They say that every tragic hero has a fatal flaw, a secret sin, a tiny stitch sewn into his future since birth. And here I am. My sins are no longer secret. My flaws have never been more fatal. And I’ve never been closer to tragedy than I am now.I am a man who loves, a man whose love demands much in return. I am a king, a king who was foolish enough to build a kingdom on the bones of the past. I … the past. I am a husband and a lover and a soldier and a father and a president.
And I will survive this.
Long live the king.
American King is the third and final book in the New Camelot Trilogy
more
Sierra Simone writes with a brutal honesty that turns empathy into a weapon and desire into a curse — and the only salvation. American King is a masterpiece that explores power in its rawest form, snaking into your heart and mind, leaving you spent and breathless long after the book has taken you places inside yourself you didn’t know existed.
Best Read of 2017
AMERICAN KING is of the most gut wrenching novels I’ve read in a long time. The writing is superb. The complete story through the three books is epic. However Ash’s story reduced me to tears from the very start.
I am surprised to have been so shattered by the tragic love story of Embry and Ash. Even at their first debate after being politically raked over the coals by Embry, Ash’s first contact with him in two years is to whisper in his ear “I love you little prince” as they come to the stage. Cue the waterworks.
There is no way to describe fully the emotions their story evokes or how the ending makes me feel without revealing some of the best parts. I won’t forget it for a very long time.
This is a wonderful ending to the series! I loved it and the ending is wonderful!
“Once upon a time, there were two warriors who loved the same woman as much as they loved each other. And everything that happened afterwards led inevitably to tragedy.”
The ancient , Arthurian tale may have faded on the onion pages , but it gains immortality again on Sierra’s Watch. Her romantic heart imbues fresh, and must I mention kinky, life into the legend.
You will feel the monarchical grandeur, sift through smoke and scars and crave at the Three Cornered Heart , that is the foundation of New Camelot.
The King himself , Maxen Ashley Colchester, is larger than life , his control and sovereignty absolute and it’s an honour to kneel for him, beside him, in between his legs. He has constitution of a natural Leader, his soul brave as a soldier and his Heart as big as the mountains .
Protector. Provider. Prevailer
Ever since he pulled the Sword from the rock in the fair,he is The Chosen One. His life filled with of violent turmoil and incessant burden .
But God never gives us more than we can bear . Ashley has wider shoulders and solid mettle than mere mortals
“The most important part of wearing a crown and using a sword is knowing when to set them down.”
There’s Greer . Swan Graceful , Regal in demeanour and Natural submissive to her King. Her unquestioned Loyalty and love makes her the ultimate Guinevere . She’s the perfect woman created to embrace the complexed relationship. Her reserved Beauty and Resilient Elegance making her a prized Diva and both Ash & Embry feel honoured to gain audience in her heart.
No one is beautiful like Greer, no one else has that same combination of regal poise and secret knowledge and fragility and joy. Electric and otherworldly woman
Then there’s Embry Moore. The Youth Icon. The petulant , stubborn , rebel of a Prince. Ash’s Little Prinec . At the receiving end of abundant love and uninhibited adoration. His soul belongs to Ash, his Heart to Greer. How divine must it be ,to be love embraced so envelopingly!!
what happens between the three of us is unspoken, navigated spontaneously and in the moment, but there are always certain roles we magnetize to. Greer, the compliant. Ash, the master. Me, the mood-ring of a lover, shifting and changing depending on the day, the hour, the minute.three of us are thoughtless, reflexive beasts, joined so elementally that there’s no separating us. We are one, we are one, and my body burns and sings with the truth.
The peripheral characters lend balance and support throughout. Merlin is by far most intriguing , he’s the actual narrator and Foreteller. Carrying enough burden for 7 lives, he is the moral compass of the story. Appearing at crucial junctures, he never assumes control but is always in control. The time follows him , he’s that immortal !!
The story is Beyond Expectations Brilliant. The Chalice of Emotions, full to the brim, runneth over !!
