American Witch by Thea Harrison is first in the American Witch series. This world is loosely connected to Ms. Harrison’s Elder Races series.
I enjoyed meeting Molly. The world she knows is changing. And so is she. She finds herself with a power she neither understands nor wants. Can she survive learning her new reality?
Josiah has lived a long time. Vengeance fuels him. Meeting Molly isn’t part of the plan. I loved seeing Josiah change in spite of himself. Molly needs Josiah. But Josiah also needs Molly. Can he accept that need? I loved finding out as Ms. Harrison put Josiah and Molly through their paces.
This story by Ms. Harrison is full of unexpected twists and turns. The action is intense and at times unexpected. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Molly and Josiah embrace their growing feelings. Even as they fight hidden dangers. This journey Ms. Harrison takes us on is intense but also enjoyable. I am looking forward to where she will take us next.
Five Shooting Stars
I truly enjoyed this story. It was about so much more than just a witch, and while parts of it were a bit over done all in all it was a great read.
Very enjoyable story, can’t wait for the next in the series.
I’m a huge fan of Thea Harrison, and this first in her American Witch trilogy (human spin-off from The Elder Races was really good. Very entertaining, great characters, fascinating plot.
What I liked: American Witch was engaging from the start. Mary was easy to identify with, and her decisions were reasonable. I liked that the main couple had a moment of passion, but did not immediately disclose eternal love for each other. They recognized their shared desire did not guarantee a relationship would be the best for them under current circumstances.
Experiencing Mary coming into her witch powers was tense and exciting. The big battle at the end of the story shows Mary, Josiah, and other coven members are going to be a formidable force. I cannot wait to see where the rest of the American Witch series goes.
What I didn’t like: Honestly, the plot mechanics used to get Mary out of her current life was predictable to a point. The conflict with her husband, and the repercussions of their break up, I saw coming. I will say that in the end, that predictability did not matter. Watching the characters develop, and their priorities change overshadowed what little I didn’t like.
I enjoyed this book and the characters were terrific
I quite enjoyed this book, and it kept me engaged from the first page to the last even though paranormal romance isn’t normally something I read. The chemistry between the two leads was sizzling. However, the story was missing something that would’ve made it outstanding. I’m not quite sure what; perhaps some more detail on the magical elements (Molly’s magical training took up very little space, and I kinda wish I could’ve seen more of her struggles and successes in that arena). Despite that, I’ll probably pick up the next book in the trilogy when it comes out.
