This could ruin everything.I was born broken, with a past full of ugly secrets and a brother doing life in prison. Not that you’d know it if you read the tabloids. According to them I’m the rock-solid guitarist for the biggest band in the world. I’m the dependable one. The steady one. The anchor. They don’t know the truth. No one knows who I am underneath, once the music is over and the lights are … the music is over and the lights are off.
No one but Darcy.
She’s my best friend. She’s my fcking savior, my light in the dark, beautiful as hell and talented as fck and every bit as broken as me.
And I f*cking yearn for her. I have for years. I see the way she looks at me, what’s behind her eyes.
I know what she thinks about alone, in the dark, because how could I not know.
It’s getting worse. Every second, every heartbeat, every moment we spend together and every secret we share makes me want her more. Even though I know that one kiss could ruin everything we have, I need her.
But to get her? I’ll risk everything I’ve got.
Always You is a completely standalone, full-length novel that’s Book Two of the Dirtshine series.

“Dreams don’t always work out.”
It was the covers that caught my attention, they are amazing. But it’s the author that keeps me coming back for more. She lured me in by feeding my #CoverLust and my #RockstarAddiction and once she got my attention, she proved to me what a talented author she truly is. I’m so glad that I found her and the Dirtshine series.
I met Trent & Darcy in Never Enough and had a sneaky suspicion they might have feelings for each other beyond their BFF status. I was thrilled to learn the next book in the series was about them. I love a good #Friends2Lovers story, don’t you? I have to warn you though, these two are tough and they don’t give in to their attraction without a fight. Not only are they both members of the band, Dirtshine but they are best friends. That’s too much to risk on a relationship that might not work out. If it failed, how would they work together afterward? Let me tell you, the wait was torture and the sexual tension was as painful for me as it was for them. I thought my Kindle was going to melt in my hands waiting for them to give in to the lust they felt for each other.
Another thing that kept me glued to this page-turner is their painful pasts. Both characters are broken, which only makes their connection more special. Their close bond allows them to be supportive of each other, they can practically reach other’s mind after spending so much time together. Even when they aren’t spending hours and hours together in the studio, on the tour bus, and on the concert stage they choose to be together in their free time. They are each other’s ‘person’ and taking it to the next level is a terrifying thought. Trust me, that doesn’t mean they don’t do a lot of thinking and fantasizing about what they want to do. But will they ever cross the line and do it?
I’ve become very attached to this little ‘band family’ and found myself yearning for them to take the leap and trust in their feelings. I enjoyed spending more time with Gavin and seeing another side of him. I confess to peeking at the synopsis for the next book, Ever After, so I already know who it’s about. I had hoped to get a taste, but alas I must wait to see how the author intends to weave that web. The line forms here…
Darcy and Trent are one of those couples that I love to read about. They’re both damaged but survivors. They’ve had tough childhoods and just as tough of a time as adults. I just want to root for them and then cry like a baby when they get their happily ever after. I love when a person sees the damage in someone and loves them anyway. This is Darcy and Trent. I do wish I had read book 1 first. I feel like I missed out on some of their beginning but it did not hamper my love for these two. Another fabulous read from Rixie Noir.
This is the 2nd Dirtshine book and it was Darcy and Trent’s story. They are two members of the Dirtshine Band and have been best friends for several years. They are both attracted to each other, but have no idea the other feels the same. Their biggest fear holding them back, however, is that if things don’t work out, it will be weird between them and they will jeopardize their friendship.
The friendship to lovers trope is one of my favorites and Roxie does a fantastic job portraying the slow sizzle between these two. As the heat builds up, so does the sexual tension until it can no longer be contained. The passion between Trent and Darcy is so HOT! And they were so cute together, my heart melted along with Darcy’s.
But life intrudes on the little bubble of happiness they cocooned themselves in. Both Darcy and Trent have had a rough childhood and had insurmountable odds to overcome to get to where they are now. But it wasn’t without a price and the past injects itself into their private bubble causing heartbreak and chaos.
This is a story about heartbreak and survival. Of broken families and healing relationships. Of forgiveness and family. That family isn’t only blood, but hearts. About redemption and overcoming more than you ever thought you could. Of having more than you ever deserved.
The Dirtshine Books are related stories and when read in order, do have some of the characters from each book having recurring roles. However, they are standalone books with a HEA and can be read separately and in any order. I recommend this book, so far this one is my favorite. You will be a Rockstar Groupie before you know it!
Darcy and Trent are well worth the wait for these two – their story is not only undeniably heartwarming but incredibly steamy and laugh out loud hilarious! This is a story rife with sexual tension betwixt two best friends that are petrified to risk their bond on what might be. Darcy and Trent knew from the moment they met that they shared a bond that was special. They were comfortable with each other and have similar taste and personalities. This leads to them divulging their pasts and hardships with no fear of recrimination or judgement. But underneath all that friendship there was always the burning want for more… They shy away from this -scared to ruin the band and each other. Soon temptation and desire prove just too strong to deny any longer and Trent and Darcy give in and let their hearts over rule their heads. Now they will just need to learn how to manage a relationship, friendship, and the band. Darcy and Trent have always been friends and at the end of the day that is what should be at the base of every great relationship – and they are going to need that strong foundation to get the HEA they have been dreaming of since they met!
I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book.
This second in the “Dirtshine” series certainly starts off with a bang, literally. Unlike the previous book (which basically started with a former band member lighting things on fire), this one starts with one of the band members on fire. That is definitely one way to get people’s attention! The rest of the story mostly revolves around Darcy’s recovery, and Trent’s tending to her. Although it’s really more about the way in which their relationship morphs from being the best friends that they are to becoming the couple that they both want to be but are afraid to attempt.
