish Covert Operation is a Love Inspired Suspense that will have you on the edge of your seat. I thought the story was well-written and it had a peppy pace. I found the main characters of Katie Schwartz and Adam Troyer to be appealing. Each of them has a history along with flaws (makes them relatable). Katie is a widow with twin daughters. Her brother, Timothy is the last of her family and she is used to seeing him daily as he tends to her animals. Since Easter, though, he has not been around, nor has he been attending church. Katie wants to get answers from him and heads to his farm. Katie sees something she should not and finds herself on the run with Special Agent Adam Troyer protecting her. Adam had a rotten childhood with an alcoholic father, and he had his own battle with bottle. Adam feels is his unworthy of God and someone as lovely as Katie. Katie is a woman of faith and knows that God is watching out for her. She prays for guidance and assistance. I liked the dialogue between Adam and Katie as they got to know each other. The story was enhanced by Adam’s struggle with faith and finding his way back to God. The story was full of action as Katie and Adam tried to stay one step of ahead of the criminals. I liked the inclusion of coded message (I have a thing for ciphers). There is a great action packed ending that will have you quickly turning the pages to find out what happens next. I enjoyed the epilogue that wrapped up Amish Covert Operation. Amish Covert Operation has suspense, electric sparks, gunshots, and perilous situations.
I love this story! Finished it in one day, I had to know how it all came out! Author Meghan Carver did a terrific job of creating just the right amount of tension within the storyline, and the main players are so well-developed as to make me believe they were real!
Within the last 2 or 3 years, Amish widow and young mother, Katie Schwartz, has lost most of her family; with her parents gone and her husband’s death, Katie is left with young children and a small farm to tend. Her brother has been taking over the farm chores at her place plus his own family farm, but something serious is amiss. Katie’s brother has gone missing, leaving no trace or word of his whereabouts, yet someone continues to tend to the animals on his farm.
Distraught with concern Katie takes matters into hand, deciding to conduct an investigation of her own. Arriving at her brother’s farm, Katie begins searching the barn, finding clean stalls and fresh hay for the horses, Katie is confounded. Then she spies a small piece of paper on the barn floor, picking it up she finds what appears to be a Social Security Card but having never seen one before she is just not sure. Then she hears noises and spies someone fleeing the barn and running out through the fields.
What follows next is fraught with danger; meeting Adam Troyer, a federal agent assigned to uncover a crime ring, may just be the most dangerous thing Katie Schwarz experiences. Adam is an englisher and despite her attempts to prevent it, her heart beats wildly whenever the man is about.
I highly recommend Amish Covert Operation, it is not often I am able to read a book in a day, but with this one nothing was going to stop me from getting to the very end!

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK
Being a widow with two daughters, Katie Schwartz is depending on her brother to help her. But when he didnt show up for several monthts, she was worried and went looking for him, but she found more than she was expecting. After being shot at, ICE agent Adam Troyer came to her rescue and pulled her to safety. Why an ICE agent in her neighborhood? Join the fun to find out in this Love Inspired suspense that will have you on the edge of your seats.
I enjoy Amish books and once in a while an Amish suspense comes along that makes the genre more interesting. I really enjoyed Amish Convert Operation, the suspense has the story moving at a fast pace and I didnt want to stop reading until I finished it. Even though there are a lot of differences between Katie and Adam, I really liked both characters. Katie was a strong women and dies her best taking care of her home and children after her husband’s death. And she has a strong faith in God, and it shows in her life. Adam’s grandparents were Amish, but his home life with his parents was anything but Amish.
As the two tried to solve a code given to them by Katie’s brother, and as they spent more time together, the attraction grew. The story is action packed and fast paced but the romance, not so fast, but it’s there and its nice. And the main thing I enjoyed about this book is the way the author weaved the Lord and faith into the story and into Katie’s life, making it clear that we can do nothing without the Lord. Our strength comes from Him.
If you enjoy Amish fiction, and especially of you like suspense, you will love this book. I encourage you to pick up a copy and read it for yourself! If you like Amish books with suspense and mystery then this book is for you! Great characters that help draw you into the story with their everyday lives. The plot was written very well and kept me on the edge of my seat, action and suspense filled. I loved how Katie shared her faith with Adam, this was very beautifully done along with the clean romance between them. Both Katie and Adam have plenty of hurt in their lives and the author does a great job of showing how God can heal our past. This story will pull you in from the first page and keep you intrigued until the very end! This is a great read and you will be glad you picked it up.
Was given a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.
Love Insipred suspense is always my go to when I want a good quick read. This one didn’t disapoint, I loved the idea of an amish suspense story(I haddnt read one before). I thought this book was great and I would say that you should read it 🙂

