“Jaw-dropping…Undeniably riveting.” —RICHARD ROEPER, Chicago Sun-Times
From 1999 to 2009, U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle recorded the most career sniper kills in United States military history. His fellow American warriors, whom he protected with deadly precision from rooftops and stealth positions during the Iraq War, called him “The Legend”; meanwhile, the enemy feared him so much they named him al-Shaitan (“the devil”) and placed a bounty on his head. Kyle, who was tragically killed in 2013, writes honestly about the pain of war—including the deaths of two close SEAL teammates—and in moving first-person passages throughout, his wife, Taya, speaks openly about the strains of war on their family, as well as on Chris.
Gripping and unforgettable, Kyle’s masterful account of his extraordinary battlefield experiences ranks as one of the great war memoirs of all time.

Riveting. This is not typically my kind of book and I can’t say that I would ever care to read it again, but it gave me insight into a topic I would not otherwise explored.
Great book
If you like realistic real life military…..
At times unbelievable, this is a stunning military memoir of actual (unclassified) events which sniper Chris Kyle participated.
I would have loved to have a happy ending.
First-rate book!
Tragic
I read the book, saw the movie, then read the book again. Excellent, excellent read.
GOOD READ
Hard to stay interested in
Great read.
Very interesting story of Chris Kyle’s life. Hard to put down. Not recommended for those who have a problem with snipers in war. Quite an insight into how wars now are fought.
I look at a man who sacrificed his soul and later his life for his country. The things he did for his country corrupted his should and damaged his life to a point he nearly lost his humanity, and just as he is finding a way back to that humanity, he is cut down by someone who was struggling with the same sort of problems.
A fascinating look at a world few of us will ever know. A sad book because you’ll probably know how it will conclude,
Daryl H,
This is a book worth reading. You’ll DEFINITELY learn from it.
Awesome read of an American hero. Couldn’t put it down.
It helps me to understand the fighting that our forces in the Middle East are engaged in. A different worlds from my experience, and it helped me to understand the problems of the mindset of the area, and the reason we are there (as the US military).
Very interesting, incredible journey and a true American story.
This is not the kind of book that I usually read, but I enjoyed it very much.
This is a fascinating book about the life of a navy seal and his job and the effects of that job. Tragic result of his efforts to help his fellow Veterans.
