Asher was a ruthless business man. Got what he wanted and needed with no problems. Except for a piece of property owned by an artist,Emily. She would make huge changes in his life in just a short while.
This series is a spinoff of the Andrade series by Ruth Cardello. She is joined in this series, The Barrington Billionaires, by her sister, Jeannette Winters, and her niece, Danielle Stewart. Each one of these authors has written a series that can be read by itself or in conjunction with the other authors. All of the books contain interwoven characters. It’s more fun to read them together but it is not necessary.
I’ll be honest, I didn’t read the entire Andrade series before beginning this one. I read only Come Away With Me, the first in that series, which gave me a good idea of who each of the characters is and their relationship with one another. I will probably go back and read the Andrade series at some point. Right now, the Barrington Billionaires are going to keep me plenty busy.
This one features Asher Barrington and Emily Harris. Asher is a complete and total self-absorbed jerk. Emily lives in LaLaLand, but has some determination, or maybe it’s stubbornness and grit. It’s a pretty typical story, Asher is developing land and Emily won’t sell. She’s determined to complete her mother’s dream of a museum for the blind. By the end of the story, Asher has redeemed himself and come to his senses and Emily has realized that everything actually works out for the best. There’s one teeny twist at the end that causes all sorts of chaos and confusion, but it’s resolved rather quickly. All in all, this is quick, fun, and entertaining.
Asher Barrington personality is not just a plain hammer but more like a sledge hammer. He didn’t know what hit him when he met Emily. She is fire, water, and cool breeze that is a breath of fresh air that no matter what you do you can’t get it enough. She was just what what need for Asher and his family.
What a charming and sweet story. Had a good storyline with some romance. Asher and Emily have a interesting beginning to their romance.
Book one is a spectacular start to this wonderful series. With hew books in series coming soon, I’m rereading the series for a second time
Ruth Cardello has created a marvelous story with “Always Mine” (nook). The story starts with strong emptions and continues in the same manner through the end. Asher and Emily are wonderful characters who overcome several obstacles to reach their HEA. I would rate this book as higher than 5 stars if I could.
There is one minor error in Chapter 19 where it is written: “Emily slid into the back of a town car beside Emily.”
Loved this book. I kept going back and forth with which character I agreed with or related to so that in the end I wanted both of them to win.
Ruth Cardello – Barrington Billionaires — Always Mine #1
The first book in the new series is a great read. The Barrington’s is “sort of” related to the Andre’s when Patrice (Stanfield) married into Andre’s family, and her sister is Sophie (Stanfield), Barrington. While the children of the Sophie and Dale Barrington do not feel that they are related, the Andrades of course do not agree. When Victor & George Andrades, the patriarchs of the family, told Asher Barrington that it was close enough to be family.
Sophie and Dale Barrington have six (6) children (in order of age): Asher, Gram, Ian, Andrew, Lance, and Kenzi. Asher had taken his Trust fund and made an Empire. He focused on his company “first” and was considered a Hammer. His father warned him to be careful if he was a hammer, then everything will look like a nail.
Asher’s company is building a new facility and chose a small town in New Hampshire. He has purchased all homes surrounding the purchased property except one owner, Emily Harris, who will not sell. She was honoring her mother, who was a blind artist and opening a museum in her honor. Emily decided to travel to Boston and speak to Asher Barrington and inform him that she would not sell and to please consider relocating his expansion.
Asher is taken aback by the bravery of Emily when she boldly tells him what she thought of his expansion, arrogance, and high handiness and proceeded to walked out of his office. Asher is intrigued and wanted to ask her more questions, so he stopped her from leaving his offices.
Take a journey with Asher and Emily as he learns that perhaps being a hammer all the time is not in his best interest. Dominic Corsi meets with Asher and warns that Asher is on the same path as he was before he met his lovely wife. Dominic caution Asher to take stoke and see what is most important in life.
I hope that the author develops a family chart since Barrington’s three (3) authors since they are interconnected, as well as the Corsi’s and Andre’s series.
