All I’ve ever wanted to do was write good music and sing my heart out, but my father expects different from his eldest son. No matter how hard I try, I can’t please him and be who I really am. But everything changed the night a hot little city girl showed up at our local bar. Her skirt was tight, and her heels were high, but she was classy—a business woman. A talent agent.I couldn’t help but … agent.
I couldn’t help but notice the way she watched me as I stood on the stage, my guitar and a mic my only companions.
What did she want from me? A long night of passion?
The cold steel of the hood of my truck pressed to her back, and my warm hard body tucked against her front?
I couldn’t tell for sure, but it didn’t matter.
Outside of ranching and singing, I started to yearn for one thing… her.
David Dawson is the oldest brother of the rowdy Dawson boys, and the one his father depends on most to help run the family ranch. Unfortunately, he’s far more interested in playing music than baling hay. He plays at the local bar and gets lucky one night. A beautiful talent agent happens to be passing through the city and she’s desperate to find talent. Lucky, lucky girl. In more ways than one.
This is a stand-alone, full-sized novel in the Dawson Brothers’ series (8 books total). Each book focuses on a different brother/cousin. HEA is guaranteed, no cheating or violence.

A Captivating & Heartfelt Romance! Awesome Narration
Always on My Mind
The Dawson Brothers, Book 1
By: Ali Parker
Narrated by: Christopher Solon
I throughly enjoyed this first book of The Dawson Brothers series, it is well-written with interesting storylines that grabbed my attention right from the start and captivated it all the way to the end. The characters are likable and nicely developed as well as realistic, easy to relate to and connect with. David is the oldest Dawson brother, it is a given that he will be the one to run the ranch when his father can no longer do it himself. Music is where David’s heart is at and he dreams of becoming an accomplished musician, but he continues to be the dutiful son working on the family farm. He gets to live out some of his music dreams by performing at Kinsey’s, the local bar, some evenings. Sarah, a talent agent for a record company, was on her way to Nashville after a failed attempt to sign a new artist. She gets lost in Oklahoma and finds herself in the middle of nowhere, but she comes upon a hotel to stay in with a bar next door. After getting a room she goes for to have a drink, not exactly fitting in but she does like what she hears, the talented artist on the stage has it all, the sound and the looks and she thinks he could be the next big thing. Now she has to convince him of that, she missed the opportunity that night but she remained determined and goes to find him at his family’s ranch the next day. She is out of her element, but that does not stop her and she goes with it all and spends time with him and the two get to know each other. I loved how everything played out in this book, it is an entertaining and beautifully plotted story with plenty of drama, both relationship and family, heartfelt emotions and a steamy romance. Ali Parker, thank you for this great story and emotional rollercoaster ride, I am looking forward to hearing the other Dawson brothers stories, I hope they come to audio soon.
And for the fabulous narration, Christopher Solon is a talented narrator and voice artist. He had a complete understanding of the characters he portrayed, giving each a voice that suited that character’s persona to a tee, sounding believable in every role he played and just as I pictured the character to sound. He set the perfect tone for the story, handled all the dialogue effortlessly and without missing a beat. You could hear how much heart he puts into his work as he captured the characters’ emotions and projected them into his performance. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another awesome listen.

The Dawson Brothers, Book 1
By: Ali Parker
Narrated by: Christopher Solon
David is the oldest Dawson brother, and is expected to take over the ranch. His heart is not in it though. He loves to sing, and he performs in the evening with his band and Kinsey’s Bar regularly. Sarah is a music agent, arriving in town with a broken heart. When she hears David sing, she knows he is the entire package. Good looks and talent, she wants to get to know him better. But it’s not all business with these two. The chemistry is there and the promise of success in the future. David’s family interference causes some problems though, and now on outs, David has decided to give up music and stay on the ranch. Will things ever change? Will Sarah come back? Will his family let him pursue his dreams? The Dawson family is so much fun to get to know. The banter between the four brothers is key to the story building, letting us get to know the pecking order of them, as well as feel the closeness of the family. I love the world building this book has given the series and after enjoying David and Sarah’s journey, I am ready for more time on the ranch!
Christopher Solon gives an amazing performance with all the characters he portrayed. A slight Midwestern twang brings David his country singer feel and he easily transitions to Sarah. I enjoyed all of his different voices for the brothers and his dad, and his mother and ex! He is a wonderful storyteller and I can’t wait for more.

