At the advice of her therapist, homicide survivor Harper Reynolds has traded her job as a crime scene photographer for a more peaceful life taking photographs of the natural world. But her hopes for a life surrounded by the serenity of the outdoors are dashed when she inadvertently captures a murder being committed in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. She flees the scene in fear–and loses the camera.Former … camera.
Former Green Beret Heath McKade is a reserve deputy in an understaffed county who has been called in to protect Harper, a childhood friend he is surprised to see back in the area. When Harper learns that the sheriff’s department can’t find any evidence of the murder she witnessed, she is determined to do what she can to see that justice is done. What neither Harper nor Heath could know is how many explosive secrets from the past will be exposed–or how deeply they will fall for each other.
In this suspenseful page-turner, bestselling author Elizabeth Goddard keeps you on the edge of your seat as you discover that uncommon justice lies just on the other side of fear.

With an intense opening chapter that immediately draws you into the story, Always Look Twice ramps up the danger and mystery from the get-go. And then we find out Harper and Heath were childhood friends (and Harper may have had a little crush on said friend when she was twelve).
Both of these characters carry guilt and blame themselves for events in their past they had no control over. Neither feels like they can commit to a relationship, yet, despite their best efforts, the pull of attraction supersedes their intentions.
Elizabeth Goddard managed to keep me changing my mind about who the guilty party was, and there were a few surprises in their too. That, in my opinion, makes a memorable read.
Plus, all of the characters (even the supporting ones like Harper’s sister, Heath’s brother, and several members of law enforcement) are well-rounded and integral to the story.
Romantic suspense fans, Always Look Twice is a must-read.

I enjoyed this book very much. Harper and Heath both had very traumatic childhoods and were there for each other when they were young. Twenty years later, their paths cross again unexpectedly…and danger and trauma is involved. Each of them is strong with extremely sensitive, caring, protective hearts. They each have deep wounds and fears that were never resolved, even though they’ve become successful adults. Throughout the unpredictable and unexpected twists and turns of the story, they are forced to face their biggest fears. I appreciated that it took time and a lot of agony and courage to do so, especially since there were a lot of terrible things happening. But individually, with God’s help, as well as with each other and members of the community, they both finally found resolution and were on the road to healing. I really liked these characters a lot, and I’m looking forward to reading the last book in the series!
This was my favorite book from Elizabeth Goddard. There was so much suspense that I couldn’t put this book down. Harper and Heath are so good together. I enjoy the area they are in and love the description of the wilderness. I loved all the romance, suspense and intrigue. I received a copy of this book from the author for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.
Always Look Twice is a book that kept me mentally on the edge of my seat for much of the story. Had I not had a serious health crisis in my family that prevented me from doing so, I would have probably read it in one sitting. With a Wyoming wilderness setting, the first pages of the suspense involved a grizzly encounter and a murder witnessed through a camera lens. From that point on the action, danger, and suspense continued to increase from one chapter to the next. A scene or two had me almost holding my breath as the danger ramped up even more.
A brilliant plot, interesting characters, and ample plot twists that kept me guessing made Always Look Twice a book for my keeper shelf as well as one I will likely share with my suspense loving friends. I myself look forward to the next book in the series because Heath’s brother has some mysterious secrets I am hoping will be revealed.

This wonderful story has a lot of oomph. When Harper witnesses a murder while taking wilderness pictures and gets injured trying to run away she never expects her hero to be a cowboy on horseback. Especially when that cowboy was her best childhood friend, Heath. As Heath tries to stay away from Harper he can’t help worrying about her and her tenaciousness in making sure the killer comes to justice. With bombs going off in mailboxes and other places and a killer on the loose, the law has their hands full. Will Harper be safe and can Heath be her hero again? This tale of suspense will keep you on the edge of your seat. I received a complimentary copy and I am voluntarily reviewing
Elizabeth Goddard is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors for romantic suspense. Always Look Twice lives up to everything I expect from this author. Romance, edge of your seat suspense and faith interwoven throughout the book make it a fantastic read. The cover should have a warning added. Once you read the first page you will not want to stop until you’ve finished the entire thing. The entire cast of characters is well developed and the plot moves quickly, making this one super hard to put down. I would love to see Always Look Twice as well as the first book in the series, Never Let Go, be made into movies. They are both that good. I highly recommend this book to any lover of clean romantic suspense. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and was under no obligation to post a review.