I went through a myriad of feels, from frustrations , to anger, to Arousal to love to heartbreak, to betrayal and landed up numb. Because reading the book will steal all your breaths and tears . And then some !
Couple of times , actually more , my heart just stopped. No heart beat, no life, just silent stillness. I had to step away periodically to catch my breath and let the oversurge of sentiments just seep in before I poured more. My heart and soul both are so saturated with immense love .
Sierra writes with such Literary Expertise, that words of passions and affections touch you physically. You can feel the goosebumping tenderness, the worshipping Love and ultimate surrender of Devotion , on your skin, in your body, in your heart and in your soul !!!
The words just jump off the pages and nestle in your subconscious, you forget you’re reading a story, instead you start living it and breathing it. You can feel the cold wet soil of Carpathia on your knees, or broken shards of glass on your finger, or chilling calm of a fog engulfed lake.
You will feel it all
You will see it all
You will sense it all
because you, like me are IN THE STORY
That’s how Effectual Sierra’s writing is !!
It shall be written in the scars of our hearts that Maxen Ashley Colchester is a Giant among men , Divine Love among impudent lovers and Majestic Arthur among subjects
When he says kneel , we kneel
When he asks for devotion and Obedience , we say……..
Yes Sir, I promise
Thank you Sierra for your gift of writing, narrating and casting a spell on us with your timeless words.

Hmm
I have been thinking about the review as I got closer to the end of the book not sure what to say. I enjoyed it. It made me think about how history repeats itself. Or at least literature does.
I enjoyed the characters. At times I didn’t understand them, or was angry with them but I also cried and enjoyed their passion too.
Part of the way through the reading I realized the story needed to end tragically. I almost didn’t want to finish reading. I could have used a littl less repetitiveness, or historic comparisons but still a wonderful read.
I loved the triad and the ending.
Holy hotness! This whole trilogy had me on the framing edge the whole time!!! I think it’s a wonderful retelling of the King Arthur story. And really freaking hot! I don’t know as much about the Camelot stories, but I really liked this version of it.
Ash and Embry after “rivals” through this part of the story. And yet they still can’t seem to stay away from each other. And Greer is like the icing on the cake. I felt gutted in each one of three books… But this one was absolutely the finale…. I cried for half the day! Over the span of multiple chapters I was crying like a baby!
I can’t even say how much I loved this book (trilogy) without getting obscene and annoying. I’m glad I waiting to start this journey until all the 3 were published. I might have been any between releases otherwise. But I think everyone needs to read this now. I understand what the hype was… And I totally agree!!!
I finished American King last night. I actually started it right when it came out but stopped after 20%. I was just crying too hard and was so afraid of the ending. When I was teenager, I was a big Arthurian fan and read most of the books Sierra mentions in her afterword. I just wasn’t in the right frame of mind for a heartbreaking ending that I know goes hand and hand with Arthurian legend. I will warn now, this book really cannot be read as a standalone. To get the full impact, you must read American Queen and American Prince first.
However, yesterday. For some reason, I was okay to go on the emotional journey that is American King. It could have been that I was feeling emotional and knew that I needed to read a book that would make me sob. And it did. Oh god, it did. I think I sobbed straight through the last 15% of the book. Reading the last chapters was difficult because I couldn’t see through my tears. I finished the book surrounded by gross, used tissues, and through bloodshot eyes from my tears.
I loved it and I hated it. I hate it because the story of Ash, Embry, and Greer was so heartbreaking and difficult to read and totally worth every single tear. I hate it because it’s done and know I have leave New Camelot and face real life. I loved it because it was what the Arthurian legend needed. A story where Lancelot and Guinevere don’t cheat on the noble King Arthur but actually all three love each other so passionately. This story translated so well to modern politics and love, it was just amazing. Of course, I had still had issues like how can Greer, a medieval historian literally writing a book about Arthurian legend, not see the Arthurian parallels in her life such as knowing someone like and named Merlin and her husband having a child with her sister. However, the small issues do not take away from the overwhelming beauty of love between Ash, Embry, and Greer. This book was such a hard read and yet totally worth it. Without spoilers, Sierra Simone has expertly adapted the Arthurian legend for a modern audience and created a believable ending for this romance novel. I’m honestly out of words right now. Just stock up on tissues, stop everything else, and read Sierra Simone’s New Camelot series.
