Always Stone (Three Rivers Station book 4) by Nan O’Berry is a sweet series about the men who rode for the pony express. Each books starts off with a letter which is unique and gives the reader the first look at the hero of the book. Danger is all around as the rider reliever mail and messages. Always Stone. The element of danger and the sweet romances of this series keeps the readers coming back for more.
I loved that Stone fell for Charity! She gets a second chance on life with a man that adores her, and he gets an incredible woman who thinks he hung the moon! A beautiful story!
I enjoy stories about the Pony Express. Handsome riders blazing the trail is hard to resist.
Stone Brown thinks he’s too smart to fall into the matrimony trap. He’s found himself in the role of protector for a presumed soiled dove.
Charity Mitchell is well acquainted with abandonment and scorn. Raised by a saloon owner after her fathers deserts her.
I enjoyed this sweet story of redemption. I could sense the camaraderie of the rider brotherhood. The friendship of the wives is beautiful. The community of Three Rivers is wonderful.
I really wanted to like this story more than I did. The grammatical errors and typos made me think this story wasn’t examined enough before going to print. If you can get beyond these errors, it’s a good read.
I won a paperback copy from the author. All views expressed are my honest opinion.
Charity is a saloon girl which has given her a reputation that is frown upon some of the locals but is warmly welcomed by others. She chooses to conduct herself as a lady and is a very caring young woman. She is on her way to redemption and starting over in a new career. Stone is a rider for the pony express and is dependable, hard worker, and protective. The express riders route is becoming more dangerous as trouble is brewing between the Indians and the ranchers. A sense of unease and a threat of an uprising is in the air. This is a sweet series and I look forward to each addition. Former riders and their wives all make appearances. Levi Hawkins who runs the Pony Express and his wife Olivia Hawkins are wonderful parental figures to the riders and ensure their safety & health. I would’ve like to see more focus of the main couple together. Always, Stone leaves you with the sense of upcoming danger to the pony express and changes to the town. A hint of a romance blooming between young Anna and rider Brett. Overall an enjoyable read and good addition to the series.
Charity is taken in by Saloon owner Laiden McMasters, when her father goes missing. She learns to deal cards and sling drinks to customers in the saloon environment. Charity is a girl who has a heart of gold and likes to help those in need, an overall good spirited girl. She meets Stone, a Pony Express mail delivery driver and becomes smitten with him. Stone is also smitten with Charity and wants to protect her. This story has wonderful characters, a little faith, some romance and a little intrigue as well.