Wow, what a story! This one drew me in from the very first page. All I wanted to do was to keep reading until the mystery was solved. The setting in the Jackson Hole area was perfect and played its part in building the suspense in this book. The characters were compelling and I instantly connected with Harper. Even as she was struggling to overcome her anxiety over tragic events in her life, she stayed strong and used her talent to help find a killer. This storyline had plenty of twists in it. At one point, I thought I had the mystery solved, only to have another clue come along to make me realize I was wrong. As Heath and Harper struggle to catch the killer before he kills again, the affection they had for each other in their childhood grows in to something stronger. I also appreciated the thread of faith that was woven into the storyline.
This is an excellent Christian suspense novel and I’m looking forward to (hopefully) reading more about these characters.

EXHILARATING!!
An Addicting, Action Packed, Pulse Pounding, Clean, Romantic Read!
I was completely hooked from the very first page, till the very last! Never a dull moment in Elizabeth Goddard’s, Always Look Twice. With characters that fly off the pages, you fall absolutely in love and become utterly enthralled, totally attached. You live and breathe this book. These characters become family and your heart pounds with all they go through.
Elizabeth Goddard is such a special author, being able to deliver such an edge of your seat thriller, all the while, never losing Faith and belief in God. Brilliant! I can’t wait to introduce my family to the phenomenal world of Elizabeth Goddard.
The first book I read by this author was the first book in this series, and I was hooked. Since then, I have read several of the books she wrote for the Love Inspired Suspense line of books, and loved every one of them. But I have been looking forward to reading this one since I finished the first book in this series back in February.
Always Look Twice was just as exciting and suspenseful as Never Let Go, #1 in this series. A lot of book #1 took place on and around the land he owns and runs a camp from, so a lot of the setting was the same in both books. By the way, I’d love to live at that fictional place….minus the bears.
Goddard did a great job on concealing the “who’. She had me suspecting one man, then another. By the time the identity of the killer was revealed, I wasn’t surprised, but had fun trying to figure out who really was the guilty party.
I like books where the couple have previously known each other, and it isn’t necessarily a quick boy meets girl, tries to keep girl safe, marries girl. Those books are an enjoyable read too, but it adds different layers when previous relationships or friendship is part of the story.
In addition to the great suspense and drama, Goddard dealt with guilt in this book. Yeah…even fiction books can address issues and help the reader. Imagine that. Both Heath and Harper both had things from their past that they needed to let go of to be what God wanted, and to have any kind of relationship with each other.
Slight spoiler: Liam, the third brother whose story will be in the third and final book, makes an appearance in this book, and he is as likable and cool as his two brothers.
My only complaint is more likely the fault of the publisher, from previous knowledge: This series is about 3 brothers, each book centering on a different one. It would have made more sense to me to feature the guys on the covers instead of the women, but Christian fiction tends to be a woman’s market, and some publishers insist on putting women on the covers.
The book itself: awesome read that has be already anticipating the third and final book in this greats series.
I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher. All opinions in this review are my own.
This is the second story in the Uncommon Justice series, which is about three brothers, but it easily reads as a stand-alone. I really like Ms. Goddard’s writing style and enjoyed Heath and Harper’s story. I thought the action was well paced, although I would have liked a bit more on the romance side. It had enough action to keep you on your toes, but not so much action that it made the investigators look inept, which I have ran into a lot lately, it seems. And as far as the villain, I had accused several people before the story was over. Every time I thought I knew for sure who he/she was, something would happen to make me second guess myself. I was surprised by the ending, and liked how everything tied together.
I was happy that Heath’s brother, Liam, showed up in this story. He has been a bit of a mystery since book one. I liked how he immediately stepped in to help solve the murder, which gave us a glimpse into his character, but I still have a lot of questions about him, and his past, and am looking forward to reading his story next. I am also really curious about the unresolved mystery thread that revolves around their father. I would have liked to have seen Austin and Willow, from Never Let Go, in this story instead of just a mention as to where they were and what they were doing.
All in all, this was a solid romantic suspense, and I am looking forward to reading Liam’s story next.