It’s hard these days to find a good book that has all the perfect ingredients: suspense, drama, internal struggles, good guys, bad guys, and wonderful characters amid a beautiful, tight-knit community. This is exactly what you get with Amish Covert Operation. Calming, yet somehow on the edge of my seat, from the first page this book had me hooked. Questions constantly circled my mind until the very end, and the ending itself was surprising yet somehow predictable all at the same time. An amazing combination!
With a beautiful chemistry between Katie and Adam that flows masterfully, as well as supporting characters that are both charming and evil, this book truly has it all. An absolute pleasure to read and highly recommended.
*I have reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the publisher through JustRead Blog Tours. All opinions are completely honest, and my own.
I have not read very many suspense novels that featured the Amish but Amish Covert Operation is one such book. In it widow Katie Schwartz finds herself in the center of a very dangerous situation and her life in danger just because she tried to find her brother. Saved by federal agent Adam Troyer, Katie soon learns that she is in deep trouble and needs his protection.
The plot of Amish Covert Operation is fast-moving with plenty of action and danger. It is a given that there is also romance involved – after all it is a Love Inspired novel and the attraction between Katie and Adam is resisted by both which is also pretty much expected. Of course all readers of Love Inspired novels know the basics of how this will end but all the fun is in seeing how the characters reach that point. True-to-life example of faith under fire including natural doubts during the trials is illustrated well. Anyone who enjoys Amish fiction or suspense should love this book. Others may enjoy it as well.

I really enjoyed this book! I enjoyed the pace of it. I liked how it kept me guessing. I would definitely like to read more from this author.
I was given a complimentary copy of this ebook from the author, but was not required to write a review. The thoughts and comments are my own.
“I really like the conflict of Amish and Englisch thrown together in stories, so when I saw the description of Amish Covert Operation, I was eager to read it.
Poor Katie was only trying to find her brother and found herself being shot at and running for her life! How a good Amish man could get embroiled in such doings normally wouldn’t be believable yet author Meghan Carver made it work.
I liked that Katie was both strong and weak. She could climb trees well, knew when and how to stay silent, held on to her trust in the Lord, and yet fainted at the sight of her own blood.
The action and suspense were enjoyable, flowed well, and seemed feasible for the most part. There were a couple of situations that arose that didn’t entirely make sense yet they did not detract from the rest of the story.
While I appreciated that faith is important to the author and that she emphasized its importance in the story, Adam’s faith struggle and the way it was resolved seemed a little contrived. Katie had seemed to trust the Lord throughout the story, and then at the end it was said she really hadn’t been trusting Him, again seeming contrived.
There were also some continuity problems. For example, in the beginning, the description was given as in the months since Katie’s husband’s death. Yet later it is said to be four years after.
Readers of Amish fiction and suspense should consider adding Amish Covert Operation to their library.

Katie Schwartz is a widow with two young twin girls, her brother has been a great help to her since her husband’s death, but when he suddenly goes missing she finds herself in the middle of a federal investigation working with Agent Adam Troyer.
Adam Troyer’s grandparents were Amish, but he grew up in a non-religious home, he admires Katie’s strong faith and her strength. He wants to do all he can to protect Katie and bring back her brother safe. As they work together, they find their hearts challenged by their growing friendship and questions of faith.
Adam has seen a lot of things and grew up with his father who resented his own Amish upbringing. He is good at his job, he is dedicated to keeping Katie safe, he is respectful and curious about her faith.
Katie has lived a relatively sheltered life, she hasn’t travelled much outside of her community, and is willing to everything she can to help her brother and protect her daughters. She has a strong faith, and shares what she believes with Adam.
Engaging suspense, with strong heroes and filled with faith. Good dialogue between Adam and Katie build their relationship. I enjoyed this exciting and compelling read, good plot, and high stakes. I loved how Katie and Adam make sacrifices for their loved ones, and the action packed ending.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
My Thoughts:
Amazing book! Wow. Just wow. I got the book, downloaded the book, read the book all within a matter of hours. Did not want to put it down. Very well written. It definitely gripped me in and wouldn’t let go. I had to know how it would end!
I predicted some parts but I’m still questioning others. Like the bad guys. Who were they? Why did they target Katie’s brother? What information did Adam have about them and the crime ring before he came to Katie’s Amish community? I think we need a prequel now.
About the Book
General information about the book. Katie Fischer is widowed with twin daughters. Her husband died in a sawmill accident and her brother has been helping her as much as he can. Until he’s not. Suddenly he’s no longer helping her out as much, not stopping in to chat, and not attending church. She knows something is terribly wrong and is determined to find out what.
But then all of a sudden she’s been shot and a strange man is trying to get her to safety. What is happening? Will she come out alive? What about her brother? Is he really involved in criminal activity? And can she trust Adam Troyer with her life let alone her heart?
Loved it. The twin girls are not talked about enough but their names are so cute and I’m a sucker for twins. I’ve always wanted to have a set as I grew up with older twin brothers.
I give the book a highly recommend. It read super quickly and definitely kept me interested. The characters were appealing and made me feel like I was part of their circle. As I mentioned I would like more information about the criminal activity but that’s just because I love a good mystery book and want all the juicy details.
Definitely a good new author to follow and see what else she has available.