* Book 3 of New Camelot Trilogy *
After reading from the perspectives of our Queen & Prince, it’s time for our King’s version.
I was super excited going into this last book in this trilogy to see how it was going to end. I felt like I kind of new what to expect as far as how the story was going to drag on because of the other 2 books. With that being said, I DONT KNOW WHAT THOSE LAST 3 chapters were on about When I tell y’all I was so caught off guard because it just wasn’t making sense to me and it was kinda giving fantasy hence the confusion.
Without spoiling too much, I think that the way it ended was the only way it could have because there was just no other ending that would’ve been sufficient enough.
Contents: Told from the p.o.v from Ash, Embry & Greer as well as chapter from the p.o.v of a special character.
Audio Review from 2018
Overall this story was a slow and steady telling of how Ash came to be who he is today. Don’t listen to this expecting a fast paced romance.
It’s powerful and heady and sweet and sexy and steamy. A great listen!
The last debate in the story was insane! The swearing in ceremony was beautiful and touching.
The post swearing in trip! For THEM!! (and you won’t understand this until then end of the book and I don’t want to spoil it.)
And then THE ENDING!!!! And the last bit of the epilogue has me laughing and smiling!
Tears and shock and just WOW!
I never thought about reading a book with a throuple but I read a lot of good reviews about that series and I got interested. I also love Sierra’s books so why not.
It’s a really an amazing read; I liked the story and Sierra is always amazing with the development of the characters and the story. Greer, Ash and Embry really complement each other.
As I started Book 3 of the New Camelot Series, I wasn’t sure it could get any better. But Sierra Simone delivered. This book provides even more insight into the lived of Greer, Embry & Ash. Such an intense story that has crushed me. I love these characters so much and I’m really sad to let them go. I will definitely be re-reading this series in the future
I cannot tell you how much I loved this book. I am always going to regret the way that I have read this trilogy. I devoured American Queen almost two years ago and I know from re-reading my review just how much I enjoyed it. It has taken me until now to finally read American Prince and American King and although I didn’t feel quite as enthusiastic about Embry’s book as I did with Greer’s, Ash’s story has more than made up for it.
I will forever be thankful to Ash for allowing me to see parts of him that no-one else sees. He is always so dominant and in charge of situations and indeed in control of everyone close to him, that witnessing those moments when he showed us his heart, made me fall in love with him even more. I wish that all Presidents were like him – I can imagine the world being a much better place for it. However, I will never forgive him for putting me through the emotional wringer during the last quarter of the book. OMG that part of his story was brutal at times, and it has taken a few hours for my blotchy face and puffy eyes to return to normal having cried throughout those final few scenes.
American King has been a fabulous conclusion to this gripping series. The whole series has been filled with love, emotion, intrigue, betrayal and heartache. I can’t not mention the passion that we have witnessed throughout too. I have loved observing the dynamics of the relationships between Greer, Ash and Embry and the sexual side has been as hot as Hades!!
I would recommend this series to you without hesitation if you enjoy MMF reads. I thought that on the whole that the author wrote this series brilliantly.
P.S. I have already forgiven Ash for causing me to ugly cry. Those scenes that ripped me apart were perfect….. worth every tear!
This has been a truly enjoyable trilogy. There were several times I really wondered how the author would bring this story to a close and if I would like the way she did that. But I shouldn’t have worried because I absolutely loved it.
This final book was told mostly from Ash’s POV. This isn’t the first story I’ve read that was about a triad but this was definitely the most complicated one. Greer, Embry and Ash make up a truly amazing throuple. This author was very talented in creating each character and writing them in a way that it truly felt like I was seeing puzzle pieces cement together throughout each book. It was so thorough that as I read the last page of this story, I could feel that they truly and completely belonged with each other and only each other.