This is an insanely enjoyable story! It easily kept my interest with the plot, family dynamics and characters. David comes from a large family that runs a ranch. So they are all together all the time, all in each others business and really have no secrets. I loved hanging out at the ranch with this family. Actually a lot of these character (primary and secondary) had tremendous growth..which I loved. It makes the whole story come together.
I did listen to this on audio. Christopher Solon did a great job bringing these characters to life. I would love to read/listen to more from this series!
The storyline is boring and quite aggravating. I had to retract my steps a few times to make sense of what is being said and still I struggled to understand.
“You shouldn’t say things like that to your mother, Davey.”
“David, Mama, and all I meant is that every man I know that’s my age is either married or has gotten out of this town already.
David, Mama, and all I meant…
It doesn’t make sense.
I thought David’s points of view sounded like a female. Alas, I would not have known which character was speaking had the chapters not have been titled with the character names. The male protagonist is feeble and listens to his mother. I didn’t relate to the characters and will not read the accompanying books in the series. The tension the mother caused was troublesome and did not entertain me. The male protagonist is a mommy’s titi sucker but is also a presumptuous bastard.
I had heard almost that exact same speech approximately a thousand times in the year since I broke up with my former fiancée. Mama just wouldn’t let it go.
but it seemed that her “supportive mother” routine had shifted into a “please give me grandchildren” campaign sometime in the last six months.
great read. Ali does a fantastic job writing this book
Ali Parker is one of my favorite authors. I love this story! The plot was interesting and a little different. The storyline flowed smoothly throughout. What I didn’t understand is why four grown men living at home didn’t put their foot down about somethings like the “no cell phone rule”. I really didn’t understand where David’s parents were coming from with regards to his dream. I loved how David and Sarah got their HEA in the end despite the trials and tribulations they went through.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a free copy of this book….
A serial that starts by introducing the mighty Dawson Family. Hard working family orientated Ranch starts with the story of the oldest brother and his struggle to be recognised for something other than being a ranch hand. He loves music and has the voice of an angel just like his grandpa. He longs to pursue his career in music but has a commitment to his family. He has also sworn off women due to his faithless fiancée. A young woman with her own challenges comes into his life and has the capacity to turn his life around. Problems begin when they struggle to find a way to achieve both their aims without interference of the ex fiancée and family.
A great story of struggle turmoil and love finding a way
. Great story
A sweet story, great chemistry. Can’t wait to read the next Dawson book. Highly recommend
A wonderfully written story about following your dreams wherever they may lead you. David wants to be a country singer, not working on his family’s farm. Until an agent shows up on his doorstep, he never thought the impossible was possible. Now, how does he tell his family?
Sarah is a new Agent for a Prestigious Talent Agency who is on the hunt for a New Artist with Mind- Blowing Talent that will Bring in the Bacon .
When she finds David , a Country singer with old school roots , a wicked Smile and a Hot body , she knows she has to sign him or it could mean her Job .
David has wanted to be a singer like his grandfather all his life , but being a southern gentleman family responsibilities got in the way . When a Beautiful woman finds him singing in the local dive bar and promises him a recording contract. He doesn’t know what he wants more the girl or the chance to live out his Dreams of singing under those Bog Bright Lights ??
But is it possible when Family Obligations , lies ,Sketchy Bosses and Love get in the way ?
It’s been a while since I’ve really enjoyed a Beautifully Written, Country HEA Romance.
I love David , a southern Gentleman , who puts his family first and doesn’t run from his responsibilities , even if his dreams are lost because of them .They don’t make many male characters that solid anymore.
Sarah is a very sweet city girl just trying to make ends meet and winds up having to choose between her job and the man she’s fallen in love with ….. mistakes can cost you everything , even when you don’t know what you want yet .
I loved their chemistry together even during the fights & Drama ….Sexy , strait out of the gate .
This is the second book of the Dawson Brothers series, but can be read as a stand alone book. Ted, the second oldest Dawson, has to step up and take over running the farm. He hires Lauralee, the neighbor girl, who is his ex that just wants to work on her family farm but is ignored by her father as an option since she is a girl. The characters and general story line are unique from Ali Parker’s other works, yet still relatable and realistic. I don’t know how she keeps things fresh every time.
I am voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book that I received for free.
A great second chance bad boy redemption romance