Wow! What a wild ride! This book was so good! I really didn’t want to put it down! I was hooked in chapter 1. I really enjoyed the characters and their struggle to find the killer. I was really surprised by who the killer was. I’m really looking forward to reading the next book in the series!
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.
Elizabeth Goddard has written another winner with Always Look Twice, the second installment in the Uncommon Justice series. Her detailed descriptions of the area near Jackson Hole, Wyoming, brought the setting to life. Her knowledge of police procedures make the story beryl believable.
Harper Reynolds is currently taking a break from her job as a crime scene photographer due to the flashbacks and nightmares that are plaguing her. She’s been traveling with her sister Emily, photographing the scenery in national parks and trying to heal. While photographing the wildlife around her, she accidentally captures a murder on film. She flees the scene and loses her camera in the process.
Heath McKade owns a guest ranch in the area. He hears a scream and discovers Harper, an old childhood friend. Since he’s a reserve deputy, he’s called to protect Harper. His job gets harder when she becomes determined to find evidence that of the crime that doesn’t seem to exist. Heath and Harper begin to fall for each other, but past secrets could also conspire to keep them apart.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Suspense has always been one of my favorite genres, and Always Look Twice has a lot of suspense. The story pulled me in right away and there was plenty of action to keep it moving. Photography is a hobby of mine, so I identified with Harper’s desire to photograph things. I also identified with Heath’s desire to fix things, even things that were really beyond his control. When it came to figuring out the identity of the killer, Elizabeth Goddard kept me guessing. I am definitely looking forward to the conclusion of the series, A First Look. While I have read the first book in the series, Never Let Go, this book would also stand well on its own. I would recommend Always Look Twice to anyone who enjoys suspense with a bit of romantic tension.
While I did receive a copy of this book from the publisher, I was not required to leave a positive review and the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
This was a excellent book. Loved the characters especially Harper. Great twists and turns. Love Elizabeth Goddard books.
What a ride!! This story keeps you at the edge of your seat from beginning to end! Set in Jackson Hole, WY, Harper Reynolds is shooting nature photos when she sees a murder committed through her lens. When no trace of the murder can be found, everyone is skeptical of her story except for a childhood friend, Heath McKade. When it looks like Harper is being targeted, Heath vows to keep her safe. As more and more secrets come to light, how is it all going to end?!
Well written inspirational romantic suspense.
This book was hard to put down! This is the second book in the Uncommon Justice series. The book starts out with a photographer witnessing a murder through her camera. When she sees the hunter looking at her through his rifle scope, she turns to flee through the wilderness forest. While running for her life, she falls and loses her camera down a gully, while receiving a head injury. When she goes to the police, she has no pictures of the murder, and there is no body to be found. But she knows what she saw, now she just has to convince the police that she did witness a murder, and that she isn’t crazy. This story has several twists and turns, several different story lines, along with a cold case murder. Yet they are all tied in together to make a story that will leave you on the edge of your seat, and wanting more. Well written, fast paced, believable characters. It shows the characters as they are; real people with hangups caused by their pasts. Which all of us can relate to, since none of us are perfect and have it all together. Awesome read, can’t wait for the third book in the series to come out so I can see how the series ends. Perfect way to spend a weekend, relaxing with a cup of tea and this book. Highly recommend.
This is an incredibly action packed story! And I quite enjoyed it!
In this second installment in the Uncommon Justice Series, we find Harper Reynold’s taking beautiful nature photographs when something catches her eye. When she pans over, looking through her scope, she sees a woman running away from someone. Although everything inside of her screams to look away, she can tell by the look on the woman’s face she may see/photograph something important. Which turns out to be her murder. While trying to get away and find help, she trips and hits her head, drops her camera and the memory chip. When she calls for help, the one who happens to be there is a childhood friend of hers, Heath McKade. He helps her to safety, protects her, and helps her find who committed this horrible crime.
Harper and Heath’s relationship is the one thing I wanted more of in this story. I wish there had been more of their romance and not just the two of them pushing the other away. They both have serious baggage and are afraid of committing to the other person. I was happy with how their story ended, I just wish there had been more!
All in all, this book kept me on my toes and kept me turning pages! I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to the third book in this series!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. A positive review was not required. All opinions expressed are my own.