I highly recommend this book if you love a beautiful story that characters that are well developed and hot passion!
These two were something else. Emily despises Asher because he’s trying to buy her property to expand his business. Asher wasn’t budging and so was Emily which made for good reading watching the back and forth between these two but also their chemistry. Asher never hid from Emily that he wanted her and Emily lies to herself saying that she didn’t want him. He wore her down and it was sparks between these two as much as they battled on other things. Asher never saw himself as finding a long term person until Emily; she was it for him. He did everything for things to work out. These two were great for each other and great together.
4.5 Stars for Always Mine and what a great start to the new series The Barrington Billionaires.
This is Asher Barrington and Emily Harris’s story and what a great couple to begin the new series with. Asher is a man who knows what he wants and he wants Emily so he will do everything in his power to make her his the problem is Emily is not like previous women in his life she isn’t prepared to fall at his feet. Emily is determined to carry on her families legacy and when the family building she is renovating burns down its easy to blame the man who is relentless in getting what he wants Asher Barrington …..
Asher is not an easy man to like but as his story unfolds you get to see the real man who really does fall hard and fast for Emily. This is a slow burn romance and it took me a while to get into the story but I’m so glad I persevered because it turned into a great read and left me wanting more from he Barrington’s and their family and friends. Looking forward to the next book in the series,
3.5*
Emily is desperate to save her soon-to-be-opened museum for the blind. Her mother was an artist who couldn’t see but created paintings that, through feel, are extraordinary and Emily wants to share them with the world. Asher is a CEO that wants the area in Whelchton for a new factory and has bought all the land around Emily’s museum. The two face off and arrogant Asher thinks his attraction to Emily and lavish attention will get him what he wants.
This is a tough review to do because while I liked the bones of the story and especially the second half, the first half I was frustrated with both Asher and Emily. Emily’s dream to open the museum, while noble was a long risk at best because of where it is. Her determination and reasoning were admirable but she was unable to see the forest for the trees that it would not succeed, especially once Asher’s company bought everything around it. Asher too is so focused on the leaves that he misses the bigger picture. Wooing a woman doesn’t include leaving her stranded in Paris for weeks with no contact and then being surprised when she is not where you left her.
The second half of the book picks up when the two finally realize that there is more to life than their individual goals and wants. When they begin taking less for granted and listening to each other, the romance begins to blossom and make sense. Ms. Cardello added a nice bit of heat between the Asher and Emily with sexy scenes and the addition of the Corisis connection Always Mine with her other series.
4 star review of Always Mine (The Barrington Billionaires #1) by Ruth Cardello
Book one in the latest series from Ruth Cardello and is Asher Barrington and Emily Harris story.
Asher knows what he who and what he wants and he has set his sights on Emily. Both are equally determined to get their own way, neither prepared to give in.
I had a hard time relating to Asher or Emily. There were times that both frustrated me, particularly Asher as he acted like an arrogant jerk at times and Emily appeared immature at times.
The chemistry between them built as the story progressed. Although not my favourite book from Ms. Cardello it was well written.
A cute read
Loved it, loved it. Couldn’t wait to get to the end to see what happened. And it was a HEA. Good read!!!!
What a nice book. Want to read it all in one day!
I was hooked from the beginning to end. Emily and Asher’s story was well developed and the prose is good. I enjoyed reading this book
Great storyline, very enjoyable read
I did not like this book
FANTASTIC!! I want to start out by saying, I LOVE to read and I read A LOT!! That being said, I have noticed that some authors just have a keen sense of how to bring the reader in and not let go. That is Ms. Cardello’s gift!! From the first page you are hooked to this book. It was filled with hope and redemption! I loved Emily and Asher’s story! Emily is a strong women but with a softness to her also. Asher, well let me just say, he is HOT!! You really don’t want to miss out on this sexy, intriguing story. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED READ!!
Always Mine is a hot steamy romance where opposites attract and work through their complications to a happy ever after.
