Enjoyed reading this book. I love reading Lynette Eason’s books. I can’t put them down once I start reading them.
Kept me guessing
An exciting read. Great women characters.
I love Lynette Eason’s writing. She always takes me for a thrill ride with her strong heroines. In her latest book, Always Watching, it is a first book in her new series entitled Elite Guardians. With Eason’s book, I know there will be strong characters, a slight love interest, and non-stop action. If it is even possible, I think Always Watching is one of her best books written so far.
Getting to know the characters and watch them interact is one of the major reasons I enjoy getting lost in a novel. Olivia, the bodyguard, is the type of heroine every woman should admire. She is strong but has flaws that make her totally relatable. I instantly empathized with her and couldn’t wait to learn more about her as the novel progressed. Wade, the hero, is a single father who will do anything to protect his almost thirteen year old daughter, Amy. He puts her safety above his own on a number of occasions. This makes his a hero worth pining after. Plus, it doesn’t help that he is handsome.
In order for me to completely lose myself in a novel, I have to enjoy the twists and turns. And there needs to be a lot of them. In suspense and thrillers, they should be non-stop. Eason knows this, and in Always Watching she does a great job at keeping me on my toes. I didn’t want to put down the book even thought my body kept telling me it was time to go to sleep. It was a thrilling plot with lots of chapters ending in a moment of panic, which made me flip to the next chapter to see what happens.
Just like I enjoy my books.
The romance should be pretty downplayed for me. Eason does that. Yes, there is moments where Wade and Olivia question why they are feeling emotions for each other, but not too much to classify this book as a romance book.
Always thrilling, Lynette Eason’s newest book, Always Watching got my attention in the first couple of chapters and did not let go. I didn’t even guess who the bad person was. I had ideas, but they were proven wrong. Good job! I highly recommend this thrill ride for lovers of suspense and mysteries.
I received a complimentary copy of Always Watching from Lynette Eason and Revell Publishing and the opinions stated are all my own.
loved the premise of this story but the women bodyguards were disappointingly inept. Wade ended up defending himself which I found annoying. The daughter was annoying. I wanted to care about the characters but didn’t
very entertaining keeps you attention and has some surprises.
A great read!
I couldn’t put the book down. There were surprising twists.
Ahh… The suspense! Nail biting and page turning from beginning to end. This was a story that stuck with me long after it ended. I really enjoyed that there wasn’t one clear suspect for Wade’s stalker. I bounced back and forth trying to figure out who it was. 4 1/2 Stars – Full review at my website.
I received this book complimentary in a giveaway. I was not required to give a review. All of the opinions I have expressed here are my own.
I loved this suspense so much that I hated it when I had to stop reading to sleep!
Always Watching is the first book in the Elite Guardians series. The suspense started right away with Wade having a stalker. The suspense never let up. It kept on going when his bodyguard was attacked and hospitalized. When Olivia took the bodyguard’s place she realized they weren’t dealing with a typical stalker. There was constant action in this book and I never knew what was going to happen next.
I liked that Wade and Olivia weren’t perfect. Both had issues that came out as the story progressed. Wade’s 12-year-old daughter was a good addition. Like most girls that age, she didn’t like being told what to do by the adults. It wasn’t fair. There was an attraction between Olivia and Wade but they knew they couldn’t act on their feelings until the case was over.
The ending was surprising, and there were a lot of edge-of-your-seat twists and turns leading up to it.
I haven’t read anything by this author before but she is now one of my favourites.
I’m on a suspense fiction kick and Lynette Eason just added fuel to the flame. My copy of Always Watching appeared in our mailbox on Friday. The timing was perfect because we were just leaving on a road trip. Now I’m not the fastest reader, so it’s saying a lot when I tell you that I’ve read this book in two days. I couldn’t put it down. It was fast-paced. Engaging. Entertaining.
Always Watching is the first book in a new series based on a team of specially trained female bodyguards. Investigative and surveillance skills, bomb detection, brains, and daring — this team of women has it all. With 10 years of military service myself, I applaud women who take on non-traditional roles and pull them off with professionalism and finesse.
If I’m right, each book in the Elite Guardian Series will focus on a different team member. Clearly this was Olivia’s story by design, but I would have enjoyed a little more interplay/camaraderie among the team members. On the flip side, the author’s intense focus on one character allowed for dynamic development both emotionally and spiritually. Perhaps as the series progresses, the team itself will be as compelling as each individual member.
As a new-to-me author Lynette Eason has earned a spot among my favorite suspense authors like Ronie Kendig, Lisa Harris, and Dani Pettrey. What sets these authors apart is their ability to keep a thread of tension throughout a story — something Eason has done impeccably well. Another aspect of her writing that reminds me of the other authors mentioned before is her ability to propel a storyline using character dialogue. The dialogue between her characters was fluid, varied, and natural. To top it all, this book is punctuated with numerous high-action/high-suspense scenes.
I anticipate more great reads from the Elite Guardian Series and Lynette Eason. Without Warning (Book #2) releases in August and has already garnered a spot on my to-read list.

Wow! I devoured this book. Eason crafts complex, realistic characters and a high-intensity plot that will keep you glued to the page. The story has an overarching Christian worldview, and I loved the nuggets of truth the author left for us to find, such as this one: “If you open yourself up to joy, you might experience some pain along the way.” Highly recommend!
Amazing! I love the role reversal with the strong female bodyguard protecting the man. It’s not a common theme, and usually when I come across it in books (or movies), it comes across absurdly unrealistic. A woman doesn’t need be portrayed as a SUPERHERO with mad fighting skills or super powers to be a hero. Olivia was very likable. Interesting plot.
This is a fun quick read that you can really enjoy reading and getting lost in a good story
This book had me guessing as to “who done it”! I enjoyed it and it held my attention.
This is an action-packed mystery that involves women as body guards and the stalker of a radio personality. Both of the main characters have histories to overcome and a stalker to apprehend before their feelings can be explored.
I enjoyed this book/series and would recommend it.
Kept me interested
I liked this book. The characters were good especially the young girl. She was tragically heroic. I liked how the characters changed and grew in their faith and became more sure of themselves throughout the story. The ending was a little predictable, but all in all a very good read.
Loved the book !