Another blind-date with an Amish book! Even better – a suspense filled Amish book? Wow! I’m definitely settling in for this one.
I was introduced to this author by way of another JustRead tour – a cozy mystery. While that was entertaining and cute, this book is definitely where the author’s talent shines.
This was actually the “second” book in what I hope is a continuing series. The first one is “Amish Country Amnesia” (2018). And, despite this book being the second one, I had no idea. It truly stands alone on its own without the first one. Though, I will be sure to get the first one.
As someone who had read several genres in just the past year – and some “continuing” series – it is rare for a writer to be able to have a standalone stand on its own without needing the first book.
Right off it begins with the cover. Some book covers are plain and ordinary. And, while one shouldn’t judge a book by the cover – how does the book grab the reader’s attention in the first place?
This cover of a creepy old building with a worried Amish woman sets the tone of the novel and literally asks “what is wrong, what is going on”. From there, it sets off in a fast-pace speed with an overwhelming urgency, with a bicycle no less. From there, the action doesn’t stop – it literally does not stop. It has a heart-stopping, pulse-pounding rhythm that flows naturally.
Normally, when reviewing books I try to take notes. There are some books that make that task easy – stop after each chapter and assess it; and others where I can’t stop long enough to take notes. This falls into the second category. While the chapters act as “stop” points – the plot and pacing are too addictive to just “stop”, even at the stop points. The story literally begins before the beginning.
The bad guy has a great set-up here – hide in “plain” sight. A pun if you will. Instead of hiding in public, he hides within the “plain” community. There was one point I was beginning to wonder if the bad guy didn’t have a finger in someone’s law enforcement pie since the guy kept getting away.
I could see that Adam was conflicted before he saw Katie. This was due to his own family’s past. I would’ve liked to have seen reconciliation with one family member at the end; however that might be where the author picks up or goes next. But, as soon as he met Katie, the conflict deepened. And, I do believe that hindered him in some aspects. But, it also aided him in others. For that I deeply enjoyed his character, and I adored Katie’s simplicity. I also adored the fact that while she had lost her husband, she was entertaining some feelings for Adam.
I think his faith was there, but buried with doubt and resentment. So, when he saw how Katie handled her life’s storms, he was able to tap into that. While some might see the beginning of his conversion as too quick – it isn’t as if he didn’t have ties to the community before. He did mention his grandparents.
Carver does a fantastic job with this story in keeping true to both aspects – a law enforcement investigation and the Amish “plain” life.
While the “faith” element was on a stronger side – more like Gott (God) was mentioned quite frequently, that was to be expected from someone of the Amish faith. There was no real preaching or a preachy tone throughout the novel.
I am DEFINITELY interested in the author’s Love Inspired Suspense stories and will probably (albeit very slowly) add them to my TBR list.
I don’t know if y’all know this about me yet, but I love Harlequin Love Inspired. Now, it’s been a while since I’ve read a Suspense, but when I read the plot for this one, I knew I’d love it. I love stories about siblings.

She witnessed a crime. Can an agent in disguise keep her safe? Katie Schwartz is a widow with twin girls, after searching for her reclusive brother results in a shooting and finding a cryptic message, she must rely on federal ICE agent, Adam Troyer to shield and protect her. Adam has been watching their family hunting cabin in search of a ring of counterfeiting doncments. Now Katie is in even more danger. Will Adam be able to protect and save them all? Or is this a job only for Jesus?
I find this story really exciting with tons of action and a little romance. The writing style is also really good. It’s not every day you come across a book like this one. There is also religious content in this book which only makes me happier!
As for content, I do not have a full list but this book was pretty clean.
Thanks to JustReads for a copy of this book for the tour.