There’s a lot of nitty-gritty stuff here about issues of abuse, drug addiction, and the like; although mostly in regards to other people around them, or from their own pasts instead of the present. Both Darcy and Trent have major issues from their childhoods to overcome, and it takes an awful lot of time, some setbacks, and lots of work for them to do so. But the end result is definitely worth it!
It’s enjoyable to see the little bit that we do of Gavin and Marisol in this tale, to learn how their relationship and story is progressing as well. I didn’t find this volume quite as intriguing as the first one in the series, but it was very good nonetheless.
Roxie you total knocked it out of the park. Total loved Trent and Darcy story. There chemistry was HOT. A must read, I highly recommend this book, I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy
AWESOME
Roxie Noir will always be known for her ability to grab a reader, introducing them to these amazing characters and fully immerse the reader in their world. This was another outstanding example of her amazing writing ability.
This is a friend’s to lover’s story and has so much depth and heart that I was still buzzing from it the next morning. Trent and Darcy have been best friends and fellow band mates for years. They have developed an amazing relationship of honesty, harmony, passion, and humor. They fit together, tell each other everything, and are bound to be together. As a reader, you can feel the intimate moments they share, be it a fun loving conversation or a look from across the stage.
This story has everything that a reader needs to fall in love with the characters. It has heart: loving relationship between to people who have struggled throughout their entire loves. It has torment: in the form of dealing with family members who do not necessarily want love or help and the emotional toll that takes on a person. It has humor: I mean it is a Roxie Noir novel, enough said. It has heartbreak: as one learns that you cannot save everyone, and that just because there is outrage doesn’t mean that love is over.
If you as a reader are on the fence about this story, I strongly encourage you to take a chance; it is an amazing story and will hit all of your ‘buttons.” If you have never read a Roxie story before, get ready for a great ride. This story will become the gateway to your new author addiction. It is worth it, I assure you.
After enjoying the first book (Never enough) in this series very much, I was looking forward to this story and the writer Roxie Noir didn’t disappoint me. I enjoyed this book just as much as the first one. (I think it’s possible to read this story without reading the first book but to fully understand the background of the band I would suggest that you read ‘Never enough’ first.)
Just like in ‘Never enough’ the story is told from both POV’s. I like that very much. Although there are some ‘sensitive’ themes mentioned in the book, I didn’t find it a dark book. The writer has a special way of writing what makes that this series is a mix of everything, Darcy is this sassy, bad mouthing, tough girl but still a loyal friend and Trent is this silent guy who hides an explosive temper but who also can be very gentle with the right person. Both had their faults but they were just perfect for each other.
I like the story very much and I’m looking forward to reading more books of Roxie Noir.
Fire Extinguishers
An exceptional read from an exceptional an unique romance master writer.
No matter what is happening in my life or my “book life”, I always make time to read the new releases from Roxie Noir. In doing so, I am always rewarded with a lovely, down to earth and yet “stuff of the stars” romance that lives in mind long after the reading is done. This book was utterly amazing!!! and no exception. This is Roxie Noir reaching another level with her unique voice and authentic emotional romantic portrayals.
The characters, Darcy and Trent, are rock musicians and in this read I could hear the music in the writing. Ohhhh! I love that!!!
In this backdrop of the rock world, the band, “Dirtshine” and their recent rise to super fame, Darcy and Trent have been long-time “besties”.
The reader is able to sense the complex and rising temperature of the chemistry happening between Darcy and Trent. Do they dare risk their easy going BFF relationship for something more?
After an incident on stage in which Darcy is hurt badly, Trent needs to tend to her wounds and we feel his desire for Darcy barely held in check. He does not know how Darcy feels much the same way. There is an exciting and believable rise in tension that has the readers heart on tether hooks!
To complicate matters both, Darcy and Trent, are damaged and therefore emotionally flawed in a real relate-able way. (Is it not true that we all are emotionally flawed in some way?) Their respective background causes Darcy to be emotionally distant and afraid of abandonment and Trent to be haunted by an explosive rage disorder. Valiantly they both try for each other…try to soothe each other…listen to each other…try to save each other and ultimately love each other in all ways. Of course being all to human, heartbreaking mistakes are made which adds depth to these characters and the story told. After all, rage burns hot…and…fear is a fever.
“He puts out my fires — literally — and I put out his, and it’s the way it’s been for a long time and the way it’s going to be.” – Darcy
Along with this heady emotional tension is some spot on, absolutely delightful, LMAO moments. And don’t get me started on the earthy, sexy, pulse-pounding hot, hawt, hot erotic love scenes. Again Ms. Noir has an unique voice when it comes to crafting these beautiful and moving vignettes. All the “shivers”…all the “feels”. My my my…
All in all, “Always You” is the “real deal” and everything a reader asks for from a life-enriching romance.
I loved it!!!
Darcy and Trent story is Best friends to lovers story and it’s great!! Both of them have a terrible pasted that will make you sad and mad.But they overcome it and find true love. Can’t wait to read more from Dirtshine!!
I’m in love with this series. Another amazing and steamy romance from Roxie. I was so happy to read this early and was not disappointed. Darcy and Trent have become one of my favorite book couples to read about. If you haven’t read this series or any books by Roxie, you are totally missing out. I really did not want this book to end. Can’t wait to read more.
Two main characters with tough, tragic and horrifying pasts that could have crushed them. Friends-to-lovers written sensitively with intense sexy moments. Trent & Darcy are in a rising band, Dirtshine, in the midst of its worst year ever for all the band mates.
I love Roxie’s romances because she makes an effort to avoid the obvious tropes and cliches in the sub genres she writes in. And her characters, no matter how outrageous, have a realistic feel. They’re *people*, and for a romance writer, ANY writer, that’s high praise.
Read the first book in the Dirtshine duology. You’ll be glad you did.
