It starts with a stolen kiss under an English sky, and it ends with a walk down the aisle. It starts with the President sending his best friend to woo me on his behalf, and it ends with my heart split in two. It starts with buried secrets and dangerous desires…and ends with the three of us bound together with a hateful love sharper than any barbed wire.
My name is Greer Galloway, and I serve at the pleasure of the President of the United States.
This is the story of an American Queen.more
Sexy, crazy, disturbing in spots…wow…what a ride…
This is my first Sierra Simone book. To say it was an eye-opener is an understatement. There is some serious kink in this book. Warning: do not read it in the carpool line!!
Although I wasn’t a huge fan of the main characters (they were underdeveloped in my opinion), there was enough going on to keep me turning the pages.
I must admit, I have re-read some of the scenes more than once- like I said- there is a lot going on between the three main characters.
This isn’t a love story as much as an obsession.
Simone writes a special brand of steamy sex scenes that you have to read for yourself.
Who doesn’t want to be the one woman between two men? This was modern romance at it’s finest…and intelligent on a level above others.
I’m going to keep this review short and sweet, because every second I spend writing this is a second spent away from reading Book 2 LOL
First of all, Sierra Simone should write a warning for her books that says, “Be wary of reading this in front of other human beings.” Seriously. If you want to see my completely turned on and not knowing what to do with myself face, watch me while I’m reading a Sierra Simone book. It’s almost ridiculous lol.
This freaking book was great. Stellar. Fan-freaking-tastic.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, and again, MMF is one of my FAVORITE tropes. I just love the relationship between the three of them, the separate couplings between two and two and two. Sierra’s description of Greer’s feelings about seeing Ash and Embry together was PERFECT. Because honestly, sometimes jealousy can feel very similar to arousal. The way it slides and burns up your chest, tightening your ribs around your heart, as if guarding you from a blow, or preparing for one.
Second of all, I previously mentioned that I have never been particularly attached to BDSM tropes. It’s never really been my thing, only because it’s not something I’m into much in my real life, but also because I felt a lot of them were written corny, overdone and wayyy to Fifty Shades reminiscent.
Well, Sierra completely DESTROYS that notion. She came at it with a wrecking balls five times over. Man oh man, does this chick know how to write hot as fuck alpha Doms, and the give you every single buzzing thought, feeling and emotion that runs through a Submissive’s mind and body. Some of the scenes are things I never thought would spark my curiosity, but when it’s being written by Sierra Simone, I throw all prior formed opinions to the wind! Bitch, she makes crawling sexy. How??!
She has such a way with words. She’s instantly hopped to the top of the list of my all-time favorite authors ever, because of how amazing, raw, and captivating her storytelling is. How descriptive she is without overdoing it, how she makes you feel everything the characters feel with nothing but written words, is nothing shy of astonishing.
Ok. I said I was going to keep this short but it’s not in my blood, obviously. I know it’s taken me a longgg time to read this series, after YEARS of it being recommended to me as one of the best taboo MMF’s of all time. But I’m still playing catch-up on a lot of fantastic reads I missed out on in the last few years, while I was writing my own books and reading less than 20 books a year.
Now I’m back into reading for research mode, and I had to start with Sierra. She’s an inspiration to taboo romance authors. I can’t WAIT to launch into American Prince. It’s already queued up in my Kindle app for the ride home. Embry gave me LIFE in this book, and I need to know what happens next with an unbearable itch inside me.
I just know Sierra’s going to crush me with this series. And I’ll be loving every spare moment of it.
Three sexy sets of applause for Sierra Simone and the beginning to the famous New Camelot Series!
A great book!
Masen, Embry & Greer have an amazing love and a roller coaster of heart ache. Even though it breaks my heart what they go through for each other, I still couldn’t put it down. Lots of twists and turns.
Well what can I say…mmm…not what I expected but WOW. It certainly had me glued to every page. This was most definitely a guilty pleasure and I would definitely read the rest. And if you are open enough to just imagine the circumstances and love these three share for each other it all makes sense to come to the decision they have. I don’t want to spoil anything. It’s not something you would read everyday or hear everyday for that matter but I found it to be real and quite sad actually. I enjoyed all three characters.