Halfway through this book, I worried that my heart might get ripped out. I approached each chapter with a little wariness but oh, how I loved the way it came to a close.
I can easily see places throughout the whole trilogy that will be uncomfortable for some readers. I personally wanted some of what Abilene dished out to be given right back to her hateful and delusional self. Now that I’ve reached the end, I see the genius in how her part of the story was handled.
I’m afraid to give away too much if I keep going so I will just encourage readers to give this love story for the ages a try especially if you are anything like me and grew up falling in love with the legend of King Arthur, Queen Guinevere and Knight Lancelot. This was certainly my favorite retelling of that timeless tale.
This is such a classic m, so much fun, so much angst and intrigue and heat and ups and downs and ins and out.
It is so gooooood, and worth all your time.
I can’t.
That’s how I’ll start this review. Because there are no other words I can say right now… No other thoughts I can put down to describe my shattered heart after reading this book. After finishing what I can firmly say without doubt or exaggeration is the best book series I’ve ever read.
I can’t tell you how even now, after thirty minutes of staring at the wall in my bedroom with tears drying on my cheeks, I’m still in shock and awe. My mind is buzzing, thoughts racing through my brain… from an ending that I wouldn’t have seen coming if you’d TOLD ME ABOUT IT going in.
This series has been around for a while, and people have been recommending it to me a lot, so there are certain spoilers you inevitably come across, willingly or not, that have you steeling yourself for what you think is to come.
Nope.
Not that. That’s not what I was preparing myself for. All the preparations in the world couldn’t have readied me for SUCH AN ENDING.
Everything I could say about this book I already said in my previous two reviews of Queen and Prince. About the writing, and the characters, and the depth of the storyline and every single subtle detail that makes it all sheer perfection. And this book was the ABSOLUTE utterly perfect ending that has engrained these characters in my mind and heart for the rest of my life. I feel very confident that this book will follow me around forever, and that notion gives me more joy than I can express to you.
Sierra Simone… All I can say is that I would KNEEL AT YOUR FEET if it weren’t considered odd or creepy but honestly I barely even care. I think it might happen next time I meet you. I mean, what else do you do for a Queen??
This book series broke me and put me back together more times than I can even fathom. From the first page in Queen to the last page of the Afterword, which had me crying just as much as the book did, by the way, I was entranced, on the edge of my seat, squealing, squirming, cursing, crying, laughing, swooning, and falling apart.
This is a series that when you finish reading it on Kindle you immediately buy all the paperbacks lol. My fellow Kindle readers, you know what I’m talking about. It’s really that level, and then some. It’s so beyond it’s like, buy several copies of each just because it’s THAT FUCKING GOOD.
Anyway, I’m rambling now. Like I said, I can’t. I just cant.
Applause isn’t enough for this series, or Sierra Simone. For you, Sierra, I will kneel, kiss you before I leave, propose to you AS MANY TIMES AS IT TAKES, lay down my life for you and everything in between.
Long live the King, the Queen, and the Prince of New Camelot.
I LOVED THIS TRILOGY. THIS IS ONE THAT I WOULD READ MORE THAN ONCE.
A phenomenal ending to an amazing trilogy! A must read. Filled with history, legends and myths. Sexy, loving and down right HOT! A roller coaster of emotions this read will put you through. I highly recommend this book.
This 3rd book of the New Camelot Series was…AB-SO-LUTE-LY AMAZING!!! Words alone can not express what I think about American King or this series! American King will honestly rip your heart out and put it back! This book is beyond words with the emotions it pulls out when you read it! This magnificent story should be read beginning with book one, American Princess and then book two. American Prince, in order to fully understand the story, but this series is definitely a MUST read!
I just can’t express enough how great this trilogy was. There aren’t enough superlatives in the English language. It’s completely brilliant.
