One day I was be-bopping along jamming to the music in my head while wondering if my thighs could handle grabbing a cupcake on the way home. The next thing I knew, my entire world crashed and burned.I used to wake up at night in a sweat, crying because I’d dreamt my husband was cheating on me, or he hated me, and resented our kids. He’d always hold me close and tell me it was all just a dream, … a dream, that he loved me and our family and he’d never let us go.
He was a f*cking liar.
Now I spend my days taking photos of scum just like him, trying to be a champion for others who are being taken advantage of by the losers in our town, and my nights being a single mom to my beautiful twins.
I’ve got great friends who always have my back and a sexy, mysterious motorcycle man who keeps showing up when I need him. Things are finally starting to look up. And one thing’s for sure… There’s always room for cupcakes.

I liked to story line. And need to read the next in the series.
The main character is smart and resourceful. Sometimes getting the shot is really a challenge. Throw in a hot biker boyfriend and a BFF that gives you cupcakes when your stressed, feeling down, or just plain need one!
Very fun read.
makes you want to grab a cup cake a time or two more like through the book with the main character. loved how she went through some of the tougher times in her life. I just wanted to reach out and hug her. but smack to old ex. can’t wait to read the next one.
will absolutely read more in the series. finished in record time. super delightful and fun filled read. great characters.
Laughed every few pages. Totally relate to cupcake fixes. Loved it wasn’t happily ever after but a relationship takes work style of romance
I loved this book and immediately read the next 3!
A perfect beginning to this series! The twists in this book will keep you so entertained you will not be able to turn your headphones off! I loved this book as well as this couple and can’t wait for more in this series.
This was my first book written by Bethany Lopez as well as my first narration from Stephanie Garner, and I have to say both were amazing. The book is a romantic suspense, but has a mostly fun comedic side to it. There are times when Lila the lead character is in danger, but she mostly seems unaware of it for the most part, getting her into all sorts of situations. I’ve just grabbed the next book in the series, and can’t wait to see what she manages to stumbleupon next.
Lila, caught her husband of 10 years with another woman. In a moment of shock she took pictures for proof and ended up sharing the pictures with the whole town. This lead to her becoming a photographer for a PI, she took pictures of cheating spouses in the act. Until the boss Moose takes on a client that lands them all it some hot water.
This book should have it’s own genre- I’ll call it Romantic Thriller. Lila holds her own she’s witty and her life is interesting to say the least. Her job assignments keep you on edge while her love life keeps you wanting more. Lila is easy to connect with she’s divorced and focused with building a new life for her children, she wasn’t looking for love but she found it when she needed it the most.
What a nice surprise this book was (and there is a follow up book too). Such a fun and entertaining story about a regular mom who finds herself pursued by a motorcycle riding hunk. It’s funny and engaging.
this was good. I absolutely loved Lila because she was real. You could picture yourself in her life, feel what she felt, and totally agree with her thoughts. She was flawed and had been hurt. She persevered because she’s a mom and loves her kids. How she has dealt with her ex is commendable. Neither of my divorced parents ever acted anything but angry and bitter when we were with them. She thought bad shit and she said it to his face, but she didn’t bring her kids into it. I liked that. I am still on the fence about Cade though.
The 10-year old watching porn big gloss over. that is not actually healthy at age ten (I was a child psych major) and honestly that usually implies something really unhealthy about the child. then again 11-year-olds are getting knocked up on purpose nowadays so I guess this just goes along with that in mind.
I do hope the series ends in happily ever after for Lila but Cade is basically an enforcer and I would never let my kids anywhere near that no matter how much he said it wouldn’t touch them. As a mom, I could honestly say no amount of money/physical attraction/ or anything else would make me even consider it. I know her job as a PI isn’t always safe but it is legal at least. And hopefully she is more careful in jobs she takes after this scare.
How is this character not diabetic??
Great book! Very sexy!
Two duelling Chefs? What could be better in this delightful, funny and heart warming story with a HEA to leave you feeling good. I loved the two protagonists and their thoughts. The description of food they eat is mouth watering. I recommend this book to all lovers of romance and good food.
After reading a criminal investigation series with little romance and no steamy scenes, I was ready for a change in genre.
This book as a strong, independent heroine, a MC hunk hero, loyal girlfriends, drug lords, and cupcakes. I was enjoying the storyline, the sexy scenes, and a few laughs, and then all sudden it turns violent. I wasn’t expecting that, nor did I like it. I am torn if I will continue the series are not.
Harmless light read.
This was my first book by this author….and it just wasn’t for me. There were a few lol moments, but I just couldn’t get into this book and the characters.
Overall, it was okay, but don’t think I’ll continue with this series.
Couldn’t stop at one had to keep reading!
Predictable. Raunchy
I went in to this book not really knowing what to expect. I didn’t read the synopsis, but I’ve read other books by Bethany, and I loved the title, so I figured I would give it a go.
Always Room for Cupcakes is the first book in the Cupcake series. The shenanigans-driven plot, though over the top, made for quite a few laugh out loud moments. And while I liked the book, I don’t think I will continue with the series. Parts of the book felt a bit forced, such as the MC angle and the descriptive language/sentence structure used during the more intimate moments.
Example:
“Cade eased the straps down my arms and I felt his lips touch my shoulder ever so softly as the silky material slid down my torso, leaving my pretty purple bra exposed.”
Maybe it is me. Maybe it is my current mood.
If you enjoy a quick read filled with shenanigans and cupcakes (seriously, I need to find me some cupcakes), then pick this one up!
Lila’s life came crashing down around her when she found her husband having an affair. Determined to make it on her own and support their twins without his help, she takes a job for a PI following and photographing people. After being caught in the act of spying, Cade swoops in on his motorcycle and saves Lila from a confrontation with someone she’s supposed to be watching. Now Lila’s trying to keep her PI job quiet, be there for her kids, and learn how to navigate dating in her 30’s.
I listened to the audio of this book narrated by Stephanie Garner, who is new to me. Overall the quality of the audio was ok, the biggest issue I had was the volume changing randomly as I listened, it was subtle, but enough to be slightly annoying. Sometimes it was hard to differentiate between the characters and who was speaking, but I was able to follow the story pretty well.
The story itself was reminiscent of Kristen Ashley, dark, broody H that knows the h and has been watching her for a while while she has no knowledge of him, the MC, it all felt kind of familiar. Things between Lila and Cade progressed very quickly, so much was crammed into the almost 4 hours of audio. I don’t consider it romantic suspense, it did take a dark turn towards the end, but not entirely unexpected and that was about all. As a quick listen it was ok, I could relate to Lila in being in my 30’s and mom, it was nice that she wasn’t in college or her 20’s. I struggled with all of the name calling. I’ve never been divorced, my husband’s never had a affair, I’m sure that’s beyond devastating, I honestly don’t know if the ex-husband’s name came up before the last hour of the book, she always referred to him as “the douche” it bugged me. I understand that’s the ultimate betrayal in a marriage, but I kind of wanted to tell Lila to grow up a little. All of that was really fine, not a big deal, but not necessarily my usual style, the one thing I can not get over is the way she handled finding her 10 year old son watching porn and masturbating. It bothered me to my core. I know that kids are curious but I don’t think that’s normal 10 year old behavior, then to hand the problem off to his dad and not be involved? Maybe I’m out of touch as a mom, but I really really felt the book could have done without that scene. There are SO MANY other things that kids do that shock and can show how hard it can be to parent, this one felt a little inappropriate to me. Overall the book was ok, I’d recommend it if you’re looking for something quick with a little humor and little violence.