Unrealistic, but well-written. It’s an alpha 3-some…and she is degraded a lot. Not my thing.
I LOVED THIS BOOK! And you will too. Here’s why.
The Premise (From Goodreads): “Warned as a girl to keep her kisses to herself, Greer Galloway disobeys twice–once on her sixteenth birthday as she’s kneeling in a pool of broken glass, and another time after a charming stranger named Embry Moore whisks her into the dazzling Chicago night. Both times she falls in love, and both times her heart is broken beyond repair. And so as an adult, she vows never to kiss—or to love again.
“That’s until the Vice President of the United States shows up at the university where she teaches, and asks for one thing: for her to meet with the hero-turned-President Maxen Colchester. Maxen, the soldier who was her first kiss in that pool of broken glass.
“And the other complication? The Vice President is none other than charming Embry Moore himself.”
This trilogy is inspired by the stories of King Arthur, Queen Guinevere, and Sir Lancelot, but as you’ll see it’s a very original story. AMERICAN QUEEN is the first in the Trilogy, with American Prince and American King following.
The story is intricate and has levels, so, the progression of the central romance is not the only thing that keeps you turning pages. But the romance was more than enough.
Good golly Miss Molly this was scorching! Anything Sierra Simone is NSFW (Not Safe For Work), but this is next level NSFW. I wouldn’t even attempt to read this on my lunch hour & try to come back to work. This is a graphic, open-door, BDSM erotic romance with a non-traditional couple. Basically, this is Sierra Simone’s niche.
Of course, there are also elements of mystery, political intrigue, and there’s one element of social commentary that I am especially proud of. During one scene, Greer points out the obvious difference between a couple in an abusive relationship and her own relationship—consenting and loving. Many people when they don’t understand something, they think negatively about it. A BDSM relationship when done right is not abusive or an excuse to be abusive. I’m glad that Sierra Simone points this out.
About the characters: For some reason, I wanted to hate everybody. These are people who on the outside have it all—money, power, fame. But I couldn’t hate Embry, Ash, and Greer. I didn’t really get a book boyfriend here or a favorite couple, I was more fascinated by them. It’s kind of like when I’m watching a where-are-they-now kind of show about a celebrity. Or a 20/20 episode where they go behind the scenes of famous people. It’s intriguing and fascinating, and you appreciate whatever they went through. In the end, the hatred went to the right people, I think. Either way, the story will leave you wanting to get part 2 ASAP!
Didn’t care for this book as much as I though I would. It is just to unrealistic and even though she is very smart she really is stupid about him
Absolutely loved American Queen!!! This is book grabbed my attention and I could not put it down! It is HOT… it is STEAMY…it is EMOTIONAL!!! I can not believe I had not read this series yet. I can’t wait to continue reading this story in book 2, American Prince!!
Such a wonderful new telling of an old story. Enjoyed this series from beginning to end. The characters were delightful and fresh with the perfect twist from the author made this a new classic.
Loved it!
If you’re okay with cliff hangers and having to purchase the next book to hopefully find the ending, this you may like this book. For me, there wasn’t enough story. It would have been steamy, if there was more to the story line — again that’s my take on the story.
Hot and hotter
Not one for threesomes… but this book… well let’s just say it did the deed to make you feel hot and conflicted and definitely wanting for more
The ending was ridiculous, but it intrigued me enough to buy the sequel. Which was ludicrous in many ways. Did not buy the 3rd…..
If you like your erotica with an edge, this is the book for you. There’s a twisted element to the story that I simply couldn’t wrap my head around. It ends on a cliff-hanging note, so be prepared to order the next installment. I recommend it only with reservations.
Enjoyed the behind the scenes thinking and the characters were deep in some areas. Other areas no. It caused me to have a hard time putting the book down and I guess that’s what reading is all about! Didn’t like the ending, never like a cliffhanger! Am I reading the next book in the series, don’t know yet, still mad the cliffhanger!
I can’t put the book down!
